Some man is getting divorce raped. She is crazy, so she is unlikely to have contributed more than expenses while it was his turn. She will tell the judge how much she needs financial security in her delicate mental health. He will lose almost all he has. After all that he will still be happier not to have crazy in his life.

A dear friend of mine gave his ex a "bad" divorce. What do they mean by that?
When they don't get all the money they're expecting.
He has some passive-aggressive issues, IMO, but eventually told his wife he met in a bar that she had to cut back on her weekday drinking and do more at home. She earned decent money (not as much as him, of course) but he was doing the lion's share of housework and childcare. I think his mistake was letting it get that bad and then trying to rein her in. People don't react well to sudden, and strong, course corrections.
So she served him up with divorce papers thinking she'd cash in. Despite his claims that New Jersey family court favors women, and it likely does, his evidence of her DUI's and lack of parental involvement resulted in joint custody and merely 50:50 financial split, no alimony. That was still overly generous to her that a man in a similar situation wouldn't get, obviously.
About 2 months after the papers were signed, her share of a house got bad windows that cost $12,000 to replace. He would have done that work for $2000 materials and a few weekends. Not only that, but with a custody agreement in effect she had to get sober which her refusal to do so was why she divorced him in the first place.
She offered him a reconciliation and he declined. I can appreciate his feelings, but sadly she took out her angst on the children alienating them from him resulting in the daughter winding up an overweight, face pierced, blue hair harridan with literally daddy issues claiming he "abandoned" her mother.
This is all so awful, I can appreciate why many young men think twice and then twice again before getting married. Going through that is such heartbreak I cannot even fully appreciate and this is a guy who "won".
