(All issues related to WhereAreAllTheGoodMen will be posted on this thread.)
Initial testing on WhereAreAllTheGoodMen is good. Posting works fine, no obvious errors, decent layout though I was expecting it to look more like old TRP.
Following are some issues I came across. I'm sure many of these are already on the to-do list, just reporting my findings. I'm on PC:
-
I can't edit the sidebar. Clicking 'Settings' goes to the Tribe settings, but the sidebar content there doesn't replicate to the forum.
-
I can't modify or remove a post after it's posted, nor can I create/change flair, nor sticky posts.
-
We only allow link posts and want to restrict text posts for members.
-
I can see post images just fine by clicking "Preview" for the post on the main forum page, but when I click to the comments for the post, the image doesn't appear there.
-
I can't leave a comment on a post. I type in a comment, click 'post reply', the screen refreshes, but no comment appears.
- The post title only accepts 75 characters instead of 300.
Thanks.

@redpillschool, a few questions:
We have many members who are Subscribers and many who are Contributors, though we didn't modify their permissions. We would like anyone who subscribes to be an automatic Contributor. Is this already in place?
Thanks.
@goodmansaysfuckyou

As long as it's a "Public Open Tribe" in your tribe settings, both contributors and subscribers will be able to post and participate.
I will have to see how easy it is to grab that info from the API
kevin32 4y ago
I ask because it's saying that Subscribers can't post.

@redpillschool,
I know this is primarily for Whereareallthegoodmen tribe, but I would like to ask some questions about the setup child sub Whereallthegoodmenare (a child sub for the main sub which concentrates on stories and analysis essays) here:
Offtopic:
If you think we should open a new thread for this tribe, please let me know and I will open one. Thank you.
redpillschool DEV 4y ago
Yes. Due to rate limits and bot detection, I only point my archive gun at one sub at a time. You're in the list, very soon.
I see the issue and will have that resolved soon.

Thank you.

Another thing I noticed in WATGMA, while I was trying to sticky a recent post, it goes to the top position instead of the second position. Is this something to do with the tribe setting or universal?
Edit: Noticed that this is the same for the tribe pinned posts.
redpillschool DEV 4y ago
Pinned posts will default to newest on top for both forums and tribes.
moorekom 4y ago
Thank you. Gotta have to remember that one since that is the opposite of reddit.

@redpillschool, how do you ban a user? I can search/invite them in the Members section, but I don't see the option to ban, just the Banned list
redpillschool DEV 4y ago
When you're on the users' permissions page, the drop down includes "Banned"

@redpillschool, a few suggestions since testing:
the ability to reflair a post at anytime (sometimes the OP uses the wrong flair when posting)
a "hide/remove post" option to inform the OP why their post was removed, or for mods to discuss whether to approve it. Currently it deletes the post so the OP can't be informed why their post was removed.
a "lock post" option to prevent commenting
Thanks.

@redpillschool, requesting a response on the above suggestions. Also, we would like to announce our new forum to the Reddit community (more like soft-selling). The forum functions well for the most part but I want to know is it cool to announce now or are there additional updates/testing you need to do? Thanks.
redpillschool DEV 4y ago
I agree with most of your suggestions and am working on implementing them as we speak.
The updates will roll out but you are free to announce on reddit in the interim.
Thanks for your help

@redpillschool:
A few other issues we've seen:
There is no moderator queue for posts. All posts (including ones that don't fit the theme) will automatically appear on the forum and mods must remove as appropriate.
No modmail. Is there a way for mods to privately discuss managing the forum? goodmansaysfuckyou came up with the idea of creating a separate tribe but for mods, which isn't a bad idea as it would largely serve our purpose.
Recommend a search function for the forums (search by keyword, title, flair).
Low-priority, but we'd like to assign members a flair template which have different background colors, but then rename that person's flair to whatever, whenever. Currently we can only assign them the templates which can't be renamed. Of course we can create new flair from scratch for each person, but then the dropdown would be flooded with names.
Thanks.

Already ahead of you there- Both features are on their way very shortly.
The search bar at the top of the page will search the current forum you're in ( like this: https://www.forums.red/i/whereareallthegoodmen/?showall=1&search=mr+wrong )
If you click on the name of the flair on the post, it will filter by flair: https://www.forums.red/i/whereareallthegoodmen?flair=153
Interesting. Let me think about how to address that and get back to you.
Yes I think we can do that. I will get started on that.
kevin32 4y ago
@redpillschool:
Flairs function properly without issue. Not a big deal, but User flair on the main forum do not appear next to OP's name. They appear next to the name in the comments however.
I created then deleted a test post. It was deleted from my forum fine, but it still appeared in the main ForumsRed feed, even when I'm logged out. Looks like it's removed now, but it was there for about an hour after it was deleted.
For mod permissions, what's the difference between Administrator and Super Administrator?
Thanks.
redpillschool DEV 4y ago
At the moment that's where we're going to keep them since the posts get busy looking. I may revisit.
"What's Hot" and "My Tribes" caches need to clear when mod makes deletion request. Bug fixed.
Admin description shows up when you select it, so you can read details there, but here's the breakdown:
Super Administrator Super Admin can edit/add any moderator and permissions except the Tribe owner. Super Admin have all Permissions by Default
Administrator
Only has permissions you've selected for them. The current options are:
The ability to Invite, Promote, or Ban users from the tribe. This does not include admin editing or promotion.
The ability to edit tribe details, delete the tribe, descriptions, name, and tribe type (private, public, etc).
The ability to remove offending posts from the TRP.RED tribe feed.
The ability to remove offending posts from the Forums.Red Forum.
I'll expand it.
redpillschool DEV 4y ago
Posts and comments are now 30,000 characters across the board.
redpillschool DEV 4y ago
A majority of these issues will be resolved today. I'll post more info shortly
redpillschool DEV 4y ago
After activating your forum, a new box shows up in settings for a separate forum sidebar apart from tribe sidebar. Check settings page again.
Edit/remove posts has now been implemented. Sticky posts implemented. Change flair - coming soon.
Will implement soon.
Fixed.
I can't leave a comment on a post. I type in a comment, click 'post reply', the screen refreshes, but no comment appears.
Fixed

Looks like replies are working now for you.
Using Firefox by any chance?
kevin32 4y ago
Yes. version 78.
redpillschool DEV 4y ago
I couldn't replicate your bug until I pulled out Firefox.
Good old Firefox, always causing problems lol.
Anyway it should work just fine now
kevin32 4y ago
Yes, replies are working. Thanks.
