This is what most people don't understand about the downsides of "hypergamy".

Nobody blames women for trying to get "the best partners possible". However: A lot of times, they do this based on the assumption that they themselves are perfect. Their standards for others do not match the standards they have for themselves.

This leaves the guys on her level lonely - and them heartbroken and desperate. A true lose-lose situation.

The question that screams out to me is "Who in the hell is her intended audience?"

Man, this was posted right on time as I was just thinking of a similar situation I witnessed since my childhood.

Since I was a kid I witnessed my mom chase after my step father. My entire life she chased after him but my step father never committed to my mom because he had other women in his life. You see my step father was RICH rich. He had so much money that he built a house with chandeliers and imported european marble on the floor. So naturally him having that kind of money he had a lot of women after him because he was among the top 1% of men. He never committed to my mom, never asked her to marry him, never even asked us to move in with him. My mom chased after him my entire life but he just kept her at arm's length while he had affair after fair with other women, had kids with other women, many times even dumping my mom for other women. Even though she committed to him he never committed to her because he had options. My mom ended up just like this woman right here.

A couple of years ago my step father died and he did not leave her one dime of his money. His will stated that his money was to be distributed between his various kids and all the women he was involved with got nothings. He left the house he built to his best friend and my mom ended up living on government housing with just her and a dog.

My mom' story could've ended a different way. My biological father (the good man in her life) wanted to marry her when I was just a baby but she turned him down to go chase after my rich step father. She turned him down because my father was a regular blue collar guy with a regular blue collar salary. Instead she spent her whole life chasing after my step father and she was nothing but another option to him.

Today my father is retired, owns a regular middle class home, living off his pension just enjoying his last years while my mom ended up living on government housing by herself and a dog. i've seen plenty of stories like this. There's been other women in my family who ended up just like this as well. Had their chance with good men early but turned them down only to end up dying alone later.

The reason plenty of women turn down regular good men is because they think each one of them is special and they are the exception to the rule. They think they deserve the best simply for existing. They are repulsed by regular everyday dudes because it reminds them of their regularity. They only appreciate good men later on when they get burned repeatedly by the men with options.

TLDR: My blue collar father(the good man) wanted to marry my mom but she turned him down to go chase after my rich step father(the man with options). My step father never committed and now my mom is in the same situation as this woman, regretting it.

Pride comes before the fall. She got too cocky and conceited that she forgot where she was at on the totem pole. She shows no remorse (in my opinion) and I show 0 sympathy.

This older man is giving this younger girl everything that these older woman want. And they are bitter as hell about it. Older dudes have more options than older women.

Reminds me of something you that happened to me in my twenties. GF wanted to travel to a new country every 3-4 months. At first I was on board , two such travels later I started to save money for a business , while she insisted we should keep on traveling till we are 30 and above. Refused her demand and she broke up with me. Few months later we meet at a party , she was dating a techno DJ who took her touring with her.

Two years pass after that party , I have my work and business is finally booming , then a call from her. "We should meet to catch up". Went there to see what's up. Turns out DJ man dumped her ass for a sexier model , now she comes clean and confesses it was a very immature of her to demand we be a travelling couple all the time. At a certain point women start self sabotaging. Even if they say or think you're perfect they start testing you and if you show any kind of what they see as weakness they go crazy with what they see as power imbalance. They start acting shitty and won't apologize or even acknowledge they did it. Then they'll leave thinking things are bad or that they treat you bad because they deserve better. You made things bad and you got grossed out by this guy trying to fix them, seeing him as desperate because he cared about fixing things.

It's funny that they even do this in relationships that have amazing potential and they'll think the guy will stick around because he tolerated it once or twice. As a guy who has an easy time attracting women I always hear "I never dated a guy who can attract women before, it makes me feel weird". I don't take advantage of that "power imbalance" because I think it's shitty yet every time I do this and let my guard down I get the same tendency to start talking to me like shit. Then they act surprised and get angry when I become distant and start losing attraction to them. I'm not going to invest the rest of my life into committing to someone who can't give the minimum amount of respect of saying sorry.

This post is where it ends up if you let your guard down, they beat down a good relationship until it turns bad, treat the guy like crap, leave and then regret it. Most guys take the crappy behavior because they can't easily get a new woman. I already learned the lesson of never letting down my guard and making concessions but I stupidly think some women, and people in general, are different.

I'm done with trying. Everywhere you look it's either women treating meek men like crap and then leaving them or regretting how they drove away good, attractive men.
