has anyone here taken adderall short-term, without being diagnosed with a mental disease, for the purposes of boosting their cognitive capabilities? i heard that a lot of college students take it come exam time, and supposedly it is very effective - what do you say? i also heard that side-effects are brutal and often permanent, which makes it not worth it in my book.
do you know of any other medication that helps with cognitive function, but isn't as dangerous? also, what are your favorite ways to boost cognition or help neuroplasticity, other than keeping healthy via physical exercise, a balanced diet, and getting adequate sleep?
edit: intelligence is definitely my bottle-neck, and i'm looking for ways to increase my focus when learning new concepts

You don't need none of that shit. Why put synthetic chemicals in your body when you don't need to? Just eat more fish. And just say no to drugs.

Fully agree, except that I'd like to add to the pomodoro part:
Depending on the type of work you're doing, longer pomodoros may be more effective since by the time you get in the "zone" with a 20 minute pomodoro, you're onto your next break. I'm doing 50 minutes 10 min break now and I'm way more efficient.

I took it so short term that I only use it when the plugs got it. No /s, I'm a stim lover.
I use DMHA and phenibut twice a week and it feels like ritalin.

I used adderall to boost my productivity from time to time - I found it extremely effective, and I limit it by only doing it once a week or so, and focusing on all my hardest or most concentration-intensive tasks on that day. Someone gave me a ritalin once and I thought that was even better - same focus more optimism.
