I chose to pursue my engineering degree in 2018 since i had no better choice at the moment ( . I hadn't figured out what i want out of a career but engineering bores the life out of me. I am in my fourth year (out of five). I have been getting slightly below average grades as i spend most of my time reading psychological, financial, business and political topics. I get cash from writing articles, and buying labour cheaply and selling it expensively as a consequence of playing mimd games on people. I have grown my social skills to a point where almost everyone in school wants to be my friend (credits to trp). However, i think i have ADHD. I can barely sit through more than 1.5 hrs of work, a character trait typical of ENTPs (some say the MBTI personality profile is not accurate but it definitely explains most of my traits) although on rare occassions I do drown into work and barely notice time passing. I'm really confused on which career field to go into and I can see time is not on my side. I'll eventually have to come out of this comfort of confusion but I'm not comfortable with the result if time runs out and I'll have to choose in a hurry a.k.a make a horrible decision. I can tolerate writing as long as I'll never set foot in an office. However, I'm also not sure if dropping out of school will save my last 3 years; or waste my next 2 if i decide to continue on. What model of decision making do you use in such situations?

Listen, if you invest 2 years you have a degree to fall back on for a lifetime. Nothing is stopping you from pursuing writing after you have your degree but that piece of paper will make you way more marketable in the long-term and help you accrue and potentialluy invest money to free up time to pursue writing as a hobby. You have a great opportunity that'll cover you for life. Avoid fucking it up on something you can easily do on the side.
School isn't about being happy, leisurely learning, or etc. It's about increasing your marketability and long-term earning potential. Writing and buying cheap labour alone won't do that for you.

I dropped out of university because I had ADHD. I also dropped out in the final year. It hasn't affected me much because I do computer programming, but it would have otherwise. There are real privileges that come with a degree, and it shouldn't be taken lightly. It's much easier to emigrate, for example.
You are a slave, and university is a compliance test. If you finish it, then that means you are willing to submit to endless bullshit. It also means you are really smart (useful) or you are willing to become a debt-slave in order to gain privileges.
I suggest you get some Adderall and finish your degree. It's unhealthy, and it sucks to submit to their bullshit, but there are real consequences if you do not play along. You cannot escape their system, there is no escape from chasing money.

Money REALLLY matters. I'm learning this more and more as I get older. I've always had a contemptuous attitude about money and the system, but I'm learning to regret it.

Don’t be a dumb ass. You just got a year left. A lot of people think education and uni is for your degree and information. It’s not. It’s really to show prestige. It’s like wearing a nice suit. You don’t really need a suit ever but it’s always a good idea to at least have one. So even if you don’t use it, it’s good to get it. Also if nothing ever works you’ll have more job prospects not just in engineering but in general.
Finish what you start.. Now if you were in your 1st or 2nd year then drop out 100% but if your last year, yea don’t be a dumb ass. Time is not easy to get back.
“Playing mind games with people”. It’s not mind games it’s called contracting out work. You are not playing people, it’s a common practice. Just that sentence shows that you think you are really slick.

Finish what you started. My last year of my Physics degree was a nightmare(think quantum mechanics part 2). I didn't go on to work in Physics but my degree got me instant qualification to teach all over the world, peace corps entry, military officer entry, etc.
Anyway, now I know who's the one posting jobs on upwork for $3/hr. ;)

Learn how to focus better and for longer, regardless of cause. Although really, you should be building in breaks....... eg work 50 mins, break for 10.
Good question. It's very hard.
So you're 3 years in, and 2 years to go.... tricky. A degree is worth a lot in the job market, but you have to actually do it.
I grappled with similar with my degree and not sure I'd have done anything better with the remaining time. I got the degree in the end and honestly it was worth it for the doors it opened. It just looks good on your CV.
In your case I'm worried that if you switch to something else you'll suffer all the same problems. If you're more interested then awesome...... but that has to last until you finish that-other-thing. If you're a constant grass-is-always-greener type of person then switching won't help.
