This came over from the nicegirls sub. Some of the women there genuinely did not get why a ton of men get angry over this. "It is an age old way to date". "Good on her for being honest". And so on.
"Get marred, have kids together, support each other in thick and thin" is a culture of dating, and of life. She did not want to go that route, and that is fine, the world is a new* place after all. Suddenly, when her choices bite her, she wants the stability of that route. But she has not "paid her insurance" by living that life. Why should people of that culture suddenly help her? Why would anyone trust her to keep living that life, after the crisis is over?
Besides, where is the baby daddy? I smell a trainwreck human life story, that finally found some kind of injury to pin the lack of work on.
*I honestly believe that we are at a crossroads where we are fundamentally changing dating, life, having kids, and all that. It is broken wide open, the shards of the past is floating around, and I wonder how it will set again. I would love to talk to a young man born in 2121 about how dating, marriage, kids and life works.

One of my all-time favorite movie scenes, that just grew on me over time, is the courtship of Michael and Apollonia in The Godfather. It begins with Michael asking a stunned father to court his daughter under his supervision and Michael effectively dating the family for the first part of it. They fed him while he gave small gifts to the daughter and mother and he drank and relaxed with the family as they each got to know each other better. Then, with the whole family walking behind, he took her on a walk and chatted with her presumably about happy things. Throughout that whole courtship scene, there was such respect, appreciation, and support.

Had Vito been there, it would have been him that made the approach. The reason the Vitellis were so surprised, was that they were relatively poor, while Michael was seen as fabulously rich. The reason Michael did it the way he did was that he needed to show that his interest was truly matrimonial, and not prurient. Normally, families would arrange marriages as best they could within their social class, or if the bride was spectacularly beautiful or the groom very successful, one small step up in class. Everyone had an interest in seeing that the match was lasting and successful. This was the great benefit of patriarchy. Without it, we get a small number of high status men gathering harems, and all the others making do with leftovers.

Michael's speech to his (future) father-in-law was so touching, masculine, and respectful. "infantile". He said he respected the father, his family, and Apollonia. He showed everyone respect and appreciation and it was returned.
For the record, it was a lot like how I dated my wife and her family. I took them out to a nice show, not only with my wife, THEM as well. We had a wonderful time, drank, and came back. They look after my daughter. With their support, I've been married 17 years.
I never liked modern dating and I see now why. It's awful. What is your idea of "perfect dating?"

I was in Douglas, WY about 30 years ago. I was in a museum and there was a steamer trunk with a woman's possessions that she came with from England. I want to say this was in 1880's. She was a mail order bride. She packed everything she had to live with a man who paid her fare. Her decedents donated everything as an example how things worked back then. My guess is she will do it initially then after a month or two it will rapidly drop off and she will start expecting you to do more and more until the point you are doing it all yourself while she sits on her ass watching reality TV or playing with her phone. I am saying this because one woman I was friends with was about to be homeless due to being unemployed so I did the nice thing of letting her move in to help her catch a break and within a month or two she told me I needed to contribute around the apartment more cleaning etc. Bitch first off this is my apartment you are just a guest, secondly you don't even have a fucking job while I am working and attending university! I worked with a man who married a single mom. She had 2 young boys. They were together for about 5 years. He paid for her to finish her RN degree. One year later, she dumped him and stuck him with $5,000 in credit card debt. That was 25 years ago, so that would be about $15,000 today. She worked in a prison as a RN, and started hanging out with the ex-cons who were released i.e. bikers, gangbangers, thugs, etc. True story, nothing made up.

First let's establish: she's not wanting to marry ANY man. She wants to marry a particular provider man with a good job with good health benefits.

Publix - I LOVE THEM. Not from the south but went there on a long driving trip for fun working remotely. It's the ONLY grocery store I know that bags your items and sometimes 2 people on top of your casher comes and helps you bag. I will say I'm more often so embarrassed at the kindness and level of service!

I have done my own cleaning for 15+ years and because most women can't clean we would likely have to hire a maid service to come twice a month. I do my own cooking and half the women I have dealt with can't make anything more complicated than store bought macaroni and cheese. If I want sex a hooker would be cheaper in the long term.
With all that said it brings up the question of what do I need a wife for anyway? Few single women are good enough to marry and few are good enough people or have a good personality which are the other two things I look for. They don't provide anything instead coming with more work for me and don't have the things I want and are usually too god damn old or have kids so most women are not good enough to marry!

Absolutely, I've known guys who were absolute chads, but completely oblivious of it, and women chased them with no luck. Then I've known super attractive guys who knew fully well, but they all came off as absolute douches, partied hard at the wrong time of their lives with all the women, and now fat, bald and not in a high income bracket. Typically all men pay (provisions if not cash) for sex - even girlfriends and wives. The "go away" is just part of the bundled package deal hookers provide. Therefore, you don't "pay" for the sex; you pay for the "go away", because the sex cost is universal.
Perhaps another way of thinking is: why you pay vs. what you pay for.

The sport thing is interesting, because it highlights two areas of uncomfortable, unspoken, lies.
Admitting M->F trans to compete highlights both issues. The female competition is a way to elliminate a specific genetic drawback* to the sport, to remake the fantasy "you could have done this, as a better you" for women. Could easily have "short people basketball" or "broad people ski flying" and stuff as well. Admitting M->F into F classes shows how big advantage genetics has, and how big advantage men has, at the same time!
They need to rework the shared story of sports, again, to overcome this. And this threathens the story of sporting, generally, if handled real badly.
*I am very specifically talking about genetics with regards to "being the best at X sport". Not as a drawback generally.

Nothing to do with equality, it's called a meritocracy. E.g. we have defined standards, if you're not 6'5" or taller, you don't get to play basketball with the professional big boys, height is largely a genetic factor, despite the risky leg lengthening surgery available today which would have to be done when you're a kid/teen and will always be a risky weakness area. For the same reason a scrawny 5'4" 90 pound guy is never going to be selected in American football as the offensive guard position as it would be detrimental to the entire team.
Feminism has nothing to do with equality either. Feminism was about creating rules, laws and institutions to manufacture benefits for women in society without the burden of responsibility, while desperately clinging to maintain the old benefits of the patriarchal world with it's pro-women traditions. Egalitarianism is about equality. There can never be equality, because a man and a woman are not equal, both excel in different areas, both have different priorities in different stages of their lives.
Conservatives for the longest time have tried to tell lefties to just create a special league for trans individuals, and likely do so on the spectrum of the XY chromosomes. So you don't get former males competing against former females which would give the former male due to the innate male's genetic advantage an edge over the former female. This avoids the whole 'he/she has to have tits' 'dick removal surgery', or 'has to have taken pre-puberty blockers' arguments.
Currently; the lefties have set the standard that if a male has taken estrogen for X amount of months; the male is now suddenly a female and can compete in female sports. This is ridiculous. Nothing to do with equality, but straight up idiocy. The male is still a male; you don't lose muscle mass on estrogen in a few months. Hence why the weightlifter dude won all first prizes in female weight lifting.
