I was having a discussion about this rule with some other members and it came to my attention that there might be some confusion with this rule on this forum.
At one point in time we were being overrun by posts admiring fictional characters... "Look at Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. Isn't he soooo great?" or criticizing beta traits from other characters in popular movies or shows. (Stop being such a Ted Mosby!)
Because they're fictional characters, their motivations are made up, and their successes or failures are entirely at the whim of the writers. This means it does not provide any insight or prediction to us for how these behaviors work or what they accomplish.
Now, if you read the full rules page, we clarify:
Use of fiction or other controlled narratives (reality tv, etc) should only be used as an example of the author's psychology, not the character's.
And I think we haven't been seeing much of this here because people have incorrectly assumed all discussion of fiction in itself is off topic. We actually welcome discussion of culture and I personally would like to see more of it.
Discussion of our culture's art and media and how it shapes opinions and cultural mores is important. But that discussion should focus on some of the following topics:
- Why did the author choose to portray certain behaviors in certain lights.
- Is the piece accurate? If not, what was the motivation of the author for presenting a falsehood?
- What is the net effect on society if the average viewer/reader believes this fiction reflects reality when it does not?
- What opinions or ideas is this piece trying to change?
We are amidst a culture war. And while TRP has always been (and shall always be) focused on sexual strategy, it is crucial that we ensure that focus includes discussion of this culture war. Understanding how we got here, and tracking future changes in our culture will keep us ahead of the curve.

I’ve never liked this rule. If someone uses an example from fiction and says “this is an example from a fictional story” then what’s the problem?
As Jordan Peterson says, good fiction is the expression of very deep meta truths, and old fiction that has been revered throughout the ages clearly tells us something about who we are and what we want.
Fiction is an expression of a whole lot of useful stuff. It’s an expression of ones desires, the way in which they perceive the world, the way in which they perceive the way in which others perceive the world.
It’s very very interesting and useful and I think people are smart enough to not take a fictional story as if it were true, if you’re eyes are open enough to see a Red Pill and swallow it then they’re open enough to read behind the lines.
319Skew 5y ago
Well let's get a discussion around real life men that embody red pill mindsets. It's easier to find examples the further back one goes.

Rule #6 is the cream of the crop, a top notch rule.
caliboo2 5y ago
I remember years ago on my original alt account calling out fictional characters as more or less fantasy worlds and mental masturbation. Glad to see at some point it finally made the rules.
StrikePrice 5y ago
Agree with the rule 100%. Superman is still my model for frame tho ????
sweetseawater 5y ago
I'd recomend the Netflix series Gypsy (from 2017), a psychological thriller staring Naomy Watts. It's written by a woman and the protagonist is supposely some kind of sociopath.
Perhaps the focus of the writer was in portraing this unique psycho, but if you watch it through rep pills lenses you can see a lot of universal feminine truths in the way she manipulates everyone around her to get what she wants. Also the way the male characters behave is a very solid portray of Blue pill reasoning.
wavydud3 5y ago
Even though it’s a scripted tv show, Californication has the best examples of shit testing I’ve ever seen from a Tv show. If anyone has never seen it, there’s a lot a person can learn from the character of Hank Moody. Particularly being outcome independent. Just remember it’s a Tv show and you’re good.
ELMasTurbo 5y ago
Hank Moody is annoying as hell. He can get laid anytime he wants but "oh no my average looking wife and annoying kid hate me". Also his best friend is literally a Cuck.

Disney owns Star Wars now, bruh. For me, there exist only 6 SW movies.
alexclarkbarry 5y ago
There are 8 star wars movies, rogue one was really good and I count it, same with the new Han Solo movie. But the force awakens was just okay, and last jedi was 100% pure virtue signaling SJW trash pile of flaming horse shit that had no plot or any type of "star wars" that gives the series its title.

I taught my daughter, who maybe is the softest and most peaceful human being I know, that she must reciprocate every form of physical aggression with double the amount of it. For every punch, punch back two times, for every two kicks, kick back four times. I also told her that I will deal with any backlash that might arise with the school.
She did it once with a girl who slapped her and told everybody afterwards what I have taught her.
Everybody at her school is afraid to hit her now.
sezamus 5y ago
Very, very good advice to a kid! I was growing up among hooligans and there was simply no other way. The moment someone senses you are weak and non-threatning, the nightmare only just begins.
killermike-el-P 5y ago
That might backfire on her in the future. Remember that females are weak and some men can't control their temper. Curling up into a ball and taking the hurt can be much less damaging than fighting back. But at least she would fail with honour. God forbid of course.
celtiberian666 5y ago
The barrel of a 9mm have a big calming effect on those. He'll calm down on his own, or be calmed down forever.
A compact 9mm or .380 pistol fits into a purse. And also come in flashy colors like pink.
Also, a trained woman can do attacks that gains her time enough to flee (on the balls, eyes, etc). Their main problem is not what to do, but to do it under a real combat situation, you need levels of agression females don't usually have.
killermike-el-P 5y ago
I would invest in training my daughter sufficiently enough to reach those levels of agression and efectiveness. It would have to start from and early age though.

It's much better for females to use their wits to deescalate a situation when a guy has an out of control temper. Don't do nothing and just take it, but that doesn't mean physically engaging a losing battle either. It's basically a hostage situation if the guy is really out of control / on drugs / etc. Placate, calm him down, make a smart exit.
tempolaca 5y ago
In the movies Jedi's fight back all the time, fuck they are the police. This guy's a pussy.
geo_gan 5y ago
Exactly. Yer man only said "you'll be dead" or something and Obi-Wan immediately cut his arm off like a boss. #bossup (i hate that SJW tag)
WorkThrowAway125 5y ago
Don't want to get too nerdy on this subject but yes the Jedi fight back all the time and kill people, beasts, and robots without hesitation. The only difference being they do not seek out conflict but if shit needs to be handled you can expect to be lightsabered in half, no issues. They are great examples of Frame Control and boundary setting.
littleboyblu13 5y ago
The jedi were based off samurai honor and closely followed boshido codes of honor. If anyone wants to know how jedi they are they should take a look at documents of feudal Japan from samurai writings and passages. Most people are more of a smuggler know a days. Pay attention to even the robes and the lightsaber (space katana). Even Darth Vader's look was a shogunate pull. Considering when star wars was developed aaa loooooot of samurai/ninja/martial arts media was rampant.
[deleted] 5y ago
Yep, Anakin lost frame quite a bit and went corrupt because of a woman.

Chad was always a caricature. That's the point. Does Captain Free Saturday Nights here spend hours scraping the chans looking for references to Chad? He could do a 15 hour series on it there.
4matting 5y ago
When wasn't he a fictional character?
[deleted] 5y ago
i did not explain my point well.
Chad started as a sort of meme, than someone here starts to write some sort of fiction about hiim, Chad becomes no more no less than James Bond or something like that.
4matting 5y ago
That makes sense.

How many hours of bp programming have we received as a child via TV/movies/music? 5,000 hrs? During our formative years too. I think it's a valid topic of discussion but let's balance all that shit out with rp programming based on real examples. I think the rule and quantity of comments on it is perfect the way it is.
redpillschool Admin 5y ago
To be clear, the rule hasn't changed.
[deleted] 5y ago
Somebody mentioned rule six in a comment above. Where are the rules about media consumption?
[deleted]
idobermanlover 5y ago
Does anyone knows any character on redpill? Coz phuk man everything on mainstream is bp.
hammerhearth 5y ago
Another dude in here mentioned Geralt but Geralt is pretty whipped by that lilac and gooseberries bitch. He gets a lot on the side though, kills monsters, and he's pretty ripped, so maybe he isn't so beta.
But fuck man why are we looking at fictional characters for masculinity - wasn't your father enough
tempolaca 5y ago
The most red-pill character that I know, alas it's a videogame, it's Kratos from God of War. The guys is basically ridiculous masculine, fucking lots of goddess, fighting, and having a hyper-masculine behavior and appareance that I though would be banned in today's culture, but it's the best selling game. Go figure.
uebermacht 5y ago
The most entertaining fictional series at all is still 'Mad Men'.
For anyone haven't seen this series, it's playing in the 60s of New York, US. The plot is about the protagonist named Donald Draper, displayed as an alpha male archetype running an advertising company, having a family with two kids in the suburbs, a stay-at-home wife which is an ex-model. Meanwhile on work he's banging his secretaries (plural). A lot of stuff happening withing the seven seasons. Highly recommended series!
Another series which can be recommended is 'Californication' as many of you may know already. Basically an author chasing his oneitis while banging countless of sluts on the way while raising his daughter. Hilarious plot.
[deleted] 5y ago
Mad Men is a wonderful example because you can see how the definition of masculinity changed from 1960 to 1970 by the end of the show. One of the key themes was how the male characters, specifically Don, Pete, and Roger, handled their place in this new world where the old ways of being a man no longer applied.
Pete especially is a prime example because he cheats on his wife numerous times to find his masculinity in other women. He can't find it at home with a wife who sends him to return a chip plate and demeans him, and he can't find it at work, unable to garner respect.
You could write a PhD thesis on each one of those characters and how their masculinity was put out for the slaughter over 7 seasons.
I'll end with one line that has really stuck out to me. I want to say it's in season 4 when Pete is talking about his wife with Harry and says:
"Why do they get to decide everything?"
"They just do."
These men have resigned themselves to their masculinity being put on the back burner, unable to feel like a man in a culture and decade that is increasingly becoming more feminine.
linkofinsanity19 5y ago
I second the recommendation for Californication. I first started reading RP a month ago and saw another recommendation for Californication on another thread 2 weeks ago. I went into watching it with a fair understanding of RP principles (devoured RP sidebar, RP guidebook, Rstional Male, and many more posts as well as having read 3% Man 4 times before finding TRP), and in the 1st few seasons, Hank Moody does serve as a valuable template. Thanks in part to me (occasionally) asking myself "WWHMD?", I managed to end my 1.5 yr dry spell last night with a hb8 asian girl (I've got a thing for the Asian persuasion). So far he is trending towards BP in the middle seasons but I'm hoping it reverses by the end. It probably won't, but it's still very useful to have as a starting point to "channeling Hank Moody" until you develop your own brand of banter and such. Also, it's a hilarious show and is on Netflix. I'm planning on watching it a few times and might do something along the lines of a review/analysis of RP v BP behaviors so that newcomers have something to gauge themselves against that they can also do in their down time like I do. Obviously the results from those behaviors are up to the writers, but the situations he's put in are close enough to gain some insight I feel. Is there a reason that hasn't been done on here yet? I think it's a good idea and could be used for many shows/movies. Kind of a character analysis to have a visual representation of specific traits to develop in (lights, camera) action?

[deleted]
NightFire45 5y ago
“People," Geralt turned his head, "like to invent monsters and monstrosities. Then they seem less monstrous themselves. When they get blind-drunk, cheat, steal, beat their wives, starve an old woman, when they kill a trapped fox with an axe or riddle the last existing unicorn with arrows, they like to think that the Bane entering cottages at daybreak is more monstrous than they are. They feel better then. They find it easier to live.”

I used to find Brooklyn Nine-Nine funny when I first saw it. After RP all I see now is a show where every single man in it is a weak version of masculinity. They even made jacked up Terry Crews into a pussy whipped child. You really do see it everywhere in entertainment now - especially mainstream tv for the masses.
NorthEasternNomad 5y ago
There are entire song lists I have deleted since I came here - including everything Daughtry ever wrote except Over you and Renegade.
kylerosa21 5y ago
I see it in 13 Reasons Why. I used to think it was an incredible show before i began to develop my lens. Now i think the new season is cancer. It’s filled with the typical feminist talk that we always hear come from them and all the guys in the show act like pussies, even the guys who should be portrayed as having an alpha mindset
ELMasTurbo 5y ago
everyone at my school was drooling over that show. I thought it was hella gay especially after seeing the trailers, and how it's about "bullying".
SoulRebel99 5y ago
I believe bullying in some forms helps people form a social hierarchy; its simply human nature. Sure it can go too far sometimes. Shows like this are from a cultural marxist ideology trying to make people believe we're all the same. In everything.
ELMasTurbo 5y ago
Yeah it teaches kids to defend themselves and be assertive. One of my earliest memories is biting one of my playground bullies on my neck and “fighting”. Thankfully my mother had my back

you guys ever watch NCIS? Mark Harmon is the most badass character on the show solely because he possesses the ability to say no to people. Thats the entire fucking premise of the show.
Half the scenes are character is freaking out and mark harmon comes in "stop babbling and tell me whats going on" character explains and then mark harmon fixes it.
I wanna reiterate just in case the point im making isnt clear. there are gunfights in this show, explosions, all kinds of typical, actiony shit. Why is Mark Harmon the badass of the show? the guy everyone looks to for answers? He is able to make simple decisions and follow through with them, he does what he knows, needs to get done. I miss rambo man
male_specimen 5y ago
After RP, I see this with with many shows I used to enjoy. Parks and Recreation, for example, where every man is a weak version of masculinity, except Ron Swanson - who is often cited as an example of masculinity, but in reality he is just Amy Poehler's parodic idea of masculinity.
Luckyluke23 5y ago
sure, but this is why we have rule 6. you aren't watching these shows to " see who is alpha and who isn't" you watch them to veg out and have a laugh.
[deleted] 5y ago
Ron is masculine until his crazy whore ex-wife comes back and then he turns into an absolute bitch lol
TheStoicCrane 5y ago
Religion and Television are opiates for the masses.
Luckyluke23 5y ago
is this is your stance... the only thing you would be watching is animal planet.
totoro_make 5y ago
I love animal planet, you can't beat nature. My point was there are little to none positive masculine examples for any man in television. Most resort to being under the control of their women or they're just bumbling buffoons.
Al Bundy may have not amounted to much in his work or physique, but he wasn't afraid to be a man. No way in hell that show would ever be made these days...
swampbastard69 5y ago
your completely right but too be fair stuff is usually funny because you are taking the norm and turning it on its head. A good male role model like James Bond is just about the least humorous person you could think of. He makes a cheeky quip every once in awhile but he is not a funny character. Also I think beta pussies make some of the best comedians and writers because their life is angst and tragedy. I doubt alphas like Dan Bilzerian or Michael Jordan are very "funny" guys.
[deleted] 5y ago
Actually, alphas can be hilarious.
dDiegoDLV 5y ago
Agreed. Ari from Entourage was hilarious and very Alpha.
Im not a big sportsball guy, but another funny Alpha might be Gronkowski?
Fulp_Piction 5y ago
Comedy is different because juxtaposition is a device, but I get you.
Matt Groening, whether he's aware of it or not, is the biggest feminist shitebag I've come across yet. The shows were funny to be fair, but the character development and subtext just screams Cultural Marxism.
A Handmaid's Tale, Jesus Christ, it's propaganda. I've only watched the pilot and heard a few things but it's fairly obvious where that's going. There's a weird undercurrent of jealousy of the fertile. Something something SMV, something something hit the wall..
Game of Thrones - Denaerys is pretty much immortal, and Cersei is the hyper-aggressive one. Along with the amount of characters that get their dicks cut off. How nobody sees that GRRM is a closet cuck is beyond me. To be fair, there are redemptive characters in it - littlefinger, John Snow, that wildling girl etc.
Perhaps I'm only noticing what stands out, but these in particular stood out.
Watching Mindhunter atm, it's pretty reasonable.

Fiction can't be used for evidence, but it is useful for teaching. A fictional character can still serve as a template or a cautionary tale.
KeffirLime 5y ago
The type of fiction you see is in large part a representation of the times. What is acceptable in modern society, what sells, what's labelled inappropriate and what's condemned are all of paramount importance in establishing where culture is at and in what direction it's heading.
Not to mention the influence fiction has had and continues to have on society as a whole.
Glad you clarified and hope to see more discussion around it.
Karadra 5y ago
Already tried that in Moçambique, didn't work well...
BurnoutRS 5y ago
Knowledge, like matter, is neither created nor destroyed. All that exists in the world exists in one of two states; that which is known, and that which is unknown.
As such, to a certain degree we can discuss fiction without running into the territory of errant horseshit. For example I can cite lyrics from Kesha's latest album and discuss the legitimacy of her rape allegation in the dr luke case. We can debate whether she just played the victim card and wielded the power of her fame to get a better deal career wise. The whole period of time when she couldnt release music and got super vocal about the lawsuits and how unfair they were, could have been her whining that it was too hard to get her victimbux.
What I cant do is just cite Kesha lyrics and say "check it out, she's got jesus on her neck-uh-us-us-us, hypergamy is real yo"
Oh yeah, original point being that all ficition is inspired by life. People cant generate completely organic ideas, theyre all a product of synthesis. we associate ideas, make connections... Nobody does anything without a reason. rarely is that reason just "iunno, no reason". So if someone makes a piece of art, theres an environmental reason they had a certain well of ideas to draw from and then a personal reason they chose those specific ideas.
If you grew up in scotland, youd be pretty shit at writing about growing up in africa. It wouldnt be impossible, but you might choose to write about scotland because its what you know and comes a lot easier. If you chose to write about growing up in africa, you run the risk of your writing being tainted by your experiences growing up in scotland.
This is why people have to be careful with fiction. Especially since we're all here for having bought into a sizeable chunk of bullshit at one point in our lives. The penduluum swings both ways and it is in the nature of man, as one George Constanza did, to, upon identifying an extreme flaw in his behaviour, change to just the opposite of the perceived flaw.
Watch a trademark niceguy white kid start sagging his pants and listening to rap, like pimp c kinda shit and walk around talking about ho's like he knows everything about women now.
