Posting this here because it's the only forum where it can be discussed by men freely, and if you have any doubts about the lengths that SJWs will go, this is where they are at.
The problem today is that there is no rational public discourse about whether creating a blacklist of people who have been accused of something is a terrible fucking idea or not, without some hysteric accusing you of defending harassers.
These guys who are accused of harassing women are mainly guilty of being aspies. I sympathize with the women who had to deal with sleazy investors, even though I would be willing to bet they were in no physical danger from these kind of guys.
Building apps and lists based on the natural feminine instinct for proportionate response will turn any kind of blacklist into a serious problem for anyone who crosses some psycho.

"Y Combinator’s recent email blast to thousands of entrepreneurs asked them to fill out a form with the names of investors who may have engaged in “inappropriate sexual or romantic behavior” toward company founders."
"Accusers could choose to remain anonymous, the email stated. Those named could be cut off from Demo Day, Y Combinator's highly anticipated biannual event when entrepreneurs pitch venture capitalists on some of the year’s hottest deals. Partners at Y Combinator are also discussing the creation of an app that would use this data."
If silicon valley wants the regulatory hammer to come down, making blacklists is a great way to do it.

I am an entrepreneur and part of the Silicon Valley system. There truly exists some obnoxious behavior form VCs, which are mainly finance people (think wall street rejects), and are not techies themselves.
.....
On the other hand a most these female "wanterpenours", are not engineers themselves, but usually another "person with an idea", which are a dime a dozen, and have no value themselves expect their female SMV. Unscroupoulus VCs know this, and they try to get advantage how they can (the old Tits or GTFO in practice).
.....
On the flip side there are many female players in Silicon Valley that fully take advantage of their sexuality to get an advantage over other people. When I was working on the hot startup that many people wanted to get in, I had countless of girls shamelessly flirt and get overly sexual with me, and then just wanting to get a job there, or me dropping the resume to the right person there. It got so annoying that I stopped saying where I worked. This is the flip side of objectification (not the usual male to female sexual objectification, but female to male "resource collecting" objectification, which is more hidden and insidious).
.....
In many cases, this is actually good for true entrepreneurs (either male or female). VCs will be more reluctant to take meetings with female 'wantrepreneurs' that have no visible value. Overall females that use their sexuality got get ahead will get less attention, which will be redirected towards people that provide real value to the ecosystem. (The true geeks and builders).
.....
Fun fact: Also this bad VC behavior is not male only. I got asked out by a female VC partner after pitching her an idea. (this is from a major reputable firm). Didn't think much of it, but moved on to talking to other VCs and stopped talking to this partner. But also I don't buy the "VC has power over you" narrative. I think they do when you have no value to provide back expect your sexuality.
.....
TLDR: I just think VCs in general are finance people, (not techies), and they tend to be sharks. Many of these female "wanterpenours" embroiled in these scandals don't provide real value to their ecosystem, but have been skating through by using their sexuality. There will be a 'chill effect' towards this type of behavior, which will be beneficial to the real geeks and techies and true builders of value. If you are a techie, just ignore the noise, and keep on building.

I would argue entrepreneurs are not usually the actual builders. Smart women can be very good at getting orbiters to build software.
Women are also necessary in consumer companies because if your product doesn't have women, it has nobody, you might as well run a fedora, katana, and realdoll emporium.
However, feminists can be worse than useless in moonshot enterprise, scientific, or infrastructure companies because the crux of 3rd wave feminism is the idea that smart women have a shared destiny with stupid women, which enables parasitic behavior by the latter group on very lean, very high risk ventures. Some men quite reasonably recognize these SJWs as "not wanted on the voyage."
A bunch of legally protected green haired tone police circling for a mutiny to install one of their retard queens is the last thing anyone wants in the venture they are investing their lives in.
TRP can provide a more nuanced understanding of women and how to manage relationships with them once you own your shit as a man. The "she uses sexuality to climb," trope, is true but not really meaningful in any moral sense.
There are specific feminine strategies women use in relationships that TRP talks about, which spill over into corporate life (because when you have a hammer...). A few men also adopt these tactics and use them with some success, but usually at the expense of the respect of other men. Wealthy guys without a lot of male friends fall into this category. Its also why geeks with money aren't generally considered alpha males, because "alpha" is an artifact of having the respect of other men. Some TRP guys will call them "Dark Triad" personalities, but "Cocksucker" is probably the most vivid description we use for someone who uses feminine tactics to win at business, as opposed to net neutral/positive tactics that generate legitimate value.
The problem I have is that it is degenerate to allow said cocksuckers membership in "protected classes." It's not about women, gays, racial minorities etc. The objection I have is to providing official protection to people whose behavior destroys value.

The only word that matters is "accused." Another example of the cultural marxist form of fascism. Lol at "accusers can remain anonymous."
I'm very far to the right as far as guns, Islam, and immigration are concerned. Other than that, I have always agreed with the shitlibs as far things like civil rights, abortion, and drugs etc. I am at a point now where I will always support the most right wing person there is even if it goes against my values. This cultural marxist SJW threat needs to be fuckstomped. I don't want to see any fascism take hold in the west but if it comes down to it, the right wing form will be least detrimental to me.
TheRedThrowAwayPill 9y ago
As the resident muslim guy, I'm generally right wing in most things even if I don't fully agree with them. But I do agree with shitlibs to some extent as well.
What I don't like about the left today is that somehow they are using muslim women to turn us into yet-another-oppression-Olympian group which they intended to use for their own social gain.
I hate that.
I liked it better when I was relatively left the fuck alone.

Yeah, everybody is racist, and when they call whites racist, the white people are so busy doing a song-and-dance to show that they're NOT racist so the rest of the leftist shit is not addressed, and can slide right by.
TheRedThrowAwayPill 9y ago
It's worse than that.
The left imports people from outside of their country who immediately have to be on welfare which starts the vicious cycle of allowing them to buy more free votes that wont bite the hand that feeds.
In the US we have South America to fill that role. In Europe the have to import their migrants from across the Mediterranean.
Very obvious, very effective "Democracy".

They are the current moral supremacists of our culture. They have taken the place the religious right used to hold.

"Venture capital is more of a boys club than even Wall Street. Of the five top venture firms — Sequoia, Greylock, Accel, Andreessen Horowitz and Benchmark — four lack a female partner. (Benchmark, the largest investor in Uber, has one female partner, whom it poached from Greylock in May, amid the controversies at the ride-hailing giant.)"
And you wonder why, when the rest of America was crumbling in the 2008 financial crisis, or really any of the "down" periods for other industries, we were booming. There's a reason that this hippie centric of the bay area grew a tech industry capable of hitting new grads off with a 6 figure salary if they could pass a basic algorithms & data structures based interview. (While the rest of the non-finance world was largely not hiring the new kids or paying them ~30-60k for entry level work).
All of this success happened because it was a boys club. It let to chaos and serious ethical breaches throughout the past 20 years, sure. There was a lot of bad behavior, a lot of unethical shit too, but beta males and alpha males worked synergistically to make a shit ton of money and build a lot of amazing stuff.
Where men are successful, women will flock to leech. The NBA, Wall Street, hollywood, etc, wherever the 'patriarchy' controls an industry, there are hordes of women trying to break down the doors as gold-diggers, as tone-policers, as nesting instinct HR infestations, as SJWs, etc.
You put a bunch of highly motivated, intelligent beta males marshalled by 1 alpha in a garage, they'll shit out gold eventually. And then come the gold diggers. Except the gold diggers of Sillicon Valley are smart. They aren't poking holes in trojans and trying to get Dwayne Wade's ONS pumpndump baby to lock down their paycheck. They are trying to redefine the social rules governing the industry by manipulating betas who are quick to virtue signal (Look at how diverse we are! Look at how we are 40% women, we are progressive unlike Uber! I'm a feminist CEO, I'm not like Spiegel or Kalahnick, I'm going to sign this stupid shit to virtue signal to protect my company's public image!)
Women come in and inevitably some men try to virtue signal to impress those woman. This is a town of beta aspies who never learned how to deal with female shit tests and they all turn on each other for pussy. Yes, some alphas who don't get a shit are fucking their fine ass executive assistant and abusing the power dynamic to fuck way above their dadbod grade, but these guys are 1 out of 20 at best. The majority of people are socially unable to deal with women infiltrating their space and rewriting the social rules about who should be hired, who should be shamed, what should merit good press and bad press, what things are now considered "sexist", etc.
And because a few douchebag alphas are out there drunk on power using their positions to dick down every girl they couldn't have earlier in life, there are some pretty shitty scandals. Enough to fuel the narrative that every tech bro is out here raping these poor wage-gap victims.
Thus it becomes part of the cultural narrative that SV is sexist / tech is sexist. And more rules and policing occurs. It's a never ending cycle, and it's a part of why the tech industry is strong now, but nowhere near as explosive as it was during the 2008-2013 era. Men create amazing shit, but then other men let women come in and ruin that shit.

You can at least have the dignity to do some fact checking before speaking on an industry you apparently aren't even involved in. Here's a handy chart for you, dated June 16, 2009: https://www.cnet.com/news/tech-layoffs-the-scorecard/
As you can see, in 2008/2009 there were a TON of layoffs at major and mid-size tech companies. Just because they all didn't go completely out of business that doesn't mean they weren't hit hard. For fucks sake the tech industry survived for the same reason that places like Walmart & Costco survived. And apparently you never heard of the dot com bubble? Don't worry, with all the ridiculous valuations (from VC firms such as the five listed above) another one is probably coming soon.
Let's be real here the only awesome stuff happening during that time period was coming from Apple. If the tech industry is declining it's because of a lack of new ideas. Every college grad with a CS degree thinks they can make some cheesy social media app and become a billionaire. It worked for Snapchat so why not them too? Let's all start making fucking CRUD social media apps for 13 year old kids. You call that creating amazing shit? Yeah, okay.
Yet it's interesting to note that the only reason why Spiegel is a billionaire is because of support from a [LARGELY female user base] (http://mashable.com/2013/11/20/snapchat-users-women/). So yeah, he can thank the vagina owners for that one.
Apart from Tesla and advances in AI, nothing truly innovative has happened since Steve Jobs died. And it's not because of "the wymmnz" infiltrating the boys club with their sexual harassment rules. No. It's because "the boys" are coming up with and investing in ideas that are juvenile as fuck. Uber and Snapchat are not innovative.
Well all that virtue signaling must be working for Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, & Mark Zuckerberg... all married, all blue pill, all speak on diversity in tech, and all the richest fucking guys in the industry. Oh and Richard Branson -- not as rich as the others but still another billionaire who wrote [this article] (http://www.cnbc.com/id/49329996) and more recently [this article] (https://www.virgin.com/richard-branson/why-we-need-support-more-female-entrepreneurs). How beta of him.

You get my upvote because the issue deserves a gloves off discussion.
Cutting out the sudden viability of both electric cars and AI creates a pretty weak straw man for innovation in the last 9 years.
That we use the phrase, "Uber for x" suggests that they are more innovative than you give them credit for.
Gates, Bezos, and Zuckerberg were not married when they created their wealth, and they are only virtue signalling after the fact. It's practically knocking away the ladder behind them. "Oooh look, now that I am a billionaire, I can be benevolent - and if all of you just be benevolent like me, you can be billionaires too." Nope.
The shitty ideas that wash up on Product Hunt are not because of a broken boys club, but they are the effect of politicized environments that foster "diversity of good," where certain kinds of risk taking and risk takers are more actively discouraged.
Just means risk takers need to be even more committed to being outsiders.

Calling me a fool, an idiot, and trivializing the way I write won't distract from your obvious twisting of my words. Nice try though. You basically took my replies to the previous post and responded to them as out of context as you could.
C'mon are you kidding? Sigh but in case you aren't, Snapchat's valuation is coming primarily from its projected revenue estimates. Where will that revenue come from? Ads. How do the ads generate revenue? Advertisers pay Snapchat to show the ads to users and those users - 70% of which are vagina owners - view/interact with the ads. It's really that simple.
Whether or not they will be profitable in the long run isn't the point. Investors are expecting to get a ROI one way or another whether that's through an exit or actual profit. Call it a ponzi scheme if you want. But like it or not so long as Snapchat has that user base they're worth billions.
You're going off on a tangent. I'm not talking about how sophisticated AI is. No shit it's still in its infancy. But don't try and downplay the progress that's been made in machine learning between 2010 and now. And in regards to Tesla, I don't see anyone else successfully relaunching reusable rockets ..so yes, to me and many others that's pretty innovative. Be a naysayer all you want.
Firstly, I was referring to 2008 - 2013 as per the previous comment. Did I say nothing good was happening right now? Reading comprehension skills, buddy. It's amazing how that little word "if" can make all the difference.
Yeah, because the releases of the iPhone during that time period were no big deal. Like, at all.
Again, you're wandering off into the woods. I don't care about the honesty of the words. The fact of the matter is -- in response to the previous comment -- virtue-signaling or not, those founders/CEOs have managed to establish a decent reputation in regards to females in their organizations. Whether it's all pretend/politics doesn't matter. The point is that these men make an effort to keep their shit together and they don't have sexual harassment accusations being thrown at them left and right.
I would go through your post sentence for sentence and point out more of your faulty reading comprehension skills, but I have a life so.. yeah.

nothing to see, really.
There was a fuckwit recently who was trying to create a firm that ranks firms based on how socially equitable they are. Nothing but a front for an extortion / racketeering business.
0xdada 9y ago
If socially equitable companies did better than average, there would be a hedge fund that levered themselves to the moon to arbitrage that opportunity. No such fund or market beating investment strategy seems to exist, so it's pretty unlikely to be a thing. Nobody made money trading green companies either.

Business is for the brutal, the cutthroat, the bold, the antagonistic, the creative and the headstrong.
No one matching that criteria gives a shit about some YC 'blacklist'. If you really need someone off that list to move forward, you'll get in contact with them - doesn't matter how many tears are shed about your lack of social equity.
On that note - I wonder what Paul Graham has to say about it.
[deleted] 9y ago
Not quite the same but along similar lines - A distinguished scientist in the UK was run out of town (metaphorically) because of saying a throw-away comment about female colleagues.

More venture capitalist money for the rest of us then.
Throwawaysteve123456 9y ago
Okay. So I'm not sure if I understand. But compiling a list of people that are not yet found guilty of a crime, and holding them under the category of someone under the assumption of guilt, is a form of libel. They can be liable under tort.

Public accusation without evidence in this manner is pure slander.
