For the past 6 months, I've been working security at a nightclub in a small city near me. It's a slow work day and a few hours before my club shift, so I thought I'd share some observations/tips with y'all from my time there.
-
No Girl is that good looking: At this club, all the servers/bartenders are women. When my buddy introduced me around before my first shift, I was a little taken aback by the fact that of the four girls he introduced, the least attractive one was a solid 8. Fast forward 4-6 weeks after several late night after parties/ staff get togethers and without makeup and various devices to lift/hold/tighten, those three 9s and an 8 are an 8 and three 7s. Lesson: Assume every woman is 1-2 points less attractive than you first see, because in all likelihood, they are.
-
Women are abundant: Something happens when you spend your weekend night's surrounded by and interacting with women who have made themselves as attractive as possible, you get bored with hot. Or rather, your appreciation of 'hot' is refined to a level of 'Yes, and?' When you have a girl offer to blow you to avoid the $10 cover, your frame of reference on women and sex calibrate pretty damn fast.
- Status>Looks: I can tell as they walk in which guys blow their load tonight v. which guys will blow their paycheck. It isn't their 'look' that makes or breaks them (though it helps) it's status and attitude. The key is being easily identifiable as; A) fun and/or B) important. Exhibit A is a goofy looking pale chubby dude who shaves his chest and looks like a discount Jersey Shore extra. He always leaves with a decent girl because he goes out on the dance floor and dances like a jackass and enjoys himself. Exhibit B is a bouncer we had a while back, pudgy and with a face that looks like he took a hit from a frying pan, the kid spent his first night moping because his 'cheating whore wife' was 'leaving him'. Despite all this, he ended the night with 3 numbers from solid 7s, could've closed that night if he were at all on his game. Status beats Looks nearly every time.
-
DON'T Bang the bartender: This goes for shot girls/dancers/bar-backs/etc. Don't do it. They're a bundle of red flags and issues contained in a bottle that gets hit on 100s of times a night. DON'T do it.
-
(aka 4-a)...but let everyone think you are: Of the girls that work/worked at this club, I've 'allegedly' banged at least 40% of them. The reality is off by 40%, but the pre-selection of the most popular girls in the club is useful. Even if you're a regular and can regularly approach the bartender and exchange friendly pleasantries while holding her attention for 30 seconds, others will notice.
- (aka 4-b):Given that you aren't going to listen because no guy half drunk at 2AM with a hot chick half naked in front of him is thinking about the sage wisdom of Uncle Gaius, just remember to wrap it, and try to pay enough attention to spot the HUGE red flags.
In closing, I'd definitely recommend all guys try nightlife work at some point in there lives. It's an easy way to make money rather than spend it on weekends and it only serves to reinforce some key principles. I'd especially recommend it to guys with approach anxiety or oneitis.

How big to you have to be in order to be a bouncer? I'm 5'10" tall and around 170 pounds; at maybe 14% body fat. What should be my goal if I want to be seriously considered as a bouncer?

Hate clubs but went to several over my PUA days. Good practice but I will never go to one again. I also get use to hot girls at daily yoga - ho hum.

How do you even become a bouncer or work security at a club? Especially if I'm not big?

All the nightlife work I've done I heard about through a friend. In my area, clubs and bars hire semi-regularly if you have an ear to the industry.
If all else fails, just go to your 3 favorite local spots and ask if they're hiring. The industry has a pretty consistent turnover rate, so if you're willing to take the bottom rung jobs to start and have a decent head on your shoulders, there's usually an opening for you.
The guys who have worked at my spot range from 140lb to nearly 300lb, and 5'5" to 7'. Size helps, but most owners who know what they're doing want guys that know how to manage a crowd and have enough brains to keep a fight from happening above all.

Can confirm, in the 90s, I worked with a guy whose last job was security at a club. He was not a paragon of apex-level SMV at all. Fat, dull intellect, flat affect, poor hygiene, wild unkempt hair, even a neckbeard. Despite all this, he was FULL of stories about young women he bedded from the club; the BJs, even anal.
That said, he was not pulling the top percentile women at all, but there was a LOT of pussy to be had for even the lowest-tier club worker.

This has been my experience too.
That is why I laugh at all the people on here that swear you just need to lift bro, and if you make money it means you're beta bux.
You're not alpha if you're broke as dirt and have no status.
Women care about looks about as much as I care about their degrees and careers.

I think that your point about Abundance illustrated in item #2 is, in my opinion, probably the most important.
I was in a similar position for many years when I was a touring roadie for musical acts. I learned early that regardless of a woman's SMV/status, what they crave is Access. Access to the Alpha, to the Tingles, to Powerful Emotional States and they will trade their sexuality for even the promise of attaining those things.
While you and I have been in situations that cast us as actual gatekeepers to the situations that can give a woman what she craves, every man is the gatekeeper of those experiences.
The side bar, the outside manosphere blogs and numerous posts here state and illustrate this cornerstone of RPT and Sexual Strategy for both men and women;
Women are the Gate Keepers of Sex- Men are the Gate Keepers of Emotion/Commitment/Attention
Any/Every man that can recognize and internalize this basic premise will not only open themselves to true Abundance they will gain(regain) control of their Masculinity and the best parts about being a Man
tl;dr- If a man can become the true gate keeper of what he has, that every woman wants; Access to the strong emotion states, attention and commitment she craves. Then he can pursue his Sexual Strategy to whatever conclusion he desires

how would you recommend getting a club job if you've got no experience or training?
What specifically did you do?

I agree. I used to work at a normal 10-20$ cover nightclub and banged hella sluts. I now work at an upscale night bar/lounge and just see all the women go for guys with the $$$. It's tough to bang girls at this nightclub since it only attracts the golddiggers or women looking solely for status.
A_yoshi_Egg 10y ago
are the women at the upscale bar more attractive then the 10-20$ one?

Oh hell yeah. Me and my other bouncing buddies are always joking about where they fly these bitches out from haha

How did you get into it? I'm a photographer and I've always been interested in doing it.
