Just in case you somehow haven't gotten the hint that marriage is a terrible idea, I've decided to add another case to the long and steadily growing list of divorce horror stories.

Meet Nicole Frusciante. She is the ex-wife of ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante. After their divorce, John was forced to pay Nicole $20k per month (that's $240,000 per year), but apparently that wasn't enough for her. She is currently fighting for a $75,000 monthly alimony payment.

Keep in mind she was only married to him for 4 years, they have no kids, and he is no longer in the band.

How in the fuck does alimony make any sense at all when there are no kids? Also, celebs shouldn't have to pay more just because they have more. What did she bring to that marriage that a middle class housewife doesn't bring to her marriage? What does a middle class housewife bring to that marriage that a lower class housewife doesn't bring to her's? I get it if a woman gives up her career for the kids, but she should have to show that was the case, and she should be getting enough to support children, which has nothing to do with the father's income.

Yeah it doesn't really add up. We're probably missing something, because alimony payments are basically just payments for what the woman "gave up on". But in her case she didn't really give up much to the outside viewer.

We can do a simple analysis here of what she contributed to his life.

Step 1: Were you a necessary element that contributed to his success or were you a biproduct of said success?

If you answered: Necessary Element - Perhaps you could reasonably get a McDonald's burger flipper's annual wage for your contribution. Most people that contributed to his success don't actually get anything out of it. See: His father. His mother. The teachers in his life. His bandmates. ETC.

If you answered: Biproduct - Go fuck yourself, you're a leach and deserve the highest authority of a McDonalds burger flipper.

Oh, and I checked out her "band". It's complete fucking garbage. Even WITH this guy in it.

It'll be interesting to see how John handles divorce court. Vincent Gallo, a close friend of his, once described John in an interview as being the type to write off all other domestic concerns to focus on music. It's all he thinks about and all he cares about. I'm sure he'd happily just throw money at her to make her go away, but $75k monthly seems ridiculous, especially since he is now much less commercialized and makes much less money than he used to.

Here's what alimony should be: Compensation for having the value of your labor decrease during your marriage. That's it. If you were a hairdresser and made $28k/yr, and married a billionaire and got divorced a year later, you shouldn't get alimony. Your labor did not decrease in value.

Well priced in fair value she lost her clients and may need to retrain. So what is that? $5k, maybe $50k?

NO. In some states, but not mine, your new wife's earning are figured into a new earnings statement, which will usually result in increased alimony. Basically a new wife would be paying alimony to your ex too.

These are things you would have to do long before a divorce even starts. After it starts, you come under the control of the court, which will order you to not do these very things. And if you are caught doing them, you get to go to jail for failure to obey a court order.

I've seen men get crippled by this in real life. Men making 6 figures living worse than a student in college.

I've been there in the room when a man asks a lawyer "What can I do about recovering half of the XX thousand that my wife took from the safe in our home?". Pleading with the lawyer, rephrasing the question and hoping for a different answer than the one received. The same man that told me "if we ever divorce, she would never take a penny, she's not like that at all".

She crucified him on the cross.

Before he put the plan in action to leave her, I told him what he needed to know. She will take every penny and every two years she will take him back to court to fight for more. I told him about what happened to the other men I know who went through the court system. I educated him on how to prepare for everything, a list of what to document and arrange. It didn't matter. A lifetime of programming made him believe in his heart that "she's not like that".

Think it's over once you're crippled financially? She better have a job, because if she doesn't and moves in with family temporarily or finds a branch to swing to, you are fucked. That's 16 hours a day that she will put into fucking your ass. You are now playing timed chess against an opponent with 5x the time to plot their move.

She will withhold your child from you under whatever agreement you have arranged. You will have to call the police. No they won't do anything, they will tell you to go back to court. You will spend more time and money on legal proceedings and so will she. Then you'll get to pay for her expensive lawyer. Oh, wait, you were paying for the mortgage and utilities while you were separated and in the divorce proceedings so you wouldn't default and fuck your credit? Well, that doesn't count towards alimony. She was using common money to live while you were separated? Doesn't count either. Pay this ridiculous amount monthly, and you're in arrears of X months.

Also you need to get court ordered life insurance on yourself because if your ass happens to die while you are fulfilling your life purpose of being an ATM machine, she won't be able to get her mani/pedi. And she needs that to attract her next victim. You are now in financial prison for X years.

Every salary increase or even randomly, she will request more cash or request information to get more cash. You can also bet that your kid will be attending every single possible camp, outing, school event, expensive art project. You're either paying for the thing, or if you're lucky then you'll pay half.

Now that we got the money out of the way, let's talk about the kid(s).

She will fuck that kid's head up faster than you can fix it. "Your daddy is very stupid and he's a bad person". Fun shit to deal with while you have your kid for those two days every two weeks right? Then this ex wife finds some halfwit to be with, and now you have to deal with him being a father figure in your own child's life. Are you prepared for this man to come up to you and tell you how he thinks your own child should be raised? If you swing, you'll lose your job and you won't be able to see your kid.

Don't worry, both him and your ex wife will respect you and be courteous when you come to pick up your kid. "Did you teach her how to swear, or were one of your whores around to teach her? Yeah I know you have been waiting to pick her up for 35 minutes but I had to finish preparing her. Jack says that you don't know how to raise a child, he's right. I need $300 for the school trip and $200 for school supplies. Child support doesn't cover that. Would you like to go back to court?"

I'm surprised that when this happens more men don't opt out with some .22 calibre asprin applied directly to the forehead. After all most life insurance policies don't cover suicide within the first 2 years of having it and I doubt family court can force an insurance company to pay out since those companies have a lot more lawyers on hand to deal with shit.

For her it is supposed to be no more than 2 years (1/2 length of marriage) if necessary. But see below, women game the Courts and can keep it going for decades....

She filed in Los Angeles, CA. In California there no fault divorce and for spousal support there is long term (over 10 years) and short term (under 10 years). For short term it is supposed to be limited in time (around 1/2 the length of the marriage). But can be long enough for the other person to find a job and support themselves.

However, practising divorce law myself the woman even for short term get around the time limits and often never get a job, other ones will go back to school (usually 4 years of night classes at law school) and the guy ends up footing the bill. Divorce law in California is so sick, so biased and unjust to me as a lawyer I stopped doing family law entirely. What was once just issues of what was moral and immoral became legislation to force what others thought was moral.

Litigating this her lawyers are just throwing out a demand knowing in settlement it will come down and they can get their bill paid for by him. Hence throw out ridiculous numbers and fight it out longer to make more money for everyone but the guy who pays for it all.

They are in essence supposed to be unbiased navigators of the law that you pay to help you in your time of need. They understand all sense of legalese and can use that knowledge for both the civic good or for more corrupt reasons. Nothing in this world is absolute though and it's important to remember that lawyers are people. Some people do good deeds some people do bad deeds. For example many lawyers do a certain number of cases a year pro bono as an act of community service.

I guess a TL;DR explanation would be they're paid to understand the law so if you have a court case you don't have to slog through books that stretch back hundreds of years to properly know how to defend yourself in court.

Fighting each one of them will just deplete your resources and youll spend years of your life fighting shit, while theyll come up with workarounds faster than you can fight them. Fighting the system from within the rules set by the system is an unwinnable uphill battle.

"dont get married" is a complete solution. it attacks, it john-galts the complete system. it lets it collapse under its own lunacy. you have to step back, give them rope and watch them strangle themselves, and then come back to generously dictate the conditions of their capitulation.

The man has a point though. Alimony is one of those big deal things. And we gotta start somewhere.

I had a conversation with a girl at work a while back (previous role). I wasn't trying to fuck her but I know she gets around. I know she has the whole "no man will commit to me" thing going on despite being late 20s but pretty good looking. Yet, even she was finding a guy willing to commit difficult to find. That is, one who wasn't a complete loser. Let's face it any girl can get a low-rent factory worker who lives in his Mother's basement with barely two pennies to rub together at the end of the week to commit. A decent, built guy with a good job? Well that's a whole other animal isn't it.

But anyway, I was talking with this girl who at some point asked me if I was getting married. I just said flat out no way. After the initial shock, I just let her in on how badly men get destroyed at the end of marriage added to that the statistical likelihood of the wife going colder sexually than dying whale and most likely resembling one and purposely sabotaging the marriage meant that the likelihood of me taking the risk let alone my desire to do so was very much completely gone.

After some initial reactionary hamstering and "yes, but..." type shit, I think she almost had a light-bulb moment that the simple fact she existed and happen to be cute right now may not be enough after-all. We got onto different topics and eventually she said rather randomly, "Yeah, men do kinda get a bad deal from marriage..." I didn't respond to this at all, just carried on what I was talking about initially.

The point is, women at the moment, while AWALT, are not completely feminist brainwashed just yet. So while there's a fight to have to get something back there is at least some of them on our side.

How we dismantle an ingrained system like alimony, well, I have no idea. But having a target in the first place is a start.

I'm with you. My point was just that, if you target it at all, you should do it from the safe position outside of marriage. If you do that, your withholding of commitment will IMHO weight more than your activism. And also, just explaining to somebody why you dont want something isnt activism. Activism would be getting political, organizing, rallying, having pressure groups, etc. Thats a waste of time. Just withhold marriage and lean back.

When I say "Don't get married" I'm not saying it because we need to "boycott the system". I'm saying it because it is the smarter decision as of right now.

just thinking out loud, wonder how long ago they were sepearated? he broke off from RHCP a while ago and has been on his own doing solo stuff so he's not making the big bux that he was.

with only 4 years of marriage, that is considered short term in most states and the main horrors of divorce rape may not apply, but im assuming its california and they do things a bit different. i feel for the guy, John's been through quite a bit, some of it self inflicted.

yes, i agree with both points, his backing vocals were just as crucial as his guitar. i hated to see him leave, it took a lot for him to get back the 2nd time. the exwipe was no where around when he was making those songs, thus shouldnt be entitled to the royalty money

Makes me think about that UFC fighter who bet that he could win against ronda rhousey. He put 100 000$ on the table and if she loses she makes him a sandwich. A dude who trained every day for a living and was only 50% as strong as me could have a real chance at kicking my ass. She is strong enough to hurt me and its not unusual for me to be strongest guy in a room. If I trained for it as a living or even a few years then though then zero chance.

The part that angers me the most is that he left RHCP in 2009. They were married for 4 years. Meaning, the bulk of his fortune was likely earned before they got married. In what sane world is she entitled to any of this? He hasn't done shit since he left the band. Sure, he gets paychecks from album sales, but come on.

Alimony is a marriage 1.0 construct that has been corrupted into a tool of punishment for marriage 2.0. The original intent of alimony was so that a woman who through no fault of her own had to part from her husband would be provided for and she wouldn't need to you know sell her body on the street corner to survive. If she was at fault (aka. a cheating skank) she got nothing because it was assumed that the other man would be stuck providing for her.

If that's the case I remember, she cashed the check and demanded more. The judge ruled that by cashing the check she agreed to the terms of the agreement and wasn't entitled to ask for more.

I'm not so sure about this. Don't we want the best genes making the most babies? Sure some guys get lucky to reach the top 1%, but most men who are smart ambitious and tenacious can get there with the same amount of luck available to anyone.

I think real problems will erupt not because of sex thirsty betas, but when food and rent prices start to consume the large majority of income for the bottom 2/3... or when NFL and Amerikan idol aren't available anymore
