Hi guys,
There is something going on online that needs immediate action — Online censorship of free speech and loss of online anonymity.
First, if you agree with this message, please spread it aggressively and start gathering support for removing these laws, the UK parliament just dismissed a petition of almost half a million signatures to remove this law, the governments are doubling down so it will not be easy to combat.
The laws involved are:
- Kids Online Safety Act (US)
- Online Safety Act 2023 (UK)
- etc. there are more on the way in Canada and other countries
Firstly, none of these laws are for safety of any kind let alone children, the UK government admits that they are aimed at targeting "harmful" adult discourse online: https://europeanconservative.com/articles/news/uk-government-admits-using-online-safety-act-to-monitor-anti-immigration-opinions/
The words "safety" and "kids" in the names of these laws is deliberate misdirection, they are aimed at targeting "harmful" adult discourse online — they have even gone after Wikipedia, but the gambling sites somehow get a free pass.
Both of these laws impose a "duty of care" for online platforms against "user generated content" and forces them to police the content on behalf of the governments. This is framed as lack of control over "user generated content" being shared and then experienced by another or many users, it is about controlling the content economy. Anyone caught failing this "duty" can be fined up to £18 million or 10% of their annual turnover. The laws also target end-to-end encryption so, they want to monitor and scan your personal chat logs.
The laws are dystopian, top opaque while communalizing and oversocializing personal privacy. This is a coup against democracy and informed consent.
You will have:
- No more private messaging apps
- No more online anonymity
- No more forums
There will probably be AI-driven social micromanagement.
Actions you can take now:
- Use encrypted apps
- Support digital rights organizations
- Political organization and action (petitions etc.)
- Raise awareness on other platforms
The more time passes, the more irreversible the surveillance laws become, inaction just makes it worse.
The main case the UK government (probably others too) citing against the Manosphere is the false adjacency to "incels" which I will cover in part II of this post.

If you can, get your influencers to cover the topic and try your best to spam your local petitions on social media. Free speech and free user generated content are a privilege.
If you do not want to do this personally, then make use of your online anonymity.

realistically they cant ever fully succeed. they can target the big tech companies since they are easy targets, and although these laws are new, this sort of censorship and invasion of privacy has been going on for quite some time. its much harder for them to go after small individually owned sites, especially if they have good operational security. take kiwifarms for example. they tried repeatedly to take it down, but its still alive and well. the internet is too decentralized to be fully censored. we have reverse proxies, private servers and vpns, tor, isps and hosting companies that are outside their jurisdiction. it'll just get harder and harder to use mainstream sites. the underground will continue to thrive

The new laws target online anonymity and user generated content platforms. The small individually owned sites depend on larger, more centralized, hosting companies and payment processors. Collective Shout has made examples of what could be done to centralized B2B dependencies to censor content. Even if there was an underground, glowies will fill it with radioactive pizza and fuck it up for everyone else.
No, this is a new pattern. They couldn't get away with something like this in the 90s. Same governments, new generation.
There needs to be a safe spaces for the crazies for normal people to feel safe to be honest online.

Guys - please do read this, listen and take note.
I know we like joking around and having fun, but this shit is serious.
The first step to a complete take over of a democracy is NOT censorship. The first step is to censor discussion of censorship. Its a necessary pre-conidtion for the total domination fo state over the individual.
Take note, take heed, take action.

Yes, we need to actually raise awareness on all platforms and take action. Right and left do not matter anymore if there is no conversation.
The immediate effect of these laws will be small non-mainstream platforms being fined and shut down.

BBC News is now blocking news from Gaza and Ukraine: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cj3l0e4vr0ko
This is all happening very fast literally within days. There are rumours of US VPN users not being able to use YouTube.
