Anyone who lives in Anchorage or have lived there in the past, what's the social scene/vibe like over there? Is there much of a party culture amongst the college age folks? What kind of person is the average guy that you'll run into on the street? Attractive girls in abundance? There any ghetto black folks? Thank you for your time.

I knew a guy who was stationed there. Summer solstice is a 24h party and the sun never goes down, just kinda hugs the horizon. Winter is ripe for seasonal affective disorder; also incentivizes bringing a warm body home to cuddle the cold nights away. Not sure about the contemporary street scene, but there are 4 main industries/groupings that don't necessarily commingle well. Military, Oil, Fishing, and Native.
College girls are a better bet than places where military gals might go on leave. These have gotten miscalibrated as on-duty 8s when they are shore 304s.
