hello brothers. I recently immigrated to US from Europe and have been experiencing culture shock ever since; women, values, food - you name it. one notable difference is the amount of fatherless men here that have never caught a beating and think it's okay to disrespect people and things they hold dear (like family, religion and so forth), since the law is protecting them. the usual stance on this matter is "it's just words" and "stop being insecure"; back in Europe, we don't go around knocking on each-other's heads with a club for any reason, but there's a certain line that, as a man, you don't cross - a line that doesn't seem to exist in US anymore (the older American population tells me it was different before). if you cross that line, the normal outcome is that there's a fist-fight, and while things like stabbings do happen, they are rare - therefore if you disrespect someone, more often than not you know what you're doing and a beating is a price you're willing to pay. if cops were to even be involved, they'd just break it up and let everyone go their separate ways; at worst it's a night at the police department and you're free to go, no charge or anything, since it would destroy a man's reputation if he were to press charges against someone he had a fight with. here on the other hand, i see these weak men disrespecting others and then hiding behind either the cops or guns. my question would be: is educating disrespectful people in a language they understand the most 100% a guaranteed ticket to jail in US? i came here to earn some money; when i do get a chance to socialize, i find that that it's increasingly difficult to find young adult men and women that are not obnoxious, and this sometimes limits my interactions to older generations, which I welcome, but I would also like to meet younger people of my age (20s).
