Hey guys, reclcently I found myself doing something I never did, I just started crying randomly sometimes.
Yesterday I was listening to music and this song came up (nothing too sad, it's You belong to me by Dean Martin) and I started crying and don't know why. A few months ago, I was watching John Q alone and I bawled my eyes out. I've never done that before.
This makes me feel so weird. Like I said I rarely cried before and now I started crying to music and movies. What I think happened is since I followed RP, I don't talk to people about my problems anymore, especially to females. I just write it in my laptop and save the file somewhere. It helps me keep calm and solve things more effectively. But probably keeping it inside is causing this problem?
Does it happen to you? How can I control it? I don't want to be hanging out with a girl watching movies and suddenly started crying, that would ruin any chances xD

Yes it's a good thing to do when you're alone

Nothing much you can do about it. When you're about to cry just excuse yourself somewhere for a phonecall and let it out. If someone asked if you just cried, tell them you have some family business you'd rather not talk about

Thanks for all the replies guys. Glad to see I'm not the only one, seems like we all have emotional outbursts when we hold them in for too long. Any tips on avoiding crying in front of other people?

A few months back I finished my college and at graduation ceremony I almost burst into tears, had to stop myself for a second, other than that I'm a fucking stone and it is a bit annoying

Yes, did it yesterday and just now.
Rollo Tomassi says: Men (should) process things in this order: Instinct - Reason - Emotion.
So you see, men don't react impulsively to everything with emotion immediately, but we still have them and let them out I guess.

Happens to me here and there. Usually is I'm overwhelmed or there's something emotional that hasn't activated an emotional part of my brain for a while and I'm like wtf why am I tearing up?

Yes it's normal to have emotions and cry. I don't think it's normal to have random outbursts. I was crying last night watching stranger things because these kids all died horrible deaths. I think you can see the difference between random and empathetic emotions.

Yeah I can see that. Sometimes I empathize with the characters in a song, sometimes I get sad about things that have not even happened yet - like John Q preparing to die for his kid, I'm not a father but I can see myself in that situation doing the same thing. The problem is I have always empathized with people, but recently it's been on a higher level, resulting in sudden outbursts. I do feel better after crying, but I want to find out how to make it more controllable

You just delay the emotion. Men don't fully develop their prefrontal cortex until age 25 so you may have to just let your brain develop.

I do that all the time in my car, I was driving last week and had to pull to the side of the road to let all my anger and depression out

Sounds like you've got some bottled up stuff that you've either ignored or pretended like it doesn't exist. I'd recommend to go on a solo trip somewhere to unwind, for me camping or scenic towns always worked and maybe before that talk to a friend or just rant

that's a good advice. I've been on a few trips this year but always with other people. I miss camping solo, will do that
