Marriage at its most fundamental and universal is simply an agreement between a man and a woman where a man provides resources in exchange for exclusive reproductive rights from a woman. Any sensible marriage would be based on this principle. Marriage in the west is founded around the idea of romantic love and infatuation, which fade over time. The current script of so many women for example is to seek out a 'bad boy' and reform him and to marry him. They're looking for Christian Grey, but he's an abusive sociopath, so they settle for men with those qualities but without the money. They fall in love with the image these fakers create, but in time that image fades and their true deadbeat selves is revealed.

Where marriage is founded on the universal principle, women will adopt a different script and seek men with different qualities. They will realize their true value as mothers and caregivers and seek out working men who provide resources for the survival of the family. As time goes on, true love will grow from the seed of marriage. Women who don't give exclusive reproductive rights are as worthless as a deadbeat who won't take care of his woman.
