'#wandersluts
Most girls I meet (20s and 30s) are all obsessed with international travel, they bitch and moan how men aren't cultured and don't understand the world. These girls talk about how shitty our culture is in America, how we have no history, borderline self hate and then they go to full moon parties in Thailand or eat at McDonalds in Hong Kong (that's culture LMFAO). Am I missing something here? It's like a new form of pretentiousness I can't really describe.
Edit: is a wanderlust girl n-count = 100 ?
Edit2: they travel around the world to hang out with other westerners, drink, fuck, and do the exact same thing we do here and bragging about how "cultured" their experience was and how enriching travel can be
boy_named_su 5y ago
Foreign dick that doesn't "count" and Instagram attention. And why bother saving up money when Billy Beta gonna pay those student loans
red_matrix 5y ago
I've always thought when a girl says she's 'well travelled' it means they "fucked their way across Europe".
redpilledjoe 5y ago
If a girl ever goes to Europe on some "spontaneous adventure" blah blah blah she minimum sucked and fucked 5 guys.

Travelling is just boosting your social interactions. Id love to go to south america and meet people.
You do the same, with different people in a different setting. Why not exploit the wanderlust of them? In one week argentina id kissed more beautiful girls in a whole year in europe...
MRPFuckMe1 5y ago
Traveling is a socially acceptable substitute for a purpose in life.
CalvinRichland 5y ago
RED FLAG. People obsessed with travel generally but not always have nothing going on in their pathetic life. Often fucked every foreign guy they met.
The funniest part is when they try to impress me with it and then turns out they know nothing about the country because fucking your way through europe and riding a train actually doesn't teach you much.
zarathustrahhh 5y ago
There's the ones who want genuine world experience. One of my former plates traveled through South America with a couple of friends, found little unknown towns and spent time in them. She saw some really interesting things and showed me photos only after I got to know her. Before that, I would have had no idea as she isn't on IG or Facebook.
Then there's tinder where I got really fucking tired of seeing this shit:
CH->JP->US->CA->FR->BR->WHO GIVES A FUCK
Wow! A picture of Times Square! So unique and special!
I think these are the girls who have never picked up a book combined with out of control #FOMO and dump their money (or mommy and daddy's money) into shit they think will make them interesting. When really I'd much rather have a girl whose skin isn't sunburned to shit or knees that are permanently scarred from giving yet another Luiz the poolboy blowjobs on an oh-so-generic trip to Brazil.
fuckinboxershortsman 5y ago
I'd say this is the best answer in the thread. There are plenty of women that want to do it for the social media and sex, but there are also plenty that do relief work or go to nowhere towns. Traveling for the right reasons can be a humbling experience and a reminder that the world doesn't revolve around you. Or it can be an excuse to party bunch and be basic.
omega_dawg93 5y ago
my ex and all of her VERY overweight friends actually traveled a LOT just to sight-see, take pix, and EAT, EAT, EAT.
they had a list of places they wanted to visit on EVERY trip, and EVERY place had the #1 restaurant to dine at while there. and they hit them all.
Mr-Ed209 5y ago
It's actually quite an interesting question which I've put quite a bit of thought in over the years. As someone who's travelled for around 4 years and managed back packers accommodation in a popular travel/adventure town, as well fucked a fair share of wanderlusters. It's mostly about shopping for guys, hopefully finding a foreign man from a country/culture which they've pedastalled as culturally superior to their own; as well as appearing to have a hobby/interest out of normal chick shit (Netflix, wine, pizza). Some women do go all out and sleep with a LOT of guys away from home. And for others (while still obviously sleeping with the occasional dude here and there) just the thrill of being in a hostel and around so many 'prospects' is exciting (it's the same for guys tbh) and something that is quite far removed from conventional home life.
It's also weirdly become a status thing for girls nowadays as well. For the typical middle class girl with nice teeth, it's almost a right of passage to go backpacking on fathers money after finishing her degree. The advent of Instagram and 'travel bloggers' has just made bored suburban girls all the more desperate to go out there and develop their own identity as 'world traveller'.
It exists because it's something that is easy to do (anyone can book a flight) and theres a big market catering to it. Also women seem to get 'credit' for what is basically going on a vacation. As if they're some sort of shit Lara Croft posing by a Thai temple which was all arranged for by their hostel tour operator.

It's social status. Even she's not broadcasting on social media, she still gets to brag to her girlfriends, sisters, mother, etc. Especially if she has a BB to foot the bill.
My ex wife who was barely on social media only shared pics of us traveling.
As we were getting into heated arguments over finances -- the main reason we split -- frantically she once brought up, "What about travel?!"
I shot back at her, "WTF does traveling have to do with saving our marriage?!"
With that question, I sealed my own fate... or rather, my own freedom.
AFBB, fellas.
red_matrix 5y ago
Wait - was your ex's main concern she couldn't travel if you split up?
Tiway22 5y ago
Why did you split? Why would you think not traveling would save your marriage?
UEMcGill 5y ago
It wasn't about travel, it was getting him to get back in line. She saw control slipping away.

They are always in that fog/fairy-tale/fantasy world. It's pretty much like their default behavior. What does every girl want to be? A princess. Some girls never grow out of that, but instead what they do is expand it in different ways. Instead of being an actual princess (some logic kicks in, they know it isn't actually possible) it morphs into being superior over other people aka "being cultured" "being worldly" "being high-class", all like the princesses world be like. That princess-complex is everywhere in the way they dress like to what they eat to the way they speak. That need to feel ABOVE and SUPERIOR (cultured/worldly/high-class) all is an extension of that princess-complex.
flee_market 5y ago
Externally, anyway - behind closed doors whichever Chad and his friends are gagging her on their cocks.
TRPKiddo 5y ago
People like to feel like they’re a part of something. These women realize they don’t have shit going for them so they try to act like they’re cultured.
rebuildingMyself 5y ago
Women never cared about their host country's culture. They don't preserve it, they don't foster it, they happily fuck barbarians that invade their lands, and they only promote what's good for Team Woman, not Team Society
Chit-Chad 5y ago
Attention, whatever is cool on Instagram is fuel for the hamster. Those that actually travel don't really brag about it, you won't even know they disappeared for a week.
resnine 5y ago
Insta-fuel*
Instagram is basically like fairy-tale land for women, they can create their own little world on there. I think of it as an extension of the princess-complex. Being worldly/cultured/high-class is just like how the princesses world would be. It's a way to garner attention/validation and appearing ABOVE and SUPERIOR to common-folk(the thing they despise).
PrimordialXY 5y ago
Nah - it's not always for attention either. I'm a photographer and my girl and I travel to a series of countries every few months. If we didn't constantly brag about traveling then resorts and hotels wouldn't offer us luxury accomodation in exchange for exposure. I totally get what you're saying though
Chit-Chad 5y ago
You're definitely an exception to the case, I was mostly talking about your general population. Goals af tho
TheLongerCon 5y ago
Says who? Honestly the autism on this sub sometimes blows my mind.
"If you post pictures of your vacation to Europe you're just a poser" is some of the most childish borderline hipster shit I've heard on here yet.
There is no thing as "actually traveling". People travel for all kinds of reason, weather, cuisine, architecture, language, to meet up with friends, to meet new people, appreciation of history, etc. They're all valid.
You act like these girls are getting off the plane, taking a selfie at Eiffel tower, and spending the rest of vacation in their hotel room checking their instagram likes.
There's nothing wrong with letting people know you're having a good time, there's nothing wrong with taking pictures to remember a well earned vacation. And yes, traveling is a status symbol, everybody likes to float their status a little bit, nothing wrong with that. Maybe if more people on this sub did it they wouldn't constantly be complaining about how "tinder is shit".
TurgidMeatWand 5y ago
You left out the part where Instagram is basically like a lower effort YouTube and Twitch in a certain way, and a lot of these girls and guys are hoping to bumblefuck thier way into winning the Instagram lottery and achieve influencer status.
TheLongerCon 5y ago
Most girls who travel are not trying to bumblefuck their way to influencer status, anyone with any experience traveling would know this.
red_matrix 5y ago
One thing I've noticed when traveling is how time and effort women take in getting the perfect photo (for Facebook?). That and the selfie stick epidemic.
TryhardPantiesON 5y ago
I always believed, if you are traveling so you can take the perfect picture for social network sites, then you are traveling for the wrong reasons. It's ok to take pictures. They are memories, but you put too much effort in the picture that you fail to appreciate in a more profound level your surroundings, culture, food, music, etc.
It's just like when people go to concerts, only to pull their phones out and start recording, just enjoy the damn spectacle.
resnine 5y ago
They are creating that perfect picture to create fantasy-land on insta, snap, twitter. They love it when they can both garner attention/validation as well as making everyone envious/jealous. To feel above and superior is a driving force for a lot of the insta girls.
longjeep2005 5y ago
The fantasy-land looks ridiculous when travelling when you see these girls taking hours posing for photos instead of exploring and learning about new places
resnine 5y ago
When you are actually going with them on these trips and experiencing all the "SHIT" in between then you realize how they are just trying to create a false version of reality on their insta-accounts. It's downright disgusting and misleading.
Chit-Chad 5y ago
Yup, from what I've read on TRP, girls love anything that'll make them look cool and edgy. Which is why tinder/bumble are full of bios of women who "love to travel". Plus, dem sweet sweet Instagram likes
resnine 5y ago
Not only that, it creates a measure for the guy to have to live up to. If her lifestyle is going to parties at mansions and going to exotic locations in we cannot even pronounce, they it creates a standard for men to date her. It's all pre-planned. They know the psychology behind it. It's a culling process, they know a lot of dudes cannot keep up with that lifestyle so the high-maintenance type is just using that as a culling process much like guys here cull girls with the "fuck yes fuck no" process. Guys want the sex, women want to lifestyle.
PR0JECT_XIII 5y ago
"Love to travel" but 9 out of 10 have never travelled.
red_matrix 5y ago
I think most Tinder profiles are set up for getting Instagram followers.
htowntrav 5y ago
Definitely self promoting and to gain Snapchat and instagram orbiters. The more eyes equals more validation right?
Chit-Chad 5y ago
Perfectly summed up, as we know validation is currency and social media gives you that for free. A whole lot of it - validation without effort. It's like if a man got sex by just giving out his snapchat or insta, why even actually bother pursuing women if that were the case.
earthmother92 5y ago
She just wants the D. They all want the D.
poochman 5y ago
Who gives a shit what they talk about. Don't take what women say seriously, just as wouldn't take what a 12 year old says seriously.
boom_bostic 5y ago
It’s all to do with social media. Majority of these chicks wouldn’t even be able to enjoy themselves because they would be too concerned with the best type of filter to use for a selfie. It’s like whenever you hear about someone falling off a cliff to their death...all because they were busy taking a sweet angled selfie.

I would and do when I can. It's the complaining women do about how much our culture sucks, then they travel to the other side of the world and do the exact same shit that we do here (think McDs in HK).
buddahbusted 5y ago
They have noticed something, and that is that yes Virginia, American culture does suck. Not what a nationalist likes to hear, but it’s the ugly truth. Any well traveled person realizes it. And yes some people who understand this are also part of the problem.
There are great people everywhere, but our cities are soul destroying places, old world cities are centers for the community.
American exceptionalism is dead. Brussels or Moscow, you worship one or the other now.
red_matrix 5y ago
The thing is - why have people all over the world bought into our culture? Europe and Asia are being 'Americanized', our music and media is all over the world. It's inescapable. Why?
bloocher 5y ago
Because money. I'm not able to find good statistics quickly, but US is the largest advertisement market, it's the place with the headquarters of most international corporations. And most of culture pushing happens through ads or marketable content, such as movies, music and TV. Thus the upcoming years we will see a lot more of Chinese culture.
Merwebb 5y ago
Is everywhere, you can't escape it, it's on tv, radio, movies, fashion, entertainment.
Corporations did and keep doing a good job expanding.
Ask yourself as an US person: what defines your culture??
buddahbusted 5y ago
I feel like a thesis needs to be written on this.
Consumerism is inexacable, but i think our culture is deeper than pop music. It’s calling the modernists the best architects of all time.
Unfortunately what was good about our culture is being eroded by foreign enemies.
There is nothing inherently “red pill” about a provincial American outlook. When a man travels, it brings new experiences, and different understandings of culture, globalism, and the differences between peoples.
People are becoming more and more like each other. America became more Russian, Russia became more American.
There are things to learn from other nations. A diplomat can be just as “alpha” as a marine. What is silly is how foreign diplomats have completely wiped the floor with the USA.
It is this culture of ignorance that is proud of anti-intellectualism that even instagirls will notice when they return home. Yes many of them got quite a sampling of foreign men in their travels. But foreign alphas are still alpha, and American men can compete with the best the world has to offer, but listen to feedback when people critique this country.
red_matrix 5y ago
Well said. And it's spreading and becoming more and more championed. Ironically, it's that very quality that's required to make it in this country. A bit of a paradox.
There's much more to our culture than meets the eye. It's sad we have thrown away the pillars of the west: starting with the Greeks and Romans. Heck, kids don't even learn civics anymore. Consumerism is leading down a dark path, I'm not sure where it leads but the nice thing is we can still find what we're looking for, but we have to be willing to buck the trends.
buddahbusted 5y ago
American society is sick and rotten. Liberal arts are what all men needed to be considered FREE men.
What’s been confused in this sub is that what is good for the top .001% isn’t good for the working man. I don’t begrudge the oligarchs for their class solidarity, if I was one I’d be no different. But as I wasn’t born into that class, There is nothing red pill about lowering other people’s taxes.
Part of the problem is that working class solidarity is broken by the matriarchy who push socialism for women. But a group of men who use their collective bargaining power to extract concessions from capital is the most masculine act in the world.
The minorities aren’t stealing your women, the oligarchs are the ones engineering your economic destruction.

Went on a date with a girl who only wanted to talk about how she loved going to Europe. When she asked and found out that I have never left the country it was like game over was written all over her face. No second date lol
bitterconsultant 5y ago
In my experience, their "travels" are so superficial and they never actually grow from it. It's all about getting more attention by being "cool" for them.
Call them Basic Travel Chicks ...
TheLongerCon 5y ago
1) Many parts of America do have shitty culture
2) If you had traveled much, you'd realize that there are young people in every country are cynical(sometimes justified, sometimes not) about their culture, that's part of youth.
What's wrong with this? Not everyone travels for cuisine, nor does every meal eaten in foreign country has to be native cuisine.
I sincerely hope this isn't a serious question.
Really? Did you follow them around the whole time they were on vacation to make sure that they didn't do anything they wouldn't do in America?
I find threads like this annoying. There's no real question("If a girls like to travel does that mean she's fucked 100 dudes" isn't a question), there's just venting, and venting post should be made to the main TRP subreddit.
askmrcia 5y ago
Most women who claim they like to travel do so for attention.
I've been on two study abroad trips with mixes of guys and girls.
You can tell which girls were there for the actual experiences and which ones were there to brag on social media.
The latter, after the first three days were all complaining about how they couldn't wait to get home. Complaints were "the food was nasty, too expensive, the locals are racists, too much walking, too much waiting for public transportation, poor cellphone service, the hotel showers were bad, the beds were uncomfortable, ect...."
After the first three days where they took all their pictures at landmarks and visited a few clubs, they were ready to go home.
My younger sister was like this when she went tu China. If you followed her on instagram and snapchat you think she loved every minute of china.
If you heard her talking about the trip in person, she hated every minute of it and spent most of the trip eating McDonald's and other chain restaurants.
bluechipmonk 5y ago

MentORPHEUS Senior Endorsed 5y ago
I think it's solipsism; they find themselves attracted to men who travel, so they think men will find their travels attractive in the same way.
In truth, it's a great slut-tell, especially when the woman's income clearly does not support her taste in travel.
[deleted] 5y ago
I always thought it was a humblebrag status thing, with the growing class divide recreational travel is reserved for the wealthy (or at least those who aren't stuck in a regular job).
Zanford 5y ago
Wanderlust is a slut tell and red flag, yes.
It's a combo of factors:
Sex on vacation "doesn't count" and is less likely to affect her reputation
'Grass is always greener on the other side' psychology, esp when she's surrounded by soyboys growing up.
US media and advertising, especially chick flicks and chick lit and the fashion industry, build up Western Europe (esp Rome, Paris, London) as fairy tale utopias of romance and culture full of wealthy, intelligent men and fine cuisine. (In reality the richest European countries are statistically about as poor as the poorest US states, and getting worse.)
US media does everything it can to shit on (white) American men - they are portrayed as either illiterate preps (South/Midwest), insufferably prickish twigs (Northeastern), or grungy vegan soyboy hippies (West Coat) and if they are muscular/alpha they are roid-rage rapists (frat bro or football player stereotype).
For men, traveling is a status signal (it signals wealth, leisure, ambition, curiosity, and possibly a high flying career and/or getting around sexually). Therefore, women want to meet men who travel. Also, b/c of gender projection, women think that if THEY travel, THEY will be more attractive to men.
red_matrix 5y ago
No one is around to know exactly how many guys she's fucked and how freely she gives it away. Go to the med, you'll see thousand of young American girls hanging out at cafes, thinking they are in a fairy tale, having locals show them around, living out their deepest erotic fantasies (two or three guys at once), there's no need for restraint, and no one will ever know. Spring break in Cancun is also another place to see women off the chain (not really wanderlust, but no one is around to damage her reputation).
Zanford 5y ago
Preach. All very true.
MRPFuckMe1 5y ago
“(In reality the richest European countries are statistically about as poor as the poorest US states, and getting worse.)”
Lol, what? Go hang out in Hamburg, Frankfurt, Copenhagen or Zurich and compare it to Jackson, Mississippi or Birmingham and get back to us. This sounds like some alt-right Alex Jones bullshit propaganda to me.

Seriously? Most of the answers are so blind... Most of you forget that traveling is actually very cool, and that foreign cultures are sometimes astonishing and always interesting.
TL;DR Besides all the "attention" they get for doing it, international travel is fun and therefore people, not only women, like it.
red_matrix 5y ago
My gripe was the bitching people do about our culture, then travel to the other side of the world and do the same shit we do here, get drunk, eat fast food, etc then act all pretentious about how great 'Europe' is because "they don't drive" or something to that effect.
topothebellcurve 5y ago

Travel junkies are a turn off for me. Even if it's a front. I'd like a destination vacation here and there if I could afford it, but it's not a big deal. I've never been to Europe, I'd like to go to Spain, but if I die having never done that, it wouldn't be a big deal (not just because I'm dead either).
Ricklogical 5y ago
They were sold this idea by the media. You don't need a man, you need to travel and raise a dog.
inb4 the next generation of women dies unmarried and childless because no one, not even soy boys are interested in putting up with the shit storm that they have swallowed.
It's about as basic as a bitch can get, yet they don't see it.
There are plenty of reasons for YOU as a man to travel, some of it is this culturing they are talking about. Most of it is the wisdom you will gain by getting out of your bubble. Too few men ACTUALLY cold approach women, too few men ACTUALLY go out to other cities alone and try to have a good time. Too few men are trapped in the 'someday' mentality never making the real gains they wish they were making for plenty of excuse supported reasons.
These women are actually on point, the value of the general male is dropping, most of us want something very simple at home. We want a job that pays enough for us to support a family, and a woman that isn't attracted to a huge amount of drama and fake robotic ideals shoved on her by the media.
It's difficult to find that too, we have plenty of low quality jobs that suck the life out of us, and the people in the quality positions know those positions are quality so they act right and retain those positions for the long term.
How many middle managers in the 30-40 year range do you know? Plenty, but that doesn't give any of the rest of us room to move up, no matter how hard you work, most companies just don't have the capacity to grow individuals.
There are plenty of them that do, but every company needs people in those bottom positions, many more of those than in management making it difficult for this population explosion to find meaning or value in the workforce.
The secret is simple: Invest your money early, as if you will be broke if you don't, because you will be. Don't buy dumb shit, don't buy expensive things, don't eat at expensive places, don't do any of that shit for years. Be broke, act poor as fuck and don't try to make slow strides towards having the home of the Jones's. Wait till you can flat out buy nice things, like a car, and a house, and a boat. Don't fuck with debt, leave your money in a high yield savings account and just keep depositing money in it.
Whatever you do, don't throw your hard earned money away. Most people suck at SAVING money vs EARNING money.
Compound interest. I have no solution to female problems, engage as many as possible, assume 99% are going to turn out shit, even the ones you hold for a few years.
bob13bob 5y ago
you can always tell financially literacy by this: high yield savings account = noob low cost index fund = knowledgeable.

Great post. The difference in traveling/partying for men is we don't get invited to crazy parties or clubs when we travel. We either have to host (not really possible when you travel) or try to get invited or buy your way in (kind of pointless). Our experience is vastly different: traveling as a guy is just harder, everything is.
TheLongerCon 5y ago
Dude have you actually ever travelled?
Traveling is the easiest time to get laid ever. Just go to a hostel with a good bar crawl + pipeline on tinder as a backup. When I land in cities, I have multiple locals who I've already been gaming for a week online who have plans to "show me around".
If you can't get laid traveling, you probably need to reevaluate your social skills.
red_matrix 5y ago
Living as a girl is completely than as a guy, especially when traveling. It's like living life on easy mode. But yeah, I love to travel when I can, and getting laid is hit or miss depending on where you are, but you're right.

Lmao I went to the full moon party on New Years expecting to fuck 3 broads in one night based on the hype that surrounded it. I'm glad I did it for a cool experience, and it was fun since I had a few friends, but was a sausage fest and I'd never do it again and not really recommend it. People getting into fights, pissing in the ocean, was trashy as hell.
Manilatimes 5y ago
This is very true.
trpppp123 5y ago
I traveled the world for the whole year last year and I saw some crazy shit. For me it was never about becoming more cultured though, but rather living it up while I'm young. I've got incredible stories to tell, I've done so much, seen what most people dream of, climbed active volcanoes in the middle of the night at 1am, trained with some of the craziest muay thai fighters in thailand, scuba dived with sharks, got into trouble with Thai police, fucked a bunch of different of women from different cultures in Europe. I would never give that year up for any amount of money.
Although, seeing as what women do when they travel, a lot of TRP concepts got ingrained so deep into me, I can't ever see myself getting married. But even worse are North American girls who are so damn entitled. I met tons of women, I'd say in the 100s (don't mean I fucked them) and I can count probably 2 or 3 that I'd consider were actually in it for a cultural experience and didn't want to party, and they weren't North American. The rest were definitely all travel sluts, pretending on Instagram how cultured they are meanwhile banging dudes left and right. The worst one I saw was where I was dancing at a club and I saw this one chick (fucking stunner) who literally made out 6 guys (that I counted) within the span of an hour. I even saw her being dragged away holding hands with some guy and stop when she saw another good looking dude, start making out with him while making the other guy wait still holding his hand. I remember when I was younger, this shit would blow my mind, but I've seen so much of it now it doesn't phase me much. I'm not complaining though, I had my fair share of fun. Bitches like dick just like we like pussy.
I came back and nothing has changed back home, everyone's doing the same thing, while I've got all these stories to tell. People ask me when I'm getting married and I lol at it now.
These wanderlust girls are extremely fun to hangout and talk with btw, but not worth anything more than FWB status.

At least now you know. Those wanderslut girls are all around you now back home, and you know how they truly act when no one is looking. It's a tough pill to swallow.

I actually miss travelling and shagging left and right now that I wrote that out lol... I barely go out at home because I'm so focused on career/fitness gains now.

Full moon party sounds dope

That's my point: talk about how great travel is and how much it 'cultures' and teaches you - by going to a beach full of westerners and getting wasted. Talk about hypocritical.
flee_market 5y ago
The only "culture" those girls are accumulating is antibiotic-resistant gonorrhea

Can confirm, went in November 2017. What a fucking experience that was. Fooling around from 6-7am. Madness.
Edit: 6pm - 7am

Just with random chicks?
ButMessiDeservedIt 5y ago
Yup. I went with a friend.
Obviously didn't get very "lucky" but yeah, Asian girls were pretty receptive while the Western girls..... Not at all haha.
I'm brown haha.

I'm full of wanderlust and think America has no culture and is booorriinnnggg. This isn't just a girl thing, I believe guys experience this as well. Women are just more prone to share the experience on social media. Some of them might be doing it for attention, and some really just like the adventure
red_matrix 5y ago
My point was they bitch about our culture then travel to Asia to hang out with westerners doing western things.

I love to travel. Most of these girls see friends traveling on social media and get jealous. They want to travel, but they want you to pay for it. Bottom line. Go travel and see the world. It is amazing.
red_matrix 5y ago
I agree, do it, but don't pay for anyone else.

First - I do think international travel can be a great thing. Until you've experienced life overseas enough to get an idea of what life there is truly like, you don't really truely appreciate your own native home land. You also don't truly have a good idea of the pro's and con's of both your own home land and other countries.
That said, a guided trip with a selfie stick doesn't count. Tourist treks and other trips that don't expose you to real life there, not gonna be nearly as enlightening as say a mission trip where you live, work, eat and play with the locals. My advice is to take everything young girls post on the internet about how wonderful their overseas time is with a grain of salt. If it's all selfies of great touristy times, they really aren't getting out of it what they could, and they are just trying to inflate how great their lives are while getting "you go girl"s from their enablers and orbiters. For someone that has caught on to their act, best reaction is no reaction at all. Just pass by, same as you would pass by something uninteresting while walking by on a sidewalk.

I never know how they afford it

During history it was usually women who would travel long distance to be in a court of a noble, meet suitors or join the household of her new husband or to a honeymoon.
On the other hand historically men would travel only when thing would turn very bad. There was no food so they had to search for it while hungry, there was a lack of resources so they had to go long distance to chop wood or mine raw materials, there was a war so they traveled with an army or navy while their wives were left unsupervised.
All of this would have left very different evolutionary meaning of traveling which for men meant high risk of death and for women high opportunity of pleasure.
Take a look at most of Spanish conquistadors/pirates, most of them died in shipwrecks, battles, shark attacks, getting lost in jungle... even the men who led and had the power to tell someone 'you go first'.

Some people just want to travel.
My boyfriend is going to school to work as a cargo pilot and I’ve expressed to him that I want to travel, as does he. My parents talked about travelling to thailand and told me stories about the monkeys there that would steal their snacks right out of their hands. I study biology and zoology, I would love to meet and study animals from around the globe.
Not really sure how people expressing the interest to travel affects you in any way. America is great, sure, but there is a whole world out there to see and experience. BF and I travelled to Alaska from our home state to work, because we want to experience the vast culture difference here. As well as the climate, the rainforest, the flora and the fauna.
Travelling is very fun and a great experience for everyone, not just women. I plan on road tripping throughout the 48 states at some point in the future, the ideal is with my future child(ren) and spouse because doing it on your own is not very fun. Why hate on people who want to see the planet they live on?

Did you read my post? I added an edit to make it more obvious what my gripe was. I have nothing against travel. This is just a trend I've noticed in recent years:

I don’t know a lot of people who travel to other places and involve themselves in that culture, especially when many of these places are modernized and the only real difference is language and maybe food. But everyone partakes in the food.
Most people just observe and take in what their eyes see. When I see asians travelling here to the US, they’re with other asians taking pics, they’re not throwing on cowboy hats and doing the clog dance with Jimmy Bob from the corner store.
