I have something I really want to improve myself on.
So basically I am 20 y/o, 5'8 and like 130 pounds (~60kg), so pretty short and skinny as fuck. Also people assume I look way younger than I am so this sucks as well, probably comes from low T, no idea.
What is the best way to gain weight asap? It is really hard for me to eat as much as possible because... I simply do not "enjoy" eating.
What should I eat? What should I avoid?
Also - I do not lift YET, I think I should gain some weight before I start lifting, is this correct?

Although you're getting plenty of good advice here, make sure you checkout /r/fitness too. Their wiki is extensive.

Test your T dude.
Also do use this calculator:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8EbfzFB0mBrMGJ6V2N5QWNfeTg/view
I'm a hardgainer like you. You have to use this calculator. The guys you will read about on the Internet or make friends with in the gym, they can eat like 3500 calories at 90kg and be gaining since it's already a surplus for them. But you and I, you'll soon notice why you've been skinny all your life, it's because your body uses almost twice as much food. For example my TDEE at 70kg is 3600 calories. I know people whose TDEE at 70kg is 2300 cals. You get the point.

Lift, start asap. Diet with high protein and a calorie surplus. Drink your calories if you don't like eating. Sleep a lot.
FieldLine 8y ago
If getting jacked was easy, everyone would be huge.
I don't understand the point of this post.
"Hey guys, I don't want to do the work, how do I get the results without actually putting in any effort?"
Yes, if you want to get fat. You're not going to build muscle if you're not lifting. So if you're gaining weight and not working out, you're getting fat.
Ramp_Up_Then_Dump 8y ago
Lift asap. Dont go too heavy at first. Squad is not very safe for uneducated. Dont use barbell(squad, deadlift, bench press) untill you learn the tecnique.
Eat as much as you can. 3000calories is enough. Take at least 60g protein a day. Dont eat much junk and sweet stuff. They are harmfull for blood vessels and cause diabetes.
Mini advice: 1 L milk have 600calorie, 30gr protein and vit D. But it may make kidney stones at long run.

GOMAD
Two_kids_in_a_coat 8y ago
Weight gainers. It’s like $50 on Amazon. Get the most calories you can.
mental_models 8y ago
NO. That is not correct.
You are too much of a beginner for me to give specific advice. You need to advance on the learning curve, and work very hard.
[deleted] 8y ago
Start lifting and I'd advice you to start learning cooking. Everything you cook yourself tastes better, plus you start learning what you like eating.
Eating a lot of food is something you have to train. If you don't gain weight -> eat more. It's that simple.
Ohboohoolittlegirl 8y ago
Year ago I had the same. I was 6,3 on 75kg.. I don't like eating in copious amounts and I do not like eating that much in general. I started working out and eating every 3 hours, but in modest portions.. Now a year later I am hungry all the time, just hit 87 kg and counting.. Find a way in which you either enjoy eating or which makes it bearable.. For me, the every 3 hours in modest portions worked like a charm.. Still gaining, got some nice definition and working on the cut now.. The good part is that your gains will be very visible and thus motivating.. Just keep at it. Also, I drank, used drugs, had 2 weeks break in between.. Whatever and still gaining.. Keep at it and find that rhythm for your meals

Just start lifting. You may not want or enjoy eating now (sedetary) but you will once your body starts demanding food.
Diet is your biggest hurdle. Using a creatine supplement along with working out will add a handful of pounds of water weight and make your muscles appear more full.
Check your T levels after a few months. You may be on the low side, but I'm willing to bet it's because your body isn't producing healthy levels due to being inactive. Squats will add the most mass along with T levels.
Iwannachokekatie 8y ago
Everyone always talks about exercise rairing T levels but I've never seen a conclusive study on longterm T levels and lifting.
And no, that short term spike following exercise doesn't count as that is a very short term increase.

Loool so which hormone tells the body to increase muscle mass?
Ramp_Up_Then_Dump 8y ago
Cellular adaptation. Muscle fiber protein's controlling region on dna allow more production.
Iwannachokekatie 8y ago
GH
writewhereileftoff 8y ago
GH enlarges every structure in the body, not just muscle
Iwannachokekatie 8y ago
So what? I was asking for studies that show lifting directly raises longterm T levels. How you got to your question from that is beyond me.

As you eat more, your stomach expands a slight bit and it becones easier to eat more than usual
meaningintragedy 8y ago
Eat and lift. But most importantly eat.
LateralThinker13 8y ago
Find foods you do enjoy. One good for muscle mass/weight gain is BACON. If you don't enjoy bacon... you're beyond hope. :P
Scheme00 8y ago
I was same height and weight as you. I had to take weight gainer at your age to grow while I lifted heavy 4-5x per week. I’m 37 now and still taking weight gainer to get the extra cals in my bulk stage
redpillbanana 8y ago
As you probably know, you're going to have to push yourself out of your comfort zone in order to make changes in your life.
It's generally easier to consume calories as liquids. Get a good blender and either get some good mass gainer or make your own. Peanut butter is an often-used staple for gain weight. Some people like GOMAD if you can tolerate that much milk.
Also start lifting right away. Lifting will activate protein synthesis and your body will start to prioritize building muscle.
mountainbiker178 8y ago
I'm hesitant to recommend GOMAD, because of the estrogen hormones in milk.
MagnumHippo 8y ago
Is there conclusive evidence to support that?
Does the type of milk make a difference or is it straight up damaging to your hormones?
mountainbiker178 8y ago
I can't give you a conclusive answer. It's hard to get a good answer because of the industry not wanting bad press.
In fact, all milk has estrogen in it. Whether those levels are enough to significantly impact men is unknown.
MagnumHippo 8y ago
Fair point.
Makes you wonder what grains they’re feeding chickens as well.
Could be straight up ground soy.
Ramp_Up_Then_Dump 8y ago
I read about gomad just 20 ago and acording to gomad, you gain weight is 1-2 months and stop milk. Then do classic gym bro diets to turn fat to muscle. So short term estrogen boost wont should not impact your body. But I should read forums for any man boobs caused by estrogen for better answer.

Report back if you find anything
Ramp_Up_Then_Dump 8y ago
Google: gomad estrogen and look at top reddtit page.
In comparison to the human daily production of steroid hormones the nutritional supply (about 10 μgd−1 progesterone, 0.05 μg d−1testosterone, 0.1 μg d−1 estrogens, 0.5 μg d−1DHEA) is insignificant.
This is from the article posted on that comment.

Just start lifting and EATING. im 23 90kg ectomorphic (tiny like you by default (no offence)). BUT YOU CAN CHANGE IT! We ectomorphics get SHREDDED BODY VERY EASILY!
So the sooner u start the better
U will look better than guys who are fat by default and cant keep shredded (No offence bros)
If you want guide. Then force yourself to eat more. Google "mass diet for 70kg" and stick to it. replace fancy rare products with common ones like buckweat, pasta, rice for carbs and meat/milk/eggs for protein. most ready diets scary beginners off because they contain a lot of fancy and expensive products and meals. so you just replace it.
As for training, train up to 40min 3-4 times per week. YOU CAN TRAIN AT HOME! google youtube videos for back, chest, legs, etc.
I train at home and gained 15kg this way.

"I think I should gain some weight before I start lifting" What the fuck is this shit??
Google stronglifts 5x5. Follow it religiously!
Join a gym with several squat racks and book a jacked personal trainer for two sessions to drill you in all the main compound lifts. I wasted years training arms and chest only in a shit gym.
Eat as much as you possibly can as often as possible. Make sure you get around 150grams of protein a day. This means eating a lot of meat, 2-3 scoops of whey protein and lots of full fat milk. Don't worry about what type of food you eat just go for quantity and lots of protein.
I was 130lbs at 5'10 age 25. Once I got my diet and training on point I peaked around 175. Here's what I eat in a typical day:
2 x toast with peanut butter 3 scoops whey protein 1 pint milk 2 x chicken breast 400g Pasta with feta cheese 500 grams Ribeye Steak 200 grams fries 50 grams broccoli
Your appetite will get bigger the more you eat so you can gradually ramp up the calories. If you like full fat milk then it's fucking easy. Just drink 2-3 litres of it a day.
Try to eat or have a shake/milk 4-6 times a day.
If you don't lift you will either stay skinny or become a lardass. Lifting heavy and regular will dramatically increase your appetite.

Or he could do 600 mg of tren, it doesn't have a hepatotoxic effect, is highly androgenic, and stimulates appetite and fat loss.

1g of protein per pound of lean body weight 10% calorie surplus And to learn the best science based exercises for building muscle in each muscle group go watch Jeff nippards videos on YouTube.
