Not that deep but just tried out a new recipe figured I’d share the sauce w y’all. gym bros… yer gonna wanna implement this if you aren’t already.
So tuna salad but w/ avocado instead of mayo. 1 can of tuna, 1 avocado, some red onion, some celery, n sum cilantro + seasoning to taste.
Make the avocado into some guac, add the onions/cilantro/celery, mix in the canned tuna. Boom. ~300 calories, ~30g protein, ~20g of good healthy fat n hella fiber. Shits fucking gasssss honestly my new fav meal prep.
Sidenote: I eat hella fucking seafood. Like 4oz wild caught shrimp + 4oz wildcaught salmon/Mahi Mahi. + now this wildcaught canned tuna. Swapped out regular albacore tuna w some shit called light/skipjack tuna bc supposedly lower mercury levels.
Concern is I eat this chit on a daily basis and I see hella sites that say you’ll get mercury poisoning. On the other hand, saw on like livestrong.com that it’s not really that deep; you’d have to eat like 10lb of albacore tuna to get enough mercury levels to be toxic or whatever. Anyone ever actually get mercury poisoning? Or is that just the government trying to make sure we stay fat n lazy lol

I used to diet canned tuna for a while everyday and there is nothing to worry about, you'll be fine

Ok that’s a relief haha my main concern was like some shit ab potential memory problems

I eat the solid white albacore in water. I know the tuna in olive oil or avocado oil is healthier, but to me it makes the tuna too greasy. The other stuff, like chunk light tuna, is just too mushy. I'll throw down on some sardines though, either in mustard or Louisiana hot sauce.

I get em in water too I don’t like hella oil tbh. But I foookin love guac and the tuna guac mix is actually pretty fucking fire ngl. Currently my fav meal in the meal prep lineup haha

Mercury poisoning is actually very fucking serious.
Make sure you stay within recommended levels.
Last I checked, the maximum advisable limit for mercury consumption per week is 0.46 µg
https://www.fda.gov/food/metals-and-your-food/technical-information-development-fdaepa-advice-about-eating-fish-those-who-might-become-or-are
You can fuck around with putting cheap gas in your car or fuck around using off-brand golf balls when everyone else is using Titleist or Dixon Fire.
DO NOT FUCK AROUND WITH YOUR HEALTH THOUGH.
The Mercury level in your diet is deadly fucking serious.

Might have to get a blood test or something

No haha, that is just a waste of money. Just read the wikipedia article -- if I recall correctly, there is a weird name like "Saturnism" for a disease categorized by too much mercury:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturnism
Fuck yeah, I was right, lol. As long as you don't have those symptoms, then you do not need to see a doctor about lead poisoning. From now on, just follow the FDA guidelines I gave you about how much mercury to consume per week, which I still feel like is 0.46 µg.
Of course, the less mercury you consume, the better. :)

You shouldn't eat Tuna more than like once or twice a week.
Eat the albacore tuna or skipjack, it's smaller sized for Tuna, and lower on food chain. Higher up on food chain, older the fish, higher the mercury.
so, like swordfish , blue fin tuna, they are some of the highest mercury
Most salmon is fine
Also got to worry about farm raised, farm raised has lots of carcinogens, so if farm raised, recommend like USA or Norway/canada based, not Asia or south america
Mercury poisoning builds up over time in your body, can have long lasting impact, tough to get rid of and once damage is done . . . .
myself, I purposely use a large variety in my diet, eat nothing or try , from China

I eat 4oz shrimp + 4oz salmon/Mahi Mahi daily and just added the fam tuna now too haha. I did read skipjack is lower merc; tbh lower than albacore even so I’ve been going for that. I only eat wild caught though; I’m good on fish that spent its whole life swimming around in its own poop lol

I live along the Columbia river so lots of fish. I was shocked when I saw the limits of how much you can eat for each type of fish. All the best fish is the highest in mercury and other heavy metals, PCBs.
