i always wondered that if one's main aim is not to to have kids or sex then why should 1 get into a relationship? what is something that a girlfriend can do that your best buddy cannot do or less suited for to do other than sex and having a family.

If you don't want sex or kids there isn't one.
Your one real obstacles is that your friends might want those things, get married, then the woman socially isolates them from everyone else including you so you end up without companionship.

And therein lies the rub. If all a woman can provide is sex and babies, then what good is she? If I share a house with a guy he's at least going to pay rent and the right guy will provide sex, friendship, mutual hobbies, self-reliance, etc. This is why women have traditionally managed the household. Women were essential in traditional farms. Men were too. Now we have suburbia and I can walk to 15 different restaurants, have food delivered, microwave food, or cook myself. I just throw my laundry in a machine and it comes out clean. Same with dishes.
