In this podcast you'll hear Reddit CEO Steve Huffman explain why he and Reddit engage in extensive censorship, but you'll also hear him attempt to pretend to explain that it's not "censorship," it's just doing what needs to be done to the bad people (as described by him, personally).
This is also why I believe you can't trust Reddit or other centralizing media corps that want to control what you say, think, believe, and do.
This is also why, if you post or comment regularly, you need a trp.red blog, or a blog on another platform. Reddit administrators have instructed search engines not to index The Red Pill. But to create an anti fragile network, The Red Pill needs to be distributed.

Conservatives, going on ~50 years of voluntary self-cucking ideology.

Immuchtooawesome 4y ago
Removing yourself from the situation does nothing except allow the problematic ideology to flourish. You give it more room to breathe and expand by removing yourself from the situation. It's a libertarian idea that doesn't hold weight against large systems of oppression.
Environmentalists have similar views of "checking out" of the system, which they often reference in the "treadmill of production." Going vegan and living the hippy life does nothing to stop the mass production of foods and goods that are exported out of the country.
Choosing to dissociate from problematic people, spaces, or ideas is what has cucked conservatism during the last ~50 years. Actual conservatism requires conserving whats good of the system as it is, not just running away.

Your "just don't use it" comment is a part of a specific ideology in and of itself. Libertarian focused conservatism, namely.
Your self-interest becomes part of a collective if you ever wish to have children or an LTR. At that point, your best interests are best served by being a part of something greater than yourself.
Your island might become an archipelago.
Most people don't. But the world is built upon them. Hence, this gender-specific subreddit focusing on gendered politics. Once you apply your dgaf attitude to politicking, you can make a serious difference outside of your own limited lifespan on earth.
Best wishes.

Most people view their kids as an extension of themselves. Others view their personal values the same way. Some in Religion, some in Race.
If you ever find something that you connect with on a deeper level, outside of your own bodily experience, it'll all click.
[deleted]
lala_xyyz 4y ago
there is nothing wrong with enlightened self-interest. the problem is that with that thinking you'll get fucked in modern society where group-level strategy is easily capable of coercing any other individual. you have to organize and be a part of something that best aligns with your ideological viewpoints, otherwise you're going to get crushed

It’s the idea that conservatives would rather lose and keep their principles than win. In the example above, he mentions that reddit is a private company and can ban free speech if they want. In general, this aligns with the conservative belief that government should leave business alone and not overreach when regulating it, but in this case it is obvious that the powerful leftist oligarchs who run big tech have conspired to use their control over the bulk of the market share of online speech to censor the opposition.
A rational person would re-evaluate his position in this extreme example, as it is obvious that we cannot allow a concentrated industry that controls access to the 21st century “town square” decide what speech is and isn’t acceptable, but the cuckservative just mumbles “private company” and moves on to the next issue. It’s much easier then thinking deeply about complex issues, and much much easier than starting a fight against the gatekeepers.
[deleted] 4y ago
With respect, this seems perfectly backwards. Conservatives are not on the rise. What we're seeing is not conservatism.

I’m not shaming you into anything. You commented on the post. I replied telling you why you’re wrong. No one is advocating anything right now. We’re just debating and describing reality. Why the fuck you even commenting if you are going to call a disagreement “shaming.”
I know red pill is all about individual interest, and I agree with that, but are you such a nihilistic and spineless little shit that you can really look tyranny in the face not even feel any anger?
If so then you’re not someone I want around, because there’s something wrong with you.
8380atgmaildotcom 4y ago
If you truly understood the business model of social media companies then you would know that you are not the consumer. You are a producer for the company which in turn uses uses your content, sharing of content, etc. to make profit through advertisers.
By contributing to reddit, making the company larger, and increasing their profit margins, you are doing what they want you to do.
If not-leftist views gave value/perceived value to the company then they wouldn't be quarantined.

Just ignore these trolls. I wonder how the mods miss these guys and give them numbers.

I clicked on the name....I don't know what a bot actually looks like, it's a new profile that doesn't really look like a bot. I reported it anyway, so it will not be able to post over at TRP.
It would be clever to tag handles in more innocuous subreddits, but we all know to keep our TRP handles separate.

American Government?: MUST OBEY THE CONSTITUTION NO MATTER WHAT. OUR RIGHTS ARE EVERYTHING!!!
American Company?: Oh, yeah they can censor whoever they want. Fuck the constitution. Fuck our rights.
I used to be like this until I reasoned that there really isn’t any reason the government shouldn’t be able to protect the people’s rights even when it involves a private company (it is an AMERICAN company after all). I mean they already do this in that a restaurant must serve people of any race, so it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility that they enforce other rights of the people as well.

They are a private corporation that is protected by law from what their users post. Once they start curating the content, they start losing these protections. They become a publisher, not a common carrier. They will eventually get their asses handed to them in court for this--my guess it will be because of some violent event from their pet ANTIFA lunatics.
This is the classic hubris that infested executives in the original dot.com bubble. A lot of those guys are convicted felons now.
[deleted] 4y ago
Yep. It's an interesting dynamic. I would guess that maybe 10% of internet users understand this, while the rest take content as news.

They need to get the fucking forums.red site up and working.
It's been locked to new users/submissions for at least 2 years now (although approved members still post occasionally)
You would think after being quarantined here on Reddit they would have opened it up and focused on driving traffic/content over there as our primary hub. But nope, that seems to have alluded them.
It's frustrating because when the ban hammer finally comes (and trust me, it will come) no-one will have done any form of contingency planning and the community will be scattered. Half the people on this subreddit probably don't know even about forums.red because no-ones ever bothered to drive traffic and content there.
trp.red is okay at best. The UI is just too cluttered and confusing to support any real discussion. Content isn't particularly easy to find, the abysmal commenting system isn't conducive to conversation and the site design is so poor it's an immediate turn off. We need better.

While dated, this has a lot of quality content for your downloading pleasure.
ThePriorityBike 4y ago
Being a site admin is much more challenging than you think. Building the programming and platform skills takes years and once you have them, you can easily make well into the six figures. We are all used to getting high-quality sites available for "free" (meaning we give up our data), but building and maintaining them is much harder than the average person thinks.
CryptoViceroy 4y ago
Oh yeah it certainly has it's challenges, I do it as a profession, so I'm fully aware of the challenges involved.
I also appreciate whoever runs the site operates it as a hobby rather than a full-time venture, so they don't have the time to work on it as much.
But it seems like it's just been left to rot.
Even if they just replaced it with a basic free PHPBB forum install, that would be 10 times better.
At least the community could post/discuss there and we could have our own platform (that's not controlled by Reddit) that we could drive traffic/content to as a primary hub.
Perhaps I should take the initiative and do exactly that, but my only concern is whether advertising a forum would fall afoul of the subreddit rules.

Guess what! GOOD NEWS!
For those following our PATREON you'll see how the new TRP.RED design stacks up. You'll also be happy to hear we're launching the new design very soon. We're currently in alpha testing and security auditing of the new codebase. We've also been hard at work establishing a robust infrastructure and relationship with some bigger data centers that will help us prevent censorship in the future, and help us scale as our demand grows.
Here are some screenshots:

New Tribe Feature
Permission System for Tribe Admin

New User Profiles
Our Forums.Red redesign is also in the works to match our TRP.RED redesign. However, it should be noted the reason we're slow on forums.red is that we do not intend on opening the forums for public use unless absolutely necessary. Right now it serves as a backup for reddit. We do not wish to split the community.
Like how it's going? Join the PATREON to help out!
cupshadow 4y ago
Can you elaborate on the Tribe feature?
redpillschool Admin 4y ago
Sure can!
Our TRP.RED network was set up very much like a facebook / twitter type site. You can "follow" certain people which customizes your home feed.
Tribes are a twist on that.
One of the biggest issues facing men today is the inability for men to be able to band together to create their own power structures, operate as economic units, or,simply have a place to hang out and chat without the language police coming in. Any way you look at it, there's no safe place for men to communicate. Even private facebook groups are monitored for wrongthink.
So the Tribes feature is our multi-prong solution to this problem.
Tribes lets you create private (or public) discussion groups for any topic or any purpose. If you want to organize meetups or discuss business ideas privately with your friends you can do that. If you want to start a public group dedicated to lean gains, you can do that.
This also solves the issue of the "topic problem" which made trp.red's home page strictly TRP related content. Now we have a TRP tribe, but we can have other tribes as well.
There is also the option of starting a Tribe as a branding broadcast platform. You can open a public facing tribe but only approved submitters are allowed to contribute (you can elect for subscribers to be able to reply to new posts or not as well). This is a good way to have a meeting place for your brand that's more organized than, say, twitter. And more anonymous and less SJW than facebook.
Our eventual goal is to create a network of platforms that allows men to freely communicate, collaborate, and discuss without the social justice police trying to crack down on all male-centric communication.
cupshadow 4y ago
This sounds like a good idea considering how many subgroups are formed into this community, with different approaches to politics, relationships, lifting and so on.
redpillschool Admin 4y ago
That's my thinking on it. I don't necessarily agree with everything different groups talk about (such as MGTOW) but they need a place to discuss what they want without the PC police showing up.
CryptoViceroy 4y ago
Glad to see this is being worked on, and I look forward to testing it out when it goes live.
redpillschool Admin 4y ago
We also have some other.. plans, but we can't announce them on reddit. Rest assured we know of the problems you highlight. We just needed to make sure we were not marching everybody onto a new platform with less stability / protection from the SJW crowd.
MattyAnon Admin 4y ago

Why do you say such hurtful things as 'censorship'
comrade..er.. friend? We are only using technological means of stopping the violent counter-revolutionary/criminal/rebel scum from spreading their hateful ideas! Nobody wants to censorRightHandWolf 4y ago
Sigh . . . I've read through the comments, and what discourages me the most isn't the admission of censorship and the justification thereof, but the defeatist mentality that is settling in like a burial shroud.
Martin Niemöller has been dead and gone for 35 years, but there is a quote attributed to him which will live on for centuries - although I suspect he would have rather been remembered not for the quote, but for taking action. These are some pretty haunting words of penance, spoken after it was too late to make a difference . . .
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out — because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me — and there was no one left to speak for me.
Pastor Martin Niemöller had served on a U-boat in World War I, and as a believer in the "stabbed in the back" theory in terms of Germany's defeat, he became very nationalistic during the days of the Weimar Republic, and was a devoted early supporter of the Nazi Party. He soon realized that Hitler was a truly deranged and genocidal nutcase, and started speaking out, which earned him a trip to Sachsenhausen and Dachau for 7 years, very narrowly escaping execution.

What anger is there in my comment? If anything, the tone of the comment is cautionary.
There are quite a few posts and comments lately that have touched on the idea that taking a chance on something and seeing where it might lead is far more preferable to just sitting around wondering about what might have been. I'm 52, going on 53, and I have my share of moments that I'm not proud of at all. But the memories that haunt me the most aren't the things I did, but all the forks in the road that I didn't take, for whatever reason.
Yes, on the surface, it doesn't seem like any one person can make a difference - but the point remains that each and every one of us can have a small effect, and the collective impact can be staggering. Look at some of these movie studios that are bleeding boatloads of money from trying force the narrative. Ghostbusters 2016 was a disaster, both critically and commercially, but the thing most people keep circling back to was the high-handedness and condescension by the studio, the director, and the marketing weasels. The same scenario played out a year later with the director of The Dark Tower deciding to pre-emptively accuse people of racism because of the casting of Idris Elba as Roland. There's another big stink brewing over Tim Miller's comments about the fanbase's reaction to the trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate.
Can one person make a difference in the modern world? Maybe give a rousing speech like Churchill's "Finest Hour" address to the House of Commons? I don't know. But I do know that the time for sitting on the fence is running out. Pretty soon, the ground will heave you off the fence, to one side or the other, and where you land will be where you'll have to stand. Some of us would rather make that decision for ourselves, instead of being a "victim of circumstance."

Doesn’t surprise me, this Reddit was quarantined under LITERALLY no due ground and to my knowledge, the mods still haven’t got any solid reason about why it was quarantined
ThePriorityBike 4y ago
It's quarantined because it's disagreeable to the feminists who run the site and hate men. Not confusing at all.
majani 4y ago
I would say the anger phase newbies to the Red Pill are very off putting even to experienced members of this community, but they are a necessary evil.
[deleted] 4y ago
Not disagreeing, but it's also deeper than that. Feminist capture of corporate interests. Then again, Get Woke, Go Broke. It's a fun game.

serious question, do you think reddit was asked by the likes of FBI to let it open so they can pool together and monitor those users?
Yozki 4y ago
It's been a staple of the left for a while. When you believe you're so right about something and the people who disagree are clearly evil it's easy to justify silencing them and shunning them, all the while feeling like people will clap at your heroic actions.
I used to be like that.

The internet is an ever expanding place. If enough people leave reddit for not seeing their point of view reflected in the content paid advertisers will follow those folks to the next stop.
_do_not_read_this_ 4y ago
Unfortunately there is no "next stop".
Libs have controlled the media, and thus the content being discussed online and on the airwaves, for a hundred years. It's like fascism 101, never let the other guy's ideas even be heard. While our side was out working and trying to be let alone, their side was in the schools indoctrinating the children, in the courts making rules as judges, and in politics making laws.

The very concept behind reddit encourages mindless group think.
When you make a comment and it gets downvoted, you lose karma. Without karma, you can't post.
So basically, you are FORCED to say things that the group agrees with.

from 13:10 to 14:10 he discusses free speech. He says that it's problematic for himself, a private company (reddit) or the government to decide what people can and can't say. What ideas survive and what ideas die.
He says that decision lies with the people.
Surely that's a well measured opinion...? It's certainly not oppressive.
He says the ideal situation is that the users of reddit debate and discuss ideas which naturally compete, develop and win/lose.
That sounds good to me.
The only issue is that what I see on reddit, the reason TRP is quarantined is some bulshy frumpy middle manager somewhere who is possessed by the ideology will have got her way (feminism/censorship etc). It doesn't come down from the very top. It's not a conspiracy against free speech by the people who have the most influence. It comes from incompetent and aggressive people given too much power on reddit to censor particular ideas, groups, and 'offensive' speech.
It's about normal everyday people who let these idiots get there way because it leads to a more peaceful life.
Nergaal 4y ago

I agree, I listened to most of it, except for the questions at the end and while the interviewer was a rabid leftist authoritarian who would strike down any thoughts she found distasteful, I think Huffman is really trying to preserve free speech on here as a matter of principle, even if he disagrees with it. I think as a subreddit, we would be wise to not waste our breath attacking the people who could help us survive on here, but focus on our mission. At the end of the day he is a man, and he is reasonable, and he even recognizes the differences between men and women and isn't an extreme ideologue, we could at least garner a level of respect from him rather than savagely attack him. There are plenty of other targets more deserving of criticism and ridicule.
Nergaal 4y ago
he seemed more reasonable than most, but then they quarantined TD with flimsy explanation. if nothing else, he is caving in to higher forces.
cupshadow 4y ago
He says it's problematic for a government and him to decide what people are allowed to say but he makes constant assumption on what is "bad", "good" and what "Reddit can and can't have".
