As I’m getting older, wiser and more experienced in this world, I’m constantly learning what works the best for me in the journey toward becoming the man I aspire to be.
I enjoy RedPill. I think the problems with a lot of guys behaviour, limited beliefs and simply illusions is bang on. You can’t begin to fix anything before you know what the problems are and this sub does a great job of recognizing those.

One thing in my personal journey I’ve realised lately is that this ‘Alpha/Beta’ terminology is useless. Most specifically ‘Alpha’.

I went through the initial year of the pill as I’m sure many have, really fixated on this idea of being ‘an Alpha’. Until recently. I said to myself ‘fuck it I’m not using that term anymore’. The results in the way I feel about myself and my level of groundedness has changed completely.

‘Alpha’, to me, is an animal thing. We see it everywhere in the animal kingdom. The alpha lion, ape, bear. The head of the pack, the hunter gather and great impregnator.

The only problem is, we’re not animals. I get the RedPill take. We’re looking at ourselves as animals and how we meet our wants and needs on an animal level. But animals are far more simple, primal and black and white than humans.

We are far more unique, layered, individual and live in far greater spectrum of grey area. We have a greater array of personalities, emotional make-ups, complex experiences. Some parts of us are strong and powerful whilst others are limited. In some areas and situations we will thrive, whilst in others we will fail, fall and need to learn. We’ll never become an all encompassing mythical Alpha Male

To make a list of behaviours and say ‘this is an Alpha male’ completely neglects all the complexities that make us unique and individually us.

For younger guys in their teens or early twenties I think the term and many descriptions can be benficial. It can give a goal, an outline and begin the right path. For older guys above 35 like myself, running around trying to be Alpha and RedPill, wondering if the behaviour is Alpha enough is, well, sad.

It can show an incredible amount of insecurity, lack of self awareness, self-knowledge, self assurance and confidence. If by then you haven’t faced challenges, overcome obstacles, have some awareness of what drives you and to what goals and don’t have any understanding of your uniqueness, then you’ve done something wrong.

So I’ve wiped that term from my vocabulary and it’s been freeing. I prefer ‘healthy, strong, confident, self assured, driven, self-reliant’. I prefer to strive to be the best version of myself. My absolute fullest potential. Me. Unique. I lead others. I work with people in their absolute rock bottoms. I work with people who feel broken and need someone who has been there and risen from impossible odds to be a role model. I work with gangsters, criminals, ‘bad boys’ and all the guys this sub obsesses about as the “alphas’. I’ve seen enough to know true Alpha doesn’t really exist. Humans do.

Does my own past, trials, accomplishments and position mean I get to jump up and down and AMOG everyone in a room? Fuck no. I’m just a motherfucker putting in the best I can to leave a mark.
So my vocab has changed. I’ve also lost the inner narractive of ‘is what I’m doing Alpha enough? Is this choice RedPill enough? Is this going to reach my highest SMV’? That bullshit screams insecurity and lack of identity.

I do what I do because it’s what I do best. I work in particular ways because it’s the best way I work. I pursue what I pursue because it’s what I’m passionate about, what I stand for, and utilizes my strengths in the best way possible. There is always someone who seems better. Someone who has more. Someone higher status. So who is the Alpha? Nobody.

Women don’t think in terms of ‘Alpha’. The don’t see that way. It’s a term from the animal world, and leaned on heavily by Rollo Tomassi in Rational Male. It’s limiting, superficial, and tries to oversimplify the complex. Of all Rollo wrote, I think bringing into the manosphere the term Alpha was dubious decision. It has a lot of young guys running around acting and talking like fuckwits. A pale imitation of what they aren’t.

Be you. Be the best of you. Don’t be what some other man said you need to become. What also seperates us from the animals is that we’re born to play many different positions. Doctors, lawyers, builders, athletes, business owners, architects, trainers, coaches, fireman, soldiers and on and on.

This obsession with Alpha can also lead to comparison. ‘Is what I do RedPill Rollo Alphaness enough’? ‘Is that guy with bigger muscles more Alpha Chad than me? Was her ex more Chad than I am’?

Women want strength. A guy who knows who HE is. Who’se desire to fulfill what he is is greater than her. Fuck, as I’ve seen GLO write, if sexual strategy is a big part of who you are then you’re doing something wrong.

Freeing myself from this illusionary chase has allowed me to remember who I am. Maybe the strength in that is I’m self referencing. I choose what I do and what I pursue. I choose the mark I want to leave on the world and people around me. I don’t ask others their opinion, I don’t seek permission.

There is something powerful when you put away the books, and sidebars and ‘roles’. When I sit in a space of no comparison. Not less than the next man. Not better than the other. Totally just present with my individuality and being able to say ‘this...this is pretty fucking good’. It’s not in my muscle mass, my clothes, hair or jawline. Any motherfucker can have those. What good is the outsides if the insides isn’t unique. To truly know oneself is the beauty.

Trying to become ‘Alpha’ is childish. When we become a man, we let go of childish things.

Best post I've read here in a long time.
I have just today written an article on this expanding on exactly your thoughts. Going into the "Red Pill" mindsets vs the "Post-Red Pill mindsets":
P.S.: "Beta" is the second in command and gets almost as much as sex as the "Alpha". That might tell you something about the level of sophistication of anyone who started using those designations.
INNASKILLZ2K18 7y ago
Good article.
It's interesting. Who knows what truly being 'Red Pill' means. I think it simply learning to think for yourself. To get a better understanding of what doesn't work and why.
What you become from that, is really up to the individual.
You have to remember and understand that a lot of the guys pushing extreme views, anger and seeing women as evil are probably guys not having a lot of success.
That's only some of the guys, though.
At it's heart, it's simply guys passing notes on different strategies, behaviours and results. Though that side of things has dropped a lot recently.
To me, it's simple. Women want and need strong men. They do need this from an evolutionary, and biological perspective. It's nature.
What that strength is and looks like for each man can be his own brand. Red Pill will discuss some common behaviours which may be successful.
As you actually become a strong men, though, how you exhibit this will be your own brand.
I do believe the more experience you have in life, more wisdom, more success, more self awareness the more individual and refined your show of strength will be.
lux_7 7y ago
Very good message. Yeah, it's difficult to pinpoint the movement. There are a few strands here and there that are definitely unhelpful, but there are also a lot of great contributors and many nuggets of wisdom here and there. And then, as you say, there are the few central tenets that one should always keep in mind
INNASKILLZ2K18 7y ago
Yeah, one of the main things is that you really can't move forward in any healthy way if you're hating women or paranoid/defending against what you think they'll do.
I think often men have low self esteem and insecurity. They take the fact that women want strong men, and because a part of them doesn't feel strong they are in fear of women 'branch swinging', and they also project their dissatisfaction with themselves onto women.
To these guys, much of red pill tactics will be a mask. A falsehood.
There are some excellent traits and massively helpful nuggets red pill pushes. Yes, the basic tenets.
But the beauty is realising you really need to just be strong. Work on yourself until you feel truly strong and confident. Enjoy the fact. Then enjoy that you can attract women.
Nobody wants a guy faking strength, who secretly comes to red pill to upvote the 'women hating' threads.

Good post. I upvoted because you gave us something to think about, albeit a popular subject. This subject has to come up continually because times change constantly and so does the many ways every culture interprets the nuances of the term "Alpha". It may mean the same thing in every species, but the behaviors which express it are not always the same.
INNASKILLZ2K18 7y ago
Good reply. This was a big part of what I am getting at.
SoulRedemption 7y ago
Alot of people tend to treat alpha and beta as black and white, absolute states. From where I stand, they are not. For me they are traits. Which means a so called "alpha" can have some beta traits, tendencies or mindsets.
It will change over time as a ratio. No matter how "alpha" you are, you aren't perfect.
One of the first steps is to internalize Red Pill. Alpha, beta, omega...whatever term you wanna slap on, its a state of being. Nothing wrong with using "animal" terms. Nothing wrong eith using matrix references. Just be aware od what you want to be, not someone else's image of what they want you to be.
[deleted] 7y ago
The irony is that after all the talks, liftliftlift and theory the men here in the end act exactly as women.
Because they keep comparing each other, to see who is more "alpha",which basically is extreme insecurity geared to assure themselves of their worth.
Which is what women do.
frykidse 7y ago
Alpha is a marketing symbol. Symbolism is extremely powerful. It hopefully markets the message to the young & lost that there is hope & promise for their own internal strength progress & growth.
That said, I agree that alpha is the wrong term. Leader should replace "alpha". Leadership gets the young men (target demo for trp as a sub) where they truly need to be.
INNASKILLZ2K18 7y ago
I agree. I know for myself labels, language, terminology is important. Something has changed for me since eliminating that word.
I also agree it is important for the youth. It gives a goal, an idea and a vision. I think the further along one goes toward that goal, the more unique layers and characteristics you can discover which go into who you are. Alpha no longer really nails it for me.

INNASKILLZ2K18 7y ago
Yes mate. Guys obsessed with labels, obsessed with perfecting sexual strategy, obsessed with women, following Alpha/Beta rules and other guys suggestions on what to do and be,obsessed with the perfect RedPill lines.
There is something in the evolution through all of this where I've accepted the majority of Guy's problems RedPill identifies are excellent.
Eventually the solutions become increasingly flawed, and can only serve the same insecurities, 'follow the crowd', 'label yourself', 'do it all for women's approval' problems we were trying to move away from in the first place.
You do have to wonder, though. A subreddit made my betas for betas is eventually going to need detaching from if you actually understand what a self driven self made, self referencing man is.
JamesSkepp Endorsed Contributor 7y ago
They do. For them it's the cute guy, it's the hot guy, it's the guy they are attracted to, the guy they sleep with, the guy that "doesn't count". It's just that the name is not codified as we have here.
Say you're writing a reply about this or that guy getting cheated on. You can write a 500 essay on what he's doing wrong or you can say to him that he's a beta and that needs to change, which takes one line.
We don't use alpha/beta as set in stone, exhaustive lists of traits or behaviours. We use it to make the communicating between us (posters on TRP) easy. I don't imagine you're going to rewrite Rational Male by replacing each "alpha" word with a list of what is attractive.
There's no obsession with "alpha" on TRP.
Doesn't really happen, if it does it's 1 per 1000 posts or comments along the lines of "yea a random girl in nightclub ditched me in favour of some bigger guy". That's it.
That's a great platitude, but do a thought experiment and imagine you and your gf get chatted up by a guy that is stronger mentally, physically, knows who he is better than you and one that has stronger desire to fulfill what he is than your gf OR YOU. She's knows that, she feels the gina tingles, she might not leave you, she might not cheat on you but the fact is her hypergamy already knows which one of you is a better option.
In this context, alpha is the man that's more likely to get sex from her, beta is the opposite.
Almost everyone here will tell you to put yourself and your mission first.
Yea that's gonna be verified very fast when someone like DiCaprio shows up at your table. And you're right, you might truly know yourself, but the net effect is you're the one truly knowing yourself and he's the one going home with 2 models that were sitting with you.
You're in a process. You're not "there" yet with what kind of women you would want to fuck or what kind of life you would like to lead. The anger and resentment towards players and people who are trying to "get there" is a part of the process. Resent what you can't have, hamster it as "i don't need it anyway". No, you don't need it, but you do want it - hence the resentment.
INNASKILLZ2K18 7y ago
Great reply. I'm not in resentment, though. I totally accept people are on their journey and at wherever they are at.
I understand guys using certain terms and language. It's all part of the journey of progression.
My post was more an expression of where I'm at. Some of the language was holding me back.
I do appreciate the reply. I like knowing I'm in a process. I can accept that. Life is continual learning.
Thanks
unnaturalcontrol 7y ago
Only point I disagree with. However, I think all of those who obsess over alpha are the new members and those who are young. Those who have been around a while and understand/have internalized the core principals of TRP no longer obsess over alpha.
Just take a look over at askTRP.... "Was this alpha?" "How do I handle this in an alpha way?" "Was this beta?" (again, all these coming from those new to the community/principals)
Otherwise, great reply

“Nobody can concretely say what exactly Alpha is they can only say what Alpha is not.”
I’ve thought about this so many times. I’ve even considered making a post. Even TRP more generally is more about what not to do and what to be careful for than what to do.
The part about perversion on the other hand is something I’ve never thought about. Many times you can’t try too hard to grasp at a thing, like alpha. It’s more about letting go of various things that makes you alpha.
Pussyshack 7y ago
This is complete bullshit.
We are animals. We have basic instincts. We act on them. Just because we don't live in huts anymore doesn't mean that instincts disappear.
deimprovement 7y ago
You hit the nail on the head
unnaturalcontrol 7y ago
I don't totally agree, but let's continue.
The thing is, we are animals. We are being run by our hind brain whether you like to think so or not. Some more so than others. Jonathon Haidt (author of The Righteous Mind) compares us to an elephant (emotional/hind/reptile brain) with a rider (rational/frontal cortex brain) on top. We like to think we are the rider, and the rider can push the elephant to travel in a certain direction. However, when it comes down to it, the elephant controls the show. (I think part of our job as MEN is to get the RIDER to control the show, not the elephant, but that doesn't stop the elephant from being there)
Disagree. Get a bunch of dogs, cats, rats, (just name an animal) and you'll notice a complexity to their behavior as well. Each has a different personality than the last. (I named all mammals because mammals brains are LITERALLY more developed than a lizard's brain. Not sure if lizards have different personalities or not.)
Agreed. And I think this is where naming it limits our understanding of it. A bunch of these kids hear "alpha" and think "I become an ass, do what I want, and then I become a chad and fuck all the bitchez." They fail to understand the wide ranging and deeper definition of the word.
There's also a lot of things that people associate with alpha, which doesn't help. In the Rational Male, Rollo talks about how you can ask the most beta cuck and he'll tell you he's an alpha Chad.
I understand this point but I don't totally agree. Perhaps poor phrasing here on your part. But literally watching your wife fuck some other dude doesn't seem alpha to me, even though it may make you "unique".
I think it is important to list some alpha male qualities (MpoO, Frame, Plates, No Oneitis) but to not ignore the grey area that can be within those points (texting her back or not).
I think perhaps it could be more beneficial to list beta traits (watching another man fuck your wife) than to list alpha traits.
Agree completely (depending on how long ago you found TRP). By 35 it should be innate and you shouldn't have to worry about it. You should know who you are, what you like, ect. If you're young, you need concrete examples (especially as males) on what you are striving for.
Still "alpha" traits, just without the title.
I agree for the most part. Just, again, I think there are some traits that can be assigned to "definitely beta" or "definitely alpha" but there is no "Chad Alpha God" that each redpiller needs to follow after. There is no "ONE" example for what a redpilled man looks/acts like.
Their "rider" doesn't but their "elephant" sure as hell does.
I've talked about that before but I agree. Giving it a name limits our full understanding of the topic. However, I don't know that he could have chose a better term. I've read all his books and I believe he mentioned something along those lines, that there needs to be a term to discuss the topic. It puts a "face to the name". By giving it a title, it makes the abstract more concrete and allows us to discuss the topic with more ease. Without a name, trying to discuss and theorize about intergender (hope that's the word I'm looking for) dynamics would be much harder if not damn near impossible.
Agreed. Become your own man and stop basing your life off the advice of an internet stranger.
Maybe on a spiritual level, but not on a biological one.
Agreed. By this point in your life, you should know who YOU as a person are. I see all the time in askTRP some kid taking the advice of some internet stranger instead of making a simple decision on their own. They are becoming the other person, not themselves.

If I didn't mention it, take it that I agree with your article. It was nice to read and inspired discussion (check for grammar and spelling next time please).
I agree with you halfway but I think there were some fundamental flaws with your argument, all of which I pointed out.
Good stuff though and thank you for the brain exercise
INNASKILLZ2K18 7y ago
No problem. Appreciate the detailed reply.
I like to basically just spill what is going on for me. Not get bogged down by overthinking.
I'm always well aware that ideas will be refined and even change at times. I like to remember 'don't get it right, get it real'.
For myself, I needed to get back to embracing my unique human stuff. I'm aware we are animals but I needed to break out of that and remember my individual traits.
I'm glad I am able to spark discussion. Thanks again.
Nicolas0631 7y ago
Even that. This is almost the typical behavior of a pimp. He may bang the girl when he want and submit her to bang other men so he could make money out of it. He is in total control of his girls. While morality level is low, it would be hard to see this behavior as beta.
Alpha in the end is not about what you are actually doing or not, it is more about why you do it and how other people perceive it.
unnaturalcontrol 7y ago
I would say it is more about mindset (MPoO, Frame, etc).
I had this conversation with someone in the BDSM community and the topic came over to this. I was talking about knowing how if you're a switch (goes between dom and sub). Just because you may like to be beaten or have fire play or wax play (or whatever else) done to you does not necessarily mean you are a switch. She told me a story about another person who was a dom but also a masochist so she would occasionally have someone beat her. But because it was in her frame, it did not make her a switch.
TL;DR : It boils down to having a good, rock solid frame.

lobstergenocide 7y ago
Except when it comes to mating we absolutely are animals and behave animalistically. It's great to be a civilized human being with a working brain but attraction works on a primal, animalistic level.
And you can take "alpha" out of your vocabulary all you want but that doesn't change the fact that it serves as a great shorthand for all the traits you listed. You're basically arguing semantics at this point. And for the record, never is it stated here by anyone with experience that you have to be "alpha" all the time - on the contrary, it's pretty accepted that that's impossible and that no one can be "on" 24/7.
As for the rest, yeah women may not consciously think of men in terms of "he's an alpha, that guy's a beta" - but that doesn't change the fact that they interpret who's a winner and who's a loser and choose their mates accordingly.
uptimex 7y ago
Alfa -ism is not about Machoism in this case but about Big Dick Energy more. Calm, confident, abundance mentality.
yamseveryday 7y ago
The irony is that alphas don’t run around going “is this alpha enough?”, they just do what they want. I’ve had a similar experience of comparing every action to an absolute alpha or being completely red pill or something. It’s stifling, especially once you’re past the phase of internalizing the core beliefs. Second guessing everything you do is an important step in the beginning, but then becomes quickly unproductive. If you believe every action will lead you on the right path, you are able to make decisions confidently and decisively and still get raw feedback that allows you to make adjustments.

The greatest tragedy of humans is our hubris. We delude ourselves into thinking we are so much better than animals, that we have ascended so far beyond them. But we still run on the same operating system. What you’ve found is self actualization. Alpha is useful as a crutch at the beginning of your red pill journey, much like a crude ore is the beginning of forging a sword. Once you walk the path and achieve success, you begin to chip away at that oversimplification and see the true objective you were aiming for the whole time. The ultimate definition of masculinity is becoming a self-actualized man that walks his own path alone, and is completely in control of who he lets join him on the path and who he does not. One who does not seek the validation of others but rather who validates himself.
usegao 7y ago
more like slightly better hardware, new operating system. but yeah, we are animals. not sure why so many people still think we are celestial beings from on high.
i am so tired of hearing people talk about food. animals eat food. i don't need food! i'm a human!!!
good luck with that
Plan_o-f_Will 7y ago
Really, really well put. This is the core message of TRP. There are thousands of masturbatory overly complex theory posts but when you've truly reached your goal you no longer need to worry about the labels or question your actions. You can just live unshakeable.
[deleted]
INNASKILLZ2K18 7y ago
Yes, I think you've nailed where I'm at. I don't think 'we're so much better' than animals. Just a lot more complex. People will say we're not and refer to all the ways in which we operate the same. That misses all the complexities we have.
It's amazing though. Watch all the guys kick up a fuss when you challenge the use of the term 'alpha'.
Thanks a lot for the reply. I do think I'm 'letting go' of some of the early stuff in order to find what I was always looking for.
Tousen71 7y ago
I agree with this graduation of maturity for the most part. However, it's important to recognize that this path to self-discovery and self-actualization is by its nature a journey. I'm 28, found RedPill two years ago after a particularly tough relationship loss, and have only really begun to internalize the concepts through fuck-ups and lessons over the last year or so. For young men that feel lost, unmotivated, passionless, ambiguous in their personal identity, suffer from low self-esteem and confidence, and are generally lacking a real path in life, Red Pill and the values of true masculinity that it represents can be a godsend.
In the beginning the rudimentary concepts such as "Alpha" and "SMV" are by their nature meant to shock a blue-pilled mindset and set up a hard system of basic tenets to live by. Remember, RP theory is meant to flip a conditioned mindset and transition it to one that's more healthy and pragmatic. RP theory can and DOES change personalities and beliefs, so identifying in the early stages with ideas of whether something is "red pill or not" is arguably the inner workings of a man struggling to internalize its foundational concepts. Once those are understood, they don't need to be spoken or rationalized, it becomes ingrained behavior.
I think you're on the right path and I believe you—like all of us—have benefitted from the direction and momentum Red Pill theory has given us to become more actualized, focused, and purposeful versions of ourselves. I hope we all get to the point you're at, and I know with continued progression we'll get there soon enough.
INNASKILLZ2K18 7y ago
Great reply. Appreciate it.
You've pretty much summed it up.
Yes, it has helped immensely. I guess where I am at is a further part of the progression.
I agree it is great for guys starting out or suffering in ways you mentioned. At some point you move away from the theory. You've read pretty much all there is, rediscovered your unique build of masculinity and take the training wheels off.
To get to a point that you no longer aim for the labels. There is a deep trust of oneself. I didn't feel bad rejecting some of the labels. It was a moment of 'Ah, this is what RedPill has been pushing me towards all along'.
The true power comes when you can say 'I've got this, time to truly run the ship'.

I think his post is spot on, chasing the status of an arbitrary definition is silly, and in my mind blue pill as fuck. I’d much rather see the young guys focus on themselves. I took alpha to an extreme and it wasn’t beneficial... as I’ve grown older I’ve just started doing my thing, I know what I want and I go after it, fuck all who gives a damn. I’ve found I enjoyed the chase more so than the actual fucking, each female is different and I’ve been different in every relationship. The core tenants of the red pill are true, IE don’t catch onitis, don’t blow your money, and there is no one. Fuck the rest and do your thing, I’ve had fun playing the boyfriend and I’ve had fun being a ons, either way I’m doing what I want for my own entertainment.

I was in this paradigm to for a while untell I realized that you won't hit any fucking emotions acting like this. I got really good at eye contact though and got attraction just from that alone, but that shit is super boring practicing day in and day out. I just recently broke through my emotional blockages and now I can express myself in front of anyone. It's all about your emotions and how you are making the girl feel around you. Yes, ALPHA eye contact does matter to some extent but if you have no emotions behind your gaze then your just staring her down.
I watched a good movie a while back called The Wolf Of Wall Street and I learned how to talk like that guy which takes some practice. The reason why he gets all of his sales is that he is being congruent with his body language and character. Once you realize this concept the term alpha will no longer apply to you. I attract girls all the time cause I know how to speak with emotions. I can say Hi, how are you and access emotion. It's all in your body language. This is also called charisma.
NegativeMeeting8 7y ago
Do whatever works for you. However humans definitely are animals. Your assumption that other animal are "simpler" is wrong. They aslo have very complex and multilayered patterns of behavior. You right in a sense that one word can't describe complex reality completely. But that is true for any single word. That doesn't mean the word by itself is not useful. This is the power of abstraction. We as humans can see through the reality and see patterns and we can name it. You can like it or not, but if you observe two dudes for 5 minutes, you would definitely see who would have a better chance to get laid. Than you can take away that part that make a guy more successful and call it alpha behavior. Then we can abstract set of such behaviors and call it alpha. I don't see how your argument can handle this.
usury-name 7y ago
Humans have FAR more intra-species variation due to the size of our brains. Other animals operate primarily through pattern behavior.

You shame men who do. "Trying to become ‘Alpha’ is childish. When we become a man, we let go of childish things." This is a lot like when wimminz say what a REAL MAN does.
You even justify your feelings by wrapping them up in female thinking: "Women don’t think in terms of ‘Alpha’. The don’t see that way."
Sure, they don't say or think "He's an ALPHA!" But they do think "He's a MAN!" Either way it's an animalistic response because we are just animals, no matter how complex we become.
Robster25 7y ago
I think that's one way you can see it, but IMO OP meant that if you reach a certain stage there is no need to refer to alpha/beta anymore, because you are just doing your own thing. As OP states the terms alpha/beta are mostly thrown around by guys who are new to the red pill and beta. No alpha or person in general for that matter who would like to be taken seriously runs around and tell people how alpha he is.
[deleted] 7y ago
This comment is cringe.
You don’t “try to become Alpha.” Thinking this way is actually quite Beta.
Alpha is. Alpha does. Simple as that. A Beta will obsess over what’s Alpha and what’s not. Alpha simply acts.
Alpha is not always synonymous with virtuous. An alpha doesn’t overthink or overrationalize or overcontemplate until his mind becomes a prison/quicksand.
LandoChronus 7y ago
If that's true, then noone not born an Alpha can be one. We're all wasting our time here, learning things to change who we are into something we can never be.
Maybe you mean that doing something while thinking "I'm being an Alpha!" is incorrect, in which I agree. But to simply say "trying to become an alpha is for little kids" is ridiculous.

I beleieve rollo and others kick the alpha stuff to mean that individual in that setting who seems to be most fit given the conditions. See as a man I have seen myself be him and have been in situations where I won't . Thats life. The concept is an aggregation of this qualities whether human or animals someone for some reasons would stand out. And all the hard coded reactions male female to this in the form of sexual strategy or general living are also true.
My gripe is with those young or even older heads who feel wronged and exhilirated when they discover this self evident truths . instead of applying this facts to life in making themselves better and letting the corrollaries come to them they take the other way and see the effects as the end .
CorruptedKnight0 7y ago
Yes, instead of chasing a set of rules and frames, find yourself.
Nothing beats having self concisousness and come up with a set of rules of your own and know that it's okay to be different.
Alpha is something that one need to internalize and not shout it as a slogan or some sort. Same goes to red pill.
I'm sick of seeing people saying you have to do this else you're BP-ed, that's the most BP thing ever.
INNASKILLZ2K18 7y ago
A lot of this sub tell guys how to act, and in what particular ways. 'Act' like a man of value. It doesn't provide much to actually help guys find their individual value.
The sub has become largely a guide on how to imitate.
RevolutionaryPea7 7y ago
TRP was never about "being alpha", though. That's just what you decided to do. TRP is just knowledge.
One thing I've noticed lately is that being alpha is much less about how a man treats women and more about how he treats other men. An alpha has beta male followers. When women see how an alpha commands the respect of other men they fall right into place.
_A_L_3_X_ 7y ago
I wouldn't say animals are far more simple, we just see/portray them as that, just as we simplify everything.

Hahahahaha
We are all magicians, and words are our spells.
Your refusing of the "alpha" and "beta" words is, in some way, a grow beyond those tags, and a internal sign of freedom.
An alpha attitude, if you where to apply the tags you just refused.
To me, alpha and beta are attitudes, and a person can simultaneously be alpha (self-determined and confident) in a facet of his life while being beta (unsure, follower, validation-seeking) in other. The terms are heavily debated here in TRP, and because everyone understands them differently they are a source of confusion. Your idea of alpha is different than the understanding of the next guy.

We are animals and mostly behave based on animal instincts
INNASKILLZ2K18 7y ago
We are also far more evolved, complex and individual than other animals.
Yes we are animals, but far above the rest of the animal world.
Elliquin 7y ago
You clearly don't know what you're talking about.
All creatures on this planet are just as evolved as each other, none of them is "ahead"
Read some biology books.
I recommend Frans de Vaal and Richard Dawkins for a start.
JamesSkepp Endorsed Contributor 7y ago
Hardly. Each animal evolves to compete best in it's environment and it's role in it. You are much more evolved than a wolf is, but you don't see humans chsing wolves barehanded.
Nicolas0631 7y ago
To be honest, 1 on 1, a trained human bare handed vs a wolf, I am sure the human win.
I have been in tanzania. Until not long ago, to be a man, a masai had to kill a lion by themselve. Granded they had a spear but a lion is more like 200kg. A wolf is 30-80kg. And actually wolfs go in pack., a single wolf isn't that much.
What more just look how some monkey behave. Even lions fear them. If you attack one, the whole herd, hundred of them will go back to kill the culprit and his whole family. This what we do as human too. And this is why in the end almost no animal dare to attack us. They know even if they win a battle they loose the war.
The thing is sheeps & cows and alike could do it just like that. There no way predators that are by definition far less than the prey could survive if their prey just had its things together. This isn't even about tools. This is about willpower.
And it isn't just a human thing. Some monkey have it. Bees do have it as well as almost all mamal that will never give up if you go against their babies. Some predators going in pack are like that too.
JamesSkepp Endorsed Contributor 7y ago
Do an experiment, go to the nearest dog shelter, find the heaviest dog that's closest to your weight, get into his cage and try to fuck him up.
When you're done, come back here, write a FR about willpower.
Nicolas0631 7y ago
Wanting to kill it: A human would just apease the dog, get his trust and then will strangle it. Or get get any rock or piece of wood and destroy his skull.
Wanting to fuck it: A human would first etablish his dominence then would be able to do whatever. Remember such dogs are our slave as well as horses and many other domesticated animals.
And any modern man would just need to drug the dog first.
The issue is almost never the physical strength. A cow can easily kill with bruteforce. Even a motivated sheep could get its way arround a wolf. Predator use their strength AND intelligence. They do plot.
If I was to fuck an heavy dog I would first incapacitate him or make it my slave, then proceed.
Exactly the same even a lion know how to use his jaws and how to kill without being caught and use strategy to put the prey in a situation that would play in his favor. Pure brute force without subtlely is sure way to get killed or at least injured and in the wild, this is about the same.
Only the most stupid talk about a fair fight. You fight when you are sure to win or when you have no choice.
JamesSkepp Endorsed Contributor 7y ago
I think you need to google the difference between "fucking someone" and "fucking someone up". That being said, any modern human would apply it's intelligence and drug the dog then kill him, sure.
You are moving the goalpost in your examples, I can do too: suppose it's a genetically modified drug resistant dog that shoots lasers from eyes. Are you now going to make an argument that any modern human being would use ablative heat shield when approaching the dog?
Elliquin 7y ago
Again, nothing is “more evolved” than anything else

Take some shrooms and listen to Bob Marley 'Judge Not' and you'll be all the alpha you need. It's all about accepting the universe as it is and being comfortable in your own skin, know your worth. Kill that ego and stop judging others, strive for understanding. Boom
Gackt 7y ago
Woah dude this is exactly some of the changes I'm going through right now. (Coming from a social anxiety background).
I introspect a lot and have been coming to this very understanding of interactions with people/women. You could say I'm developing my own variant of the red pill or something.

Completely agreed. It's gradualism and refinement. Got to know the fundamentals before you can improvise.
KeffirLime 7y ago
The problem is less with the term alpha and more with the fact that you've interpreted it as meaning the archetypal alpha male instead of rather as simply a descriptor of behaviors that drive attraction, which would be more appropriate.
No one human-being is bound to the terms alpha or beta male, they're just humans who display either alpha or beta characteristics. Someone can display a multitude of alpha characteristics one day, those that drive female attraction and then that same guy can display a whole bunch of beta behaviors the next day.
The focus should never be whether he's alpha or beta but rather on the behaviors themselves and whether they're functionally effective or not. In that regard understanding "alpha" is simply understand attraction drivers. You can then choose to use them or not.
Cods_gift_to_reddit 7y ago
This is a great response worthy of a post all to itself.

Would certainly be higher quality than this one.
Tousen71 7y ago
I agree with this distinction.
EdmondDaunts 7y ago
I don’t think in these terms literally either because you quickly realise that there’s always someone “better” than you. And that’s your own fault for keeping on using a competitive metric. We all do it it’s human nature. Like you said you need to get past it.
The biggest lesson TRP has given me is reflected in other things in my life: learn how to recognise and make good investments.
Make sure your effort is profitable. It’s not always a linear path.
INNASKILLZ2K18 7y ago
That's what I thought. I'm needlessly comparing myself.
It was freeing to realise I'll never be the Alpha, not do I have to. Many guys will say 'oh, oh, but that's an Alpha mindset'. Bullshit. It's just a dude with self awareness around his most self empowering way to view himself in the world.
Sumsar01 7y ago
Alpha is a useful term but it is kind of like with shit tests. Nothing more beta than trying to be alpha. When you have put the work in you will simply be it.
KingOfAllWomen 7y ago
Everyone's endgame will be different. The condition for success though is the same. Getting what you want, and doing it your way.
The what and the way will be different for every guy, but it's crystal clear looking at people whether they got it or not in life.
UngovernableYxB 7y ago
This is absolute facts. I never wanted to be Alpha male or anything and when I acted what would be considered "beta" I just took as me acting like a little bitch. As someone in who is currently in their teens this is sorta eye opening. Reading this has made me realize that while ive never want to be an "alpha" im never gonna let myself get into the mindset of chasing being one.
