I'm very skinny, 25 yo (BMI 16). I have very low muscle building potential because of my small frame. Can I still be masculine ?

'low muscle building potential' is some soyshit mentality.
I hit a growth spurt back in college and wound up 6'4" and 122 pounds.
122 pounds.
I was a fucking stick.
Eat food, go to the gym, repeat for years.
I'm now ~190 lbs with a pretty great physique. It took me several years to get to a point where I felt truly confident with a shirt off.
You can be RP while being scrawny, but why make excuses for yourself and remain a stick?
leo26 1y ago
You were 6'4 and 122lb ? What is your wrist size?
EurasianChad 1 1y ago
You can also work out & do masculine shit
mattyanon Admin 1y ago
yes
Vermillion-Rx Admin 1y ago
Yes
But start eating and then lift
No-Stress-Cat 1y ago
RP is a state of mind. Learn. Think. Understand.
Then it will spread to your body. You will become jacked and shredded.
Eventually, it will spread to your soul. Then you will become...a god.
Vermillion-Rx Admin 1y ago
I agree with you, though being more masculine presenting (more muscular) will result in more interactions and at quicker time intervals that provide more of a feedback loop.
A guy who is more muscular and thus gets more redpilling interactions with women and verification of what we preach here will accelerate in his red pill journey and masculine mentality faster than a guy who doesn't. A guy who gets faster and more sustained feedback will adopt the mindset sooner and more strongly
Not to mention he will feel better about himself
leo26 1y ago
Yeah I get that but I don't wanna put my hopes into being muscular, like I said my personal potential is very low
No-Stress-Cat 1y ago
Put down your cock and pick up them dumbbells (after you wash your hands of course), you got work to do young brother.
As a matter of fact, I think I'm going to bust out 100 reps. I'll see you later.
Vermillion-Rx Admin 1y ago
Are skinny for barely eating or what? You didn't really tell us and you have zero excuse to not lift. Like none You need to lift and eat more than the rest of us dude
leo26 1y ago
No I eat a lot but my frame is very small, my wrists are 6 inches around
Lone_Ranger 3 1y ago
Get in the gym.
And do squats and deadlifts.
First learn to do them properly, hire a trainer if need be.
once you know how to do them properly - start adding weight. Be consistent. Go to they gym ever 48 hours.
In 30 days, you will be lifting big. Lift heavy, lean into it.
Eat 6 eggs a day and drink a gallon of milk.
Quit looking at porn and being a pussy.
Vermillion-Rx Admin 1y ago
Something isn't adding up. Find out what it is and gain weight
leo26 1y ago
Its just genetics, bone structure + very fast metabolism
joyboy 1y ago
Buddy none of those things matter if you lift heavy and eat a ton. I have the same situation as you (thin frame, fast metabolism) and I'm 5'6 150 lbs lean and lifting pretty heavy. If you can't gain weight you aren't eating enough. Calculate your TDEE and see if your eating in surplus of it (you probably aren't).
First-light 1 1y ago
If you don't naturally get much hypertrophy with exercise and you are young, eating well, sleeping well and have no signs of low testosterone, then it may be genetic but make sure you have ticked all those boxes first or its probably not.
If it is genetic, then you have probably got a gift for endurance stuff and should use it. You need to damage muscle for hypertrophy to occur. People who damage easily with little exercise, tend to grow larger muscles in compensation for the damage of their exercise. Some people are genetically predisposed to damage little with exercise. They get noticeably less hypertrophy. They are the true endurance types.
This is becoming better understood by coaches -you can't even train a group of endurance runners with the same workouts because of differences in this factor. A national level mile runner might have a weekly mileage as low as 25 miles -he would break with more miles than that- another at the same level might need a mileage of 70 miles to get the same gains as his muscles just don't notice 25 miles. If you are one of these guys, just pick the endurance sport you like and go at it. Become an endurance hero if you are born to be.
Kloi 1y ago
I pulled more pussy at 145 than I do at 192 but the quality has gone up. For reference I'm 6ft2.
Mind you I wouldn't say my weight is a correlation, my game improved.
Thankfully men aren't viewed like women where it's mainly physical on the front end, your SMV is a pie. If you're scrawny you can make up for it with game, personality.
BecomingABetterMan1 1y ago
I'm small because I have a small frame, so I won't try to get big. The fuck bro?
Not if you're gonna keep acting like a bitch.
If we were in prison together, I could make you be my girlfriend. If that thought scares you, it should. Now go eat some fuckin food and lift some heavy goddamn weights.
leo26 1y ago
I eat a lot, probably more than the average person, it's just genetics
BecomingABetterMan1 1y ago
every single person that's told me "I eat a lot" has never been able to quantify how much they actually eat.
If you ate as much as you think you do - you would not be small. You are not some special unicorn whom the laws of thermodynamics do not apply to.
Feel free to prove me wrong. Download Cronometer, weigh and log your food - everything you eat and drink that has calories - and report back in a week.
You don't know it, but I'm built like the guy you want to take advice from.
leo26 1y ago
I actually bought the food scale, I eat approximately 2700 calories per day
financehardo420 Should i (x1) 1y ago
Food scale isn’t accurate for shit; use myfitness pal and weigh out your food.
BecomingABetterMan1 1y ago
Despite what you think, that is not a lot of food. Move calories up to 3,000 daily, get 1g/lb bodyweight protein, and make the majority of your other calories come from carbohydrates.
Do you lift weights? Often times when I see posts like this, it's the OP looking for someone to validate their excuse to not lift. I hope that isn't you.
leo26 1y ago
I'm 5'7. 2700 should be a lot, in fact it's more than what the average person my height is. If my metabolism and bone structure were normal I would be fat
lurkerhasarisen 1 1y ago
Dude… you and I are the same height, and my wrists are a tad over six inches. When I was flying jets in my early 20s I wore a child’s watch (Mickey Mouse says it’s time to do acrobatics at 500 knots) because 1) that was one of the only watches that fit my tiny wrists, 2) I kept breaking the ones I had before because they couldn’t take the g-forces, and 3) I’m a quirky MoFo.
Guess who has six inch wrists and dated a runway model… and her sister.
THIS GUY RIGHT HERE.
I also married a cheerleader and have a black belt. I’ve been to war and led men in harm’s way.
And I have arms like vermicelli.
In a different comment I wrote that my biceps flex out at 12 inches, and there’s nothing I can do about it. A lot of people who are soft / fat / weak blame “genetics” for their plight. Most of that is nonsense. In my case, I don’t blame my thyroid or my aura or my star sign: my shoulder girdle is deformed from birth. You can see the deformity on an x-ray. I consulted with an orthopedic surgeon at the VA. His reaction was, “Yep… you’re screwed up all right, but I can’t fix it without causing a different problem that’s probably even worse.”
Being small creates a headwind, but it doesn’t dictate your destiny as a man. If you want be bigger because you think it will help… get bigger. But I have to tell you that your real problem isn’t your lack of size… it’s your lack of self confidence (which is probably justified, since we’re keeping it real).
But you get self confidence from self respect. (Not that I did NOT say anything about self esteem.). Here’s the thing about self respect: like all forms of respect it has to be earned.
How do you earn your own respect? Well… what kinds of men do you respect? Do the things they do to make them worthy of respect.
leo26 1y ago
Thanks for the thoughtful reply. Sorry to ask, but does your shoulder issue prevent/affect your lifting?
financehardo420 Should i (x1) 1y ago
Are you illiterate as well? That would explain the circular conversations.
Funny… for such a self proclaimed expert on lifting one would think you’d be smart enough to know the answer to your question.
lurkerhasarisen 1 1y ago
It hinders me a lot. My ability to do heavy lifts with my arms is severely constrained. Most of the common lifts that target arms, chest, and back put me at risk of dislocating my shoulders except at very light weights.
The takeaway from all that is that my upper body will never be bulky. My biceps are the biggest part of my arms, and they have less circumference than the coffee mug I’m using right now.
I’m small, but I’m also lean. My muscles aren’t bulky, but they are defined. In other words, I work with what I have.
You can complain about being dealt a bad hand genetically, or you can do the best you can with what you have to work with. Here’s a clue: if you make even a modest effort to become as good as you can, you’ll be ahead of the vast majority of guys, including a lot of guys who are more naturally blessed.
But again… RP is a mindset. Get your head right and the rest will follow. Seek improvement mentally, physically, emotionally, etc.. Get a little better every week, be patient, and watch the results add up over time.
Now stop typing and get to work.
BecomingABetterMan1 1y ago
Dude, I'm trying to help you and you keep doing this stupid shit.
You didn't come here for advice, you came here for validation. Fuck outta here.
Stay small if that's what you want. You're a prison sentence away from being someone's girlfriend.
Typo-MAGAshiv Endorsed Contributor 1y ago
Reading through this thread as well as his exchange with @financehardo420 about wrist size, I'd say you're absolutely correct.
Hey @Vermillion-Rx, what are the odds of bringing back the "askhole" flair? Or something similar, like "doesn't want advice; wants validation"?
Vermillion-Rx Admin 1y ago
Holy shit this post blew up. I'm going to check to read through all the comments
I might bring back the askhole flair honestly depending. It hasn't been horrible site wide but there are enough guys not improving much from one year to the next, in large part because of their posting mentality
financehardo420 Should i (x1) 1y ago
Funny how the kid with no gains believes he’s the biggest authority on lifting; talking about it’s physically impossible bc of 6in wrists lmfaooo

I'd rather have one than be one. Just saying.

He’s saying you’re victim weight bro. If you got in a fight you’d be dust in the wind someone like us would lay you flat effortlessly
leo26 1y ago
I am aware of that but like I said this is a particular aspect of me that I can't improve that much
financehardo420 Should i (x1) 1y ago
with that kind of mindset… enjoy spending the rest of your life getting cucked. enjoy watching any woman you’re attracted go home with men that did the fuckin work while you sit here crying about your wrists and genetic potential.
Until you change your mindset you deserve it
leo26 1y ago
Isn't it more productive to invest my time an effort in areas where I actually have potential to improve significantly, rather than focusing on the one area where I don't ? TRP is more than just lifting
financehardo420 Should i (x1) 1y ago
Assuming 8 hours of sleep a night, you get 112 waking hours per week (126 if you avg 6hrs).
Lifting 3-6 times/week, meal prepping 2x/week, and doing 150min of cardio/week is a total time investment of about 8-12 hours/week.
that leaves you about 100 hours/week to invest in other endeavors.
financehardo420 Should i (x1) 1y ago
For the question: yes; it’s more of a mindset/mental guideline read the sidebar. Verm hit nail on head though; you’re going to have a better time being muscular.
Next as per “tiny frame” I’m 5”8 and I’ve got six inch wrists. I was still able to pack on size.
Ie: biceps used to always slack. Built them via progressive overload and intensity while on a pretty extreme cal deficit (consuming 1250/day). Hit a plateau at 30lb dumbells… would bang out maybe a rep or two at 32.5lb then finish the set w 30lb. Kept repeating process till I could rep full set at 32.5 and by the end of that summer I got to 60lb each hand n my biceps were the biggest they’d ever been.
If i can do it you can do it. Eat 1g protein/lb and train w intensity broski
leo26 1y ago
Are you sure your wrists are 6 inches ? What are your bicep measurements ?
financehardo420 Should i (x1) 1y ago
15-16in depending on pump. And that’s after an intensive shoulder surgery that resulted in having to take considerable time off (and I’m still not back at lifting heavy yet). I’m significantly bigger than my dad and gramps were too; you can outwork genetics brah that’s just an excuse for lazy fucks.
As per wrist size it’s like 6in and like a centimeter or two. I had to remove the vast majority of links in my watches to fit lol
leo26 1y ago
That sounds more like 7 inches which is the normal wrist size
financehardo420 Should i (x1) 1y ago
Last time I checked a centimeter doesn’t equal an inch. Trust me I have small wrists and hands. Size 9 shoes. But keep making excuses instead of pushing yourself broski hope it works out for ya
leo26 1y ago
Well you said 1 or 2 cm and 2 cm is 0.8 inches
financehardo420 Should i (x1) 1y ago
Mind over matter; the Lord could’ve given me 4in wrists and I’d still find a way to stimulate growth
leo26 1y ago
Lol that's kinda easy to say when you have normal wrists
financehardo420 Should i (x1) 1y ago
I just remeasured my wrist more accurately; it’s actually 6in as well.
train harder.
leo26 1y ago
Like exactly 6 in?
financehardo420 Should i (x1) 1y ago
Precisely
leo26 1y ago
It's physically impossible to get a 16 inch bicep on a 6 inch wrist
joyboy 1y ago
Who cares lol you can still look good. Your arms don't need to be that big since thin wrist makes them look bigger in proportion

financehardo420 Should i (x1) 1y ago
What source does your dumbass even have that tells you it is physically impossible to have 15in biceps with 6in wrists? I literally do; I’m not a medical anomaly.
leo26 1y ago
My source is Dr. Casey Butt who spent years researching this very issue. He made a calculator that tells you your maximum muscular genetic potential. According to it the maximum bicep size of someone with exactly 6in wrists at about 15% BF would be 14 inches.
https://www.fitmatic.com/body/calculator/body-composition-calculator
financehardo420 Should i (x1) 1y ago
Do you have 14in biceps?
Casey butt can go suck my butt. Shut the fuck up and go lift already bruh
leo26 1y ago
I mean he's a PhD that iterally spent years researching the topic of the correlation of bone size and muscle potential with hundreds of samples but since you say your wrists are 6in even though before you had said they were bigger then I guess I should just believe you instead
Like I said below I do plan to lift, I just know that I still probably won't ever really look like I lift bc of my limitations
Intrepid_Place53900 1 1y ago
you don't have to be jacked.
Guys who are naturally thin, you just need to get toned. No reason why you can't get muscle tone, although true red heads have problems there.
Are you lifting? What is your routine. Don't complain here if you aren't actually lifting seriously
First-light 1 1y ago
Of course you can be RP and scrawny.
An important part of RP is an inner commitment to self improvement. A man can and should earn greater value by improving himself. Health is an important component of value -both inner value of benefit to you and outward appearance that will be seen as beneficial by potential partners.
Improve your health and fitness. This will make you look a better version of yourself -because you will be. The value of strength has recently been noted a lot in sport and in life -particularly as helping ward off age related troubles. So some strength training exercise is probably a good idea but it does not need to make you look big.
Focus on the macros first they are actually the things that will most improve your health and quality of life anyway. Eat quality unprocessed food as much as possible, sleep as much as you can, reduce or eliminate bad habits like smoking and drinking alcohol. Build aerobic fitness and strength. Beyond that it matters little.
Reflect that a skinny guy with a top 10% Vo2 max, more strength than average for his age and size, a good diet and good sleep is way way better for himself and for a potential partner than a big gym Chad living on a diet of pumping iron, PEDs and parties who will have big muscles but couldn't chase you round the block without collapsing in a sea of hydrogen ions from lactate and probably gets in a stress about quite a bit in life.
Strength training -regardless of looks- is a good thing and almost every man could do well to have at least some adjustable free weights, a pull up bar and some resistance bands but achieving the macros of diet, lifestyle and exercise are more important than the detail of one component of exercise.

I've written some stuff about what's important and what's not when it comes to muscles several times on the trp.red side of the site. Here are a few samples:
https://www.trp.red/feed/status/154641
https://www.trp.red/feed/status/147992
https://www.trp.red/feed/status/143355
In your case, you might never be as large as me. And that's OK! you'll get a 6-pack way easier than I can.
Just don't be soft.
Tagging two of your fellow skinny dudes who are Red Pilled in case they want to join in this conversation (they might not see it otherwise): @lurkerhasarisen @mentorpheus
lurkerhasarisen 1 1y ago
I haven’t been active much lately, but I see I’ve been tagged, @Leo26.
Yeah… if I were a Bethesda character I would be a wood elf, and it sucks sometimes. I’m not as thin as you are, but my situation is compounded by the fact that I’m 5’7. For reference: I’m in my early 60s.
Getting respect as a man has been an uphill battle my entire life. Once people get to know me that tends to diminish a lot, but I always start at a deficit, and I know that I don’t have the same potential to be thought of as “manly” as guys who are naturally bigger / taller. That’s the bad news. Now the good news (and I’ll be reiterating what some other guys have already written):
RP is a mindset. It’s about seeing things as they are rather than how we would like them to be. In some senses it’s easier for guys like us to get red-pilled. Here’s why I say that. Guys who win the SMV lottery when they’re young get a lot of favorable treatment from women in their sexual prime. Guys like us don’t get that, so we have fewer delusions about female nature. A guy I work with (a good friend, in fact) is a natural-born chick magnet, and one time he said something about my apparent skepticism about the benevolent nature of women. I told him, “ You think women are nice because women are nice to you.”
One thing you hear a lot in RP circles is that men don’t red-pill men: women do. Being perceived as less manly provides guys like us a front row seat to women’s worst behavior. (Frankly, I’m fairly red pilled about how crappy men can be, too, but that’s a topic for another forum.)
I work out: a lot. Like you, my potential is severely limited by genetic factors that no amount of training can seriously affect. I can tinker around the edges, but the fact is that a man’s chest-to-waist ratio, waist-to-height ratio, and bicep measurements are the most important “markers of masculinity” (for lack of a better term. My waist-to-height ratio is fine, but the other two are not, and there’s not a thing I can do about them other than at the margins. My wrists are about the same size as yours, and I finally broke down and bought an adult-size watch. My biceps are 12 inches when I flex.
TWELVE INCHES. If I busted my hump for years I might get another inch or two. I’m just not built for bulk, and I’m so prone to shoulder injuries that any serious attempt to get huge would almost certainly leave me worse off. My legs are crazy strong, but even they’re not particularly bulky. (I set a new PR on deadlifts recently at well over twice my body weight.)
What I have going for me is that even at my age I have abs. Chicks love that (although I almost never have any reason to display them). I’m also freakishly smart (not bragging: I was born this way), and I’m funny in that way that only really smart people can be. Also - and this is important - IDGAF about what other people think.
After a slow start I ended up doing quite well with women, and I don’t think that anyone worthy of my respect has any question about my RP credentials.

The way the rest of this thread has gone, I think you and I and everyone else in it wasted our time.
OP just wants to make excuses and wallow in his lameness.
lurkerhasarisen 1 1y ago
I wish I could give him some v-cards. I responded one more time because I’m a little bored and feeling drained after doing 90 minutes of cardio today, but I’d bet money that the OP is going to ignore all the advice he gets. He seems to have come here looking for either a magic pill or “permission” to be a black-pill guy.
leo26 1y ago
I plan to lift, but I'm not deluded and I know that even though I'll put all my effort into it, I'm still probably not going to look like I lift. I started this thread to look for advice on ways to be masculine without looking muscular, not to wallow.
