Should I ask ahead of time if she needs to carpool? I'm not sure if that comes off as needy, or if it's just covering my bases.

Avoid asking questions, it's a coffee date, picking her up and dropping her off isn't expected or normal or even a great idea.

And it's not carpooling if you're picking her up, that's you being her taxi service.

Keep it simple, meet for coffee, she can work out her own travel arrangements
