The female mating strategy is to get the best genes possible and secure provisioning. In the perfect world, they would get both genes and provisioning from the same alpha male. Of course in reality it doesn't work like this, but that's outside the scope of this comment.
So stage one for her is to hook you in with sex and for her to secure the good genes. This is the wild sex hook up phase.
After a while she will then pivot towards trying to get you to commit to her. She will try to pair bond with you and get you to commit to her so she can fulfill the second half of her mating strategy.
This is generally when a plate will naturally break. If she can't get the commitment she wants then she will walk and try the process again with somebody else.
