So one thing that I find contradicting to the typical TRP knowledge is that if you don't make a move on a girl you like soon enough, you will be put in the friendzone. However, I hear a lot of stories contradicting this.
For example, I have a friend who met a girl and they started hanging out as friends for a whole summer, he never made a move, they just hung out almost every day. The girl did not have feelings at the time, and the guy never made a move so you would think that hes stuck in the friend zone, but when he left for college after the summer was over, she suddenly had a change of heart and decided that she wanted him and even made the move to kiss him at a party and asked to be his girlfriend. What is this?
Another example, my dad had liked my mom for a long time before they started dating. Apparently he was treating her very well like she was his girlfriend before they were even together. He eventually asked her out and she shot him down and that was that, they carried on being friends. Eventually one of my mom's friends told her that she would hook my dad up with one of her friends. She then had the realization that he was the one for her and she couldnt stand the idea of him dating someone else, so she finally told my dad that she would date him.
I suppose one connection between these two stories is that both my friend's girlfriend and my mom both did not use dating apps. My friend's girlfriend "didn't think it was for her" and my mom obviously was way before dating apps. But overall what is the deal with these two events? They started out as friends and eventually realized they had feelings for each other. What would this be called? It seems to contradict the idea that if you don't make a move fast enough, that she'll put you in the friendzone forever and I'm curious to what the TRP community thinks of this.

More mature women will decide to go for Mr. Right instead of Mr. Right Now. I think the whole friend-zone thing is just a way for guys to recognize when they're being taken advantage of. We can talk all day about genuine desire vs transactional sex but at the end of the day if you're seriously looking for a woman to be a wife and mother of your children, you have to do a lot of vetting which may exclude hoes that friend-zone orbiters to take advantage.
My wife was hot enough for me to put my dick in her but she wasn't the hottest I could get. Seriously, the women who make good wives are boring, homely, modest, shy, etc. We were friends for a couple years before we got intimate.
So I guess it really depends what phase of life you're in. Most young guys want dank sex with hoes. So red pill has strategies for that. When you're older and looking to settle down and have kids, we have strategies for that as well. You probably don't hear about it as much but it's called red pill on hard mode. Anyway, I gotta go fuck my wife.

Guy never makes a sexualized move, only commitment behaviors, and she's not interested.
Woman realizes later he actually has sexual potential and it flips a switch. Not much to it. In one case it was his absence that
Imagine you're friends with who you think is a super good Christian chick who would never even kiss a guy until the 3rd date? You gonna view her as a potential lay? Probably not. Then you hear she's looking to have some fun, now she's suddenly sexually available to you. (Obviously a lot of guys would still try to hit anyway but that's not the oiyof my point)

Not always.
FOMO
FOMO again
friends and then dating is a TERRIBLE IDEA. it kills passion and chances are you're straight into a beta/sexless low-interest relationship, ie providership rather than hot monkeysex.
alpha fucks / beta bucks. Friends first is basically beta dating: you provide security and ease rather than attraction and passion.
If you don't make a move straight away, you either move into the friendzone, the providerzone, or occasionally you can maintain distance/intrigue and make things work that way, which you do by NOT BEING FRIENDS.

My mom rejected my dad like 4 times and then kissed him on the dance floor (I think) after dating wasn't working out for her
Fuck that shit. Sexless marriage now

This is how it works:
You don't make a move for BUT you maintain the "maybe" aura, you maintain the alphaness AND she doesn't meet someone better in the meantime - you won't be put in the friendzone - BUT you will gravitate toward it. If she's giving you openings and IOIs at some point she's gonna realize you're not the alpha she thought you were.
This also depends on a girl. If she's not a hot girl, chances are you will maintain your position longer, if she's hot she'll meet a lot of better guys in same period of time, so the window of opportunity is shorter.
Call it "infatuation time" - how long a girl is gonna be infatuated with you depends on how long will it take her to meet next guy she gets infatuated with.

Some girls do in fact need to get to know a guy before there's any relationship interest. In your example it's pretty extreme, a whole summer?
I've seen some girls do this, have a guy in friend zone for awhile, then they hook up.
It's usually when the girl is bored, or too busy to have other relationships, etc. and the girl is never really hot for that guy, he's just ...... a nice guy. comfortable like.
