Alright, I'm a young guy and fed up with my job. I need a online skill. I want a skill I can use as a fallback for money however is not location dependant.
These are the career I got in the back of my mind:
-
Web or software developer
-
Artificial Intelligence Architect
- Graphic designer
If you guys have any experience with these fields or anything to throw at me I would appriacte it.

It's hard to make an online skill pay because you are competing with people in India working for pence per hour.
Web is really hard work: massive competition and AI about to replace half of it.
Software developer: maybe, if you're good, have unique skills, work well with people, and can connect with them in person or in skype even if working remotely. SD covers a huge range of skills though, and you have to be very very good to make online only pay. Will take you a few years of very hard work to get there.
Perhaps, if you can do it. It's not easy though, and again will require a few years experience. It's very very hard to keep on top of the industry even if you're in it because it's changing so quickly.
Market about to drop like a stone as artists get the hang of midjourney etc. If you're a natural at it, love it, and are fast and good then maybe, but it's a hard one to get into and it's about to get harder.

Web or software developer: this is the safest choice despite what people say about chatGPT. Web development is going to change but it's not going away any time soon. Learn React.
Artificial Intelligence Architect: Forget about this one. You're going to need at least a Master's degree to mess around with this. Source: I work in AI.
Graphic designer: Unless you're exceptionally talented, you'll be making less money than as a web developer.

Disagree on point 2: you can learn how to do this in your spare time, at home, from online courses and build it up from there. Yes you do need degree level knowledge, but it's possible to learn it yourself in a year or two. Source: I know people who've done this.

Graphic designing is a field of great turbulence now due to AI. And even before AI it's already a field where there are lots of competition, cheap customers and I wouldn't advise you to follow it unless you have a great passion with it.
AI seems to be the best out of the 3, considering the potential it has to replace web/software dev.

I'm going through boot camp for full stack web+mobile developer. chatGPT can already code better than me so I'm already obsolete before I even get started. You're going to need to find a job that can only be performed by a human augmented by AI. The lower rungs of the ladder into software are disappearing fast.
Occupations safe from ChatGPT:

Trade skills. Learn to build. When the economy collapses, you'll be needing to trade something you build (like wooden chairs) for eggs and milk.
