I found a job making $18 an hour. It’s not much, and is a setback since I made $25 an hour back in the day, however I have heard that I will likely be working 60 hours a week and don’t truly have a choice. They do pay time and a half, though, which means I’ll be making 60+ thousand a year after overtime. I also expect a raise after my training period as the girl who referred me to the employer says I will get one. If I get to 20 an hour I will be making 70k/year after the time and a half. But I don’t want to do this forever. I understand that this isn’t much money to invest with, realistically, but it isn’t living paycheck to paycheck so I wonder if you all have any ideas.
I also wonder if it is possible to have a decent social life under these conditions. I guess maybe Friday and Saturday would be enough time for socializing?

60 is not that much, depending on the job. People do that for their whole lives. Do it and invest as much as possible. See r/personalfinance for some tips

Depends how tired you are.

Take it. If it sucks, bounce. In the military we do 12hr days 6 days/wk. You have just enough time to eat, sleep, and shit with one day off to either clean the barracks or go to Church. When I worked in a call center I would get tons of overtime and holiday pay so I was making way more than my peers. It's totally do-able when single. Not so do-able when you have a wife and kids. I've done plenty of low voltage work(ethernet cabling, sprinklers, alarms) and it's not so bad if you get the right equipment. I had a toolbelt with everything and I could just pick it up and go work all day. Get the leather one for electricians with suspenders. You may only be able to afford the nylon one at first but after you rip through it you can decide if this is something you'd like to do for a while and invest in leather.
Anyway, the best part about this job is basically no women to deal with. At least not as bosses or coworkers. There's also a path to be your own boss in that field.

Depends how well you cope and function with it
Some people thrive on it, some find they have no time and/or it's insufferable
You're going to have to improve time management for sure to make sure you can still enjoy life and accomplish the r st of your goals
If you already know it's not a long term thing then you will have to determine the cost/benefit of getting through it from now until then
You're also strapped for cash rn so you have to make the best choices in your self interest right now

The money you mentioned is plenty, as long as you live frugally/modestly and remain solo.
Women are a money pit.

I mean the “enough for socializing” is based on ur personality. My thing would be maybe getting a trade or going to school. Both so u can get a career at the least. Still wage type but better work life balance and possibly more money yearly . Hey if ur ballsy and don’t like working for someone long term, start a business.
