I have picked up injury in hand and leg (tendons most likely, recurring.injury).
I want to prepare plan if that will last for too long or happen again.
So.assuming the worst period (swollen etc) of the injury is gone, is swimming good for recovery period?

Have swam and lifted for many years. Swimming is often recommended by therapists, because "bouyancy". Bouyancy removes a huge percentage of the constant pull of gravity, so for recovery from knees, hips, anything that hurts with full force of gravity is a way to work the muscle with much less chance of further damage.
As an alternative I find it an excellent full body workout. All muscle work is just contraction, but the angles of contraction are very different in the pool. In the gym, you are usually using a shorter range of motion than ideal for the pool. When you do shoulder extensions out to the side, you are fully extended, and use less weight. Even with flys on your back, you probably start your motion partially contracted, so you can lift heavier.
In the pool, big gym guys often do poorly, and don't like it, not because they do not have the muscle, but because they do not have the flexibility to get fully extended. If you keep swimming, it tends to lengthen the muscle because the goal is full extension and distance per stroke. So swimmers, while surprisingly strong, don't look as pumped as gym rats.
This may or may not be how you want to go with your body. But when I had to quit running, knees, back in the pool was the obvious option. The only contra-indication is if you have shoulder issues, main injury to swimmers is shoulder tendons from overtraining, but you have to do a lot of distance to get that. For your hand it should help, because you are pulling against a liquid surface every stroke, your will naturally slip water (pull with less force) if it is bothering you. So your hand will get strength back with lower risk of injury.

Bunch of.useful info. Thanks.

Ask a physical therapist. Mine had me doing all kinds of weird stuff like electric shocks, heat, ultrasonic, and massage. Then I had to do very specific exercises with very specific weights.

2 injuries I have researched better than physios. 1 they guessed it right. I mean there is so much that can fail that without scans or recurring often visits it would take years to guess-heal injury. Hence why I dive into peptides injection as well.

Yeah I mean swimming is a whole-body exercise. You might just fuck yourself up on accident. Sometimes you actually need surgery.

BTW
I got T results back. Despite 100g of sugar just before blood I went from 320 to 400 (1.5y difference). No chance I get TRT. I wonder whats my T b4 sugar.

Get a retest right after you wake up with no sugar. You may not need TRT at all. You probably crashed from 600 down to 400. I'm doing really well at 600 on TRT but I have low SHBG so my free T is right around 2%.

Did you use any handy calculator to check free-T knowing globulins?
whytehorse2021 3y ago
Nah for a free T calculation you need total T, SHBG, and albumin. Or you can get it tested directly.

Swimming is great for the body. Also, brazilian jiu jitsu is, as well. Neither are replacements for lifting.....there really isn't, if you want to get big.

Purely to stay active.
It suck to be in that state.
