I spend 90 minutes typing out a field report, condensing it down and drawing lessons from it. There are some really difficult situations in that creates questions I struggle to answer. It's a 4 minute read, yet no one fucking reads it or comments. Some less serious posts will get like 8 responses, am I expecting too much?

I don't see you answering many "4 minute read" posts.
Here's something you might not know:
Posts that are more than 3 paragraphs are this:
Intro paragraph of "woe is me".
25 Paragraphs of oneitis, alternating with terrible past for variation.
One paragraph of "this isn't oneitis, and I feel I am different".
The answer is always the same: lift, ditch your oneitis, meet women, and PRACTICE.

I’m don’t answer all 4 minute read posts. But since you’ve been around I take at least 4 minutes to respond to lots of my posts, sometimes up to 20 minutes.
And I totally agree with you on the 3+ paragraphs post about oneitis and relationships. They very often are formatted as such.
fumbor 1y ago
Lol. It really is that simple I guess. I read a passage from Naval Ravikant's book that actually explains this. It seems like whenever somebody ELSE is asking for advice, it's extremely easy to come up with the right solution because you think rationally about the problem; but when you have the same issues, emotions usually cloud your judgment so you can't come up with a rational answer the same way you would for somebody else.
That's kind of why you get the same questions of "this isn't one-itis" over and over even though they're blatantly obvious to answer

Agree with you, I think this also is applied to field reports (which aren’t topics of oneitis). Some of us just need help evaluating things and seeing them from a different angle than the one we already lived though.

Not everyone is like this. I am one of the people who, if the post is interesting and I can relate with it, I will indeed read the entire thing, whether it takes me 10 seconds or 10 minutes.
But in today's age of super fast-paced media and TikTok style entertainment, if you don't capture the average person's attention within like 10 seconds, or with the header or something, you're not going to get their time.
Things didn't used to be like this and attention was less valuable because we didn't have smartphones, internet, TV, computers and alike, so therefore people were bored a lot. And boredom is exactly when you do things like read a full post or actually use your brain to just think about life. But nowadays if you want this, you have to purposefully shield yourself from these attention grabbing media sources. Meditation helps.
But most people won't do this and so your have to craft your media to be enticing to the general population of unnaturally-induced ADD victims.

Everyone has developed fear of missing out, more or less.
imtranscending 1y ago
That is the unfortunate truth. I thought I titled my post well referring to me getting heat from SJWs and a twink, but who knows it was missed.
This shortening of an attention span is affecting us self improvement junkies on trp.red

It has less to do with attention span and more that you're an online random with a long post.
The investment you are expecting is too high. Especially if you are including most details of what actually happened.
When posts are long and users are trying to quote specific sections of your post, it's difficult to find them again and the effort it takes to give you substantial feedback rises to the point that it's difficult.
I comment on most posts but I can't find the time to comment on yours. Especially when the posts have a lot of beginner mistakes in them, I can't hit them all.
It's one thing if a post is long and a lot of it is just background that doesn't need to be responded to really, it's another entirely when virtually the whole post has things to comment on.
The difference between your posts and other people's posts is that often times other people have relationship issues etc where there is just background And yours are game posts where the effort needed to break down your game errors would take like 30 minutes if done in any kind of satisfactory manner,
Edit: also, you are severely underestimating the value of paragraph breaks and other kind of formatting that would make a long post more readable and digestible.
See this comment of mine for example. It's long but formatted in a way that it's more readable:

I see your comment, a lot more paragraph breaks. I'm still using paragraph breaks as if I was writing a paper, not for a forum. Great pointer.
I can understand that, however a condensed version may include only relevant details, but there's so many it can make for a lengthier post.
Us noobies appreciate the time dedicated from you and the other RP veterans towards helping us out. As far as noticing the excessive amount of beginner mistakes, that's only possible when a post goes into a level of detail which would reveal those mistakes. That's why it can be easy to get carried away typing these out with doing a mediocre job of considering our reader's interest.
I see the conundrum man. Generally speaking the writer has already tried to analyze the mistakes, and can only do so from a limited point of view. That need for another set of eyes to review and interpret the information from different lens is the whole point of the post. What's a good solution for this?
Are field reports generally like that, as in they take gobs more time to break down, or just mine? The worse the game, the more correction is required. Just like how when a teacher get's back a test full of errors, more corrections equals more effort.
Vermillion-Rx Admin 1y ago
Right, but you want commenter's time and effort, you cannot control that, you can only operate within the realm of a commenter's psychology
You're welcome
Right, but read over your draft with full details and honestly cut out the stuff you can already recognize is a problem and why. Your post could be half as long if you can identify the issues in what you did before posting
How many times do commenters confirm your own suspicions?
Leave those parts out, I routinely delete up to 2/3 of my original drafts when I post
No, if most of the post was providing extraneous details like venue, logistics etc, then those parts probably wouldn't require commentating
the problem is that you are commenting out all the details of the set. And in all of those details are things to comment on. People don't have time for it generally. Sometimes I comment on your game posts when I have time but like the last two I just didn't have it.
Then of course by the time the time comes around there are 15 new posts on the forum to comment on, so your post falls into the shadows of old posts

I was thinking about that later, as soon as dick rider opened up his mouth I should've just casually walked away and noped outta there. What about times when I'm met with RBF from a girl who's clearly disinterested? Should I politely disengage or just walk away?
Like me lol, I gave em' a story. They're also obsessed with the alpha seed, sports seem to be everything in high school (from what I've read, but that is consistent with my experience dealing with high schoolers). Fucking home schooled and co-op man.

I read it, I just couldn't think of anything useful to say. Never done day game. It was about you going to a fair and trying to chat up 3 girls yea?
I guess find a better venue, not many single girls are gonna be at a fair. Maybe some friend goups and shit, but you'd need a wingman I think. You should a bar or club or something instead if you are gonna fly solo.
Chillin with the cousin could potentially have lead to some opportunities I guess. Woulda given you some preselection, girls would be more at ease during your approaches if seeing you with people, especially other females.
