If I had a guess, it's to avoid looking creepy trying to smash younger chicks. I didn't know any guys lied their age downwards to be honest

Absolutely, a lot of men I know do this. Specially online, they are in their early 30s but put 21 or 23 on their bio. Even irl i have seen some do it and pretend to be younger by 4-5 years. I know for certain they aren't the age they claim to be because I have seen some documentation of theirs.

tbh i do bc i’m 26 going on 27 in undergrad. where most girls are 18-23. in big picture of life not that big of an age gap; but imo in perspective of college aged girls kinda bit of a gap. i make myself 21/22 on tinder whenever i make a profile but idk. i think tinder/online dating has officially burnt out - i’m swiping left 99.999% of time on there lol

To spoof the algorithms. If you're 45 you'll never be seen by a 21yr old. Most women go for 3-7yrs older. I mean what 45yr old guy wants a 42yr old woman? Talk about leftovers, damaged goods, all that jazz.

You can maybe get a girl in her late 20’s online in your 40’s, but for the most part, they already have unlimited attention and can focus their sights on the “hawt” men. Peak physical attractiveness in men is like mid to late 20’s.
Sure, if a fit 45 year old with his life together had the shot, he could probably wow all of those coeds. But dating apps, that’s just not where older men should be to find younger women.

Women lie about their age all the time on OLD, oh, I"m not really 39, I"m 45. They do this for the OLD filters, so they are seen by more guys, not necessarily younger guys but guys looking for younger women.
Guys do same thing, especially if you are at a cut off, like 42, you put like 39 or something.
No big deal as long as everyone tells each other before they meet.

I don't lie but there's nothing actually wrong with lying to women. Their entire existence is a lie- from their makeup, the clothes hiding their blobby bodies, their bullshit jobs they can't explain other than the impressive title, their education, their hobbies and especially their history.
Women lie like breathing. It's okay to lie once or twice.
