I got a girl’s number around 1 am and texted her. She texted me back at 3 saying “hey lmann!!” I was about to go to bed, so I just texted her the next day and no response. When you get that late night text do you have to invite them over, or they’ll disappear? I was pretty tired at that point.

Some chicks like to get drunk and sleep with random men. They go to the bar and get loaded up on free alcohol and drunk text guys at 3AM. Keep in mind that if they don't like you in the morning they can cry rape and be absolved of their bad decision.

She was drunk.
Some you win, some you lose, don't sweat it.

Next time just invite her over when you get that message?

Select for what you want.
If you want drunk quickies then yes.
If you want a girl who'll be around when sober then test for that instead.

This means nothing. Most chicks are tired as fuck at that hour. She probably crashed shortly after sending that and then had to do a litany of other things the next day.
Women text like retards most of the time and this is probably no exception
Edit: what did you text her the next day?

I said “Hey name, it was cool meeting you, we should get together again sometime soon.”

I don't think that sounds too bad at all, what was the context for seeing each other the first time? Like where did you two meet and spend time before getting her number?

I approached her at a bar. Spoke to her for maybe 10 minutes and she seemed into me. Then I asked her if we could head to another part of the bar where it’d be easier to talk (it was loud where we were) and she said something about staying with her friends (she was in a big group) so I got her number, texted her and bailed.
I think I didn’t build a strong enough connection initially and I should have stuck around instead of bailing but I usually eject when they don’t comply.

I wouldn't have bailed but I also wouldn't have expended any more than 20 mins total either.
My strategy is to weave something we talked about into a date idea. I try to set up a date with them on the spot after or during me saying I have to get back to xyz at the place or if I'm actually about to leave for the night.
If she says yes to the the date, I then get her number. Numbers in of themselves are not ideal, there should be a driving reason to have the number, i.e. agreement to get a date. If she says no to the date to begin with, you know she'll never meet you even if you did get the number
