I"m near 60.
Came out of engineering school, worked as a hard core engineer for years.
Had to switch (careers), not (jobs), several times, due to changing market/jobs,etc. Most of stuff going offshore, etc. I'm in (cloud) stuff now. In each career switch, I saw it coming, I research, planned an exit/move and did it.
what's the secret? Hard work. I have the advantage of a very technical background yes, but I never stop learning. Example, moving from Semiconductors to Cloud. Not much in common, learn new stuff.

What are you good at?

The path is the same whether you start early or late. It's hard work and dedication.
Preferrably you do your due diligence and research good career paths first, but it's not really required.
Become exceptional at something that is in demand. Become essential to a customer, a business, a city, an industry.

In my own experience, even after you consciously decide to pursue high-paying jobs, you'll still have to pivot several times. You'll have to make a big jump from liberal arts to something profitable, but expect to make smaller jumps after you find a suitable path.
I think the main advice I can give you is don't run into debt, don't be dumb with women, basically don't do anything that would break you from taking risks and switching jobs whenever you feel like it.

You just have to reach the "fuck it" point. Most people never do. With a degree you can teach English overseas and fuck hot chicks. It's what I did.
