Does anyone remember the post by an EC on diet. It was something like we've been lied to our whole life etc etc. Brought in blood sugar spikes as one of the reasons people dont lose weight.

Hi, you can google for this pretty easily. Regular consumption of carbohydrates cause spikes in blood sugar that cause the release of insulin. Insulin is required for your cells to uptake the carbohydrates and restore your blood sugar level. Insulin also promotes the conversion of sugar into fat and the storage of fat. This is basically the principle behind the keto diet, that you eliminate carbohydrates to avoid the fat storing effects of insulin. But this theory is disputed. You can still lose weight while consuming carbohydrates - maybe its not as fast though. If you just keep a calorie deficit, you will lose weight. You also need to keep a calorie deficit on the keto diet to lose weight.

If you're talking about Whisper's post, here you go.

Thanks. Yes it was whisper. For some reason I was search itiswr1tten's and mattyanon's posts. I just couldn't remember.

It's true and now well known. Sugar industry lied, bribed and manipulated all our dietary requirements (they still continue to do this). Fat was (wrongly) vilified as the cause of being fat and unhealthy.
Result: widespread weight gain and diabetes.
Same promoter guy went on to do the same thing to promote smoking after it was known to cause premature death.
Whisper's post is spot on, but fails to give solid tips on what to do instead.
I'm still working on this, but it seems to be:
"Avoid processed" is because processed food tends to be ground up and rebuilt (tiny particles means rapid absorption and hence glucose and then insulin spikes). Often high salt and carbs because "processed" means "designed to be tasty despite being cheap".

Yup I came across an article on how the sugar industry lobbied that it was healthy. They claimed 1 tablespoon of sugar was as healthy as an apple. And marketed the same number of calories but as though people would be sated with a tablespoon of sugar.
I dint cut off sugar completely since I enjoy an occasional pastry. But I ensure to eat it closer to lunch time. Its funny how they promote carbs in the food pyramid when the ideal food pyramid should be the inverse. I guess its easier to feed people carbs than meat.
Funny thing was I skipped breakfast my whole life but saw drastic results when I stopped carbs, well restricted carbs.
People still think cheese is fattening when in reality its the processed cheese which is shit.

Cardio/hiit multiple times a week, lifting and a 8 hour meal window sounds like hell for making good gains tbh. Especially when restricting even healthy carbs

Depends on your goals

Get artificial sugar like xylitol to get past the sugar cravings and let the spikes die down. I didn't like aspartame, splenda, and a few others. After a few weeks you are back to normal and replace sugar with fructose from fruit.
