Long story short - I'm dropping out of college. I can't decide on a major and I'm not going to waste anymore time. Unfortunately I decided on this only recently, but better late than never aye? I applied to an apprenticeship program that will give me an electrical journeyman's license after 5 years (OTJ Training, free school).
The main deciding factor is an aptitude test, which I'm not all that worried about, although I will make sure I am prepared (the test is in April).
What should I do in the mean time? I'm working part time in retail & working out + doing mma. Hanging out with friends and expanding my social circles. Should I work more? When this apprenticeship rolls around I'm going to be working like a dog and I kind of want to live life a bit before I disappear lmao.
Any input would be great. My parents are on board with my decision and my friends support me. I think this is a good direction to head towards, as this track coincides with my overarching goals (starting my own business eventually, saving up $ sooner rather than later, etc).
I can't help but feel like a bum at the moment, though. A lot of people my age (20) that are in College, living it up. I'm just stuck in a bit of a loop but I do feel like I am growing as a person.
Thanks in advance,
PoH

One of the things you'll miss out on by dropping out of college is a liberal education. Psychology, philosophy, physics, music, etc were all part of my physics degree. If you value having a broad mind you could read and get the same level of education(or better).

I did an apprenticeship through the IBEW for a year. Wasn't bad at all and I had steady, well paid and interesting work while I was in the union.
Fortunately, I had other career opportunities pop up and didn't have to stick with it, but it's a great career to have, and you can basically work anywhere you want. It's like the male equivalent of being a travelling nurse.

Your parents and friends are onboard.
Would you do what you are doing if they aren't?
If not, rethink it.
Life is mostly figuring it out as you go. But you have the basics well planned out.

Honestly not too sure. If everyone was against what I was doing, I think it'd be for a good reason as my support group has my best interests in mind.
However, no man is an island. I made sure not to surround myself around fucking idiots, so I think having intelligent, well-rounded people agreeing with me definitely makes me more confident in my decision.
