Having an ex plate do this, but also had this happen with pervious ltr's as well.
they'll hit you up outta the blue over text, like text you a picture of some food they know you like, or say they just visited a place you two went together and they thought of you, you'll go back and forth for maybe one or two texts then they'll completely go ghost... My assumption is this behavior is them fishing to see if you still want them, and if they get any hint of "oh i could still have them" they get their dopamine hit, feel better about themselves, and then 'peace out'. Is this the correct assumption i'm making here?

They want to see if they can still get you as their backup option, by replying you give them positive validation and an ego boost by making them think they're still desirable. Something made her insecure recently and she goes to her beta for attention to see if she's still hot or not, once she knows she splits. I made an account to reply to this thread.
