Hey guys, I'm trying to find way to improve my sleep. I always had some kind of insomnia and this shit is starting to get to me. I can't recover properly and it's affecting my gains. I tried cutting computer time etc, but I always end up using fucking NyQuil.
Thank you,

I also have problems to fall sleep. I tried melatonin but sometimes that doesn't do anything to me. I used to lucid dreaming long long time ago, when i was a teenage loser hahaha. Anyway not anymore, but the other day i tried the WILD technique that i used to do for lucid dreaming just because it implied the sleeping part haha. For my surprise i falled sleep like in 7 min. It wasn't the best sleep ever, and i got really weird dreams, but i didn't lost my gains or strength next day in the gym. I think meditation works effectively it's quite the same thing. What helps the most is having sleeping hygiene, but for an emergency if you don't want to take drugs it's ok.

Search fundamental health podcast, his most recent one is a light specialist and many people say after following for a couple weeks, its strange to not fall asleep within 10 minutes of lieing down at night

I listen to rain. I downloaded a 2 hour audio file of rain and light thunder and I put it on loop while I sleep. Works like a treat.

I've tried everything and the only thing that worked was either moving near the equator where the days and nights are always 12 hours or pouring lots of alcohol on it. I don't know how other people do it. When I was at "white nights" in Russia(3 days of sunlight) I absolutely could not sleep for 2 days straight. I always get insomnia twice per year in spring and fall because of the equinoxes. Last night I woke up at 2 AM and put on a movie and downed a bottle of wine to power through. That's not going to help your testosterone but I'm on TRT so I don't care. I've also used trazodone successfully but prescriptions are a pain to keep going and get into shrinks to get refills.

If you are awake get up and do something. Read, write, whatever. Try to wind down social media if not eliminate it. Meditation.
Lately I've been running off 4 hrs of sleep and an hour nap later in the day. It's annoying but I saw this 110 year old on TV say, "if I wake up, I get up and it don't bother me. Sometimes I might smoke a cigar, sometimes 10". Can't recommend cigars, they gave me bad anxiety.

I used to not be able to sleep, in fact I didn't have a dream for about 2-3 years.
Now I sleep like a baby.
First thing I did was wake up at the exact same time every day. That will put your circadian rhythm into a consistent cycle. Second thing is I train in the gym in the early hours of the morning. Third is cutting off caffeine about 8 hours at least before bed. It takes caffeine a lot longer to leave your system than you think. Fourth is de-compressing in whatever way I choose which usually doesn't involve technology, usually reading or journalling does the trick. Fifth is pre-planning your day ahead I use Microsofts 'To Do'. Knowing what you intend to do the following day, properly de-compressing, limiting caffeine, having a consistent circadian rhythm etc sets you up for a good nights sleep.
If you haven't read "Why we sleep" I recommend reading it.

Why we sleep is a great book, basically you need to look up "sleep hygiene" it's something doctors often use because they need to squeeze as much sleep as possible out of the few hours of free time they have.
Needless to say you should already be lifting, maintaining a good diet, and practicing stoicism. If not then you should start ASAP

I use melatonin. I've always had sleep issues. I'm also going to try mk-677 and see what that does for sleep. But mostly read something boring before you go to bed.

Hey bro I'm currently battling sleep problems aswell, I wake up feeling like I haven't slept. It's so bad that I feel better mentally when I don't go to sleep at night.
All these suggestions here are great and they might help you but if you have some sort of sleeping disorder they won't do much so go to your doctor and check it out that's what im doing aswell
