There is no socially acceptable age gap. Things you want to consider are things like women live 7 years longer than men, women go through menopause in their late 40s, women reach peak fertility around age 25, and women always date up. I was 22 banging a 44yr old cougar, 16 banging a 14yr old, 30 banging a 28yr old, etc. It depends what your goals are at the time. When I was 22 my SMV was low and all I wanted was to exchange bodily fluids so a cougar was a perfect match.
