Was doing really well with one girl but her friend pulled her away, it was just the two of them. I have a wing but he failed to occupy her. What’s the strategy for dealing with groups of two? It’s hard to isolate, what do?

This. Best thing to do is flirt and get her number, then pull away and set up a 1 on 1. Getting a better wingman is possible too but the first option is better because you don't have to rely on anyone. In the past I used to talk with the friend too, but it's a waste of time, just get the number and set up something later.
