At 5’8 144 you’re tiny. If anything I’d be upping the macros(and cardio). For context I’m 5’10 and maintain near enough to 225.
That said if you prefer being on the smaller side a good trick is to swap out the car for cycling. When I used to work, to help cutting I’d cycle Monday-Friday. Had my abs back in just under 8 months.
Godspeed and good luck!
UniversalFapture 4y ago
Thanks
MrNeurotypical 4y ago
Agreed. Cycling plus 30min circuit workouts took me down to 7% bf.
brianmcg321 4y ago
At 144lbs you don't have 10lbs to lose.
You need to up your calories and keep lifting.
UniversalFapture 4y ago
What do you mean
brianmcg321 4y ago
You don't have 10lbs to lose. Any lighter and you would start comparing yourself to a horse jockey.
Efficient_Film_149 4y ago
You’re 5’8” and 144 pounds. Try eating some fucking food/lifting heavy until you’re about 200 lbs. cut down to 180. You’re spinning your wheels dropping weight when there’s nothing to show.

You’re probably a lot leaner than you think, low bf with little muscle mass looks a lot different than low bf with significant muscle mass. You should probably be lean bulking.
UniversalFapture 4y ago
Yes i’m think so too
athrowaway-9001 4y ago
Focus on HITT exercises, your diet, drinking enough water (keep in mind of water weight), and changing up your exercises overall.
If you're trying to get strong fast-- bulking is the way.
If you're trying to get as much lean muscle mass-- cutting to a low body fat and then bulking is the way.
It all depends on your fitness goals and needs. There is an upside of cutting first and then bulking-- you naturally will have more testorone and build lean muscle mass a lot more efficiently relative to somebody that started bulking from the get go.
UniversalFapture 4y ago
I prefer to be lean.

Do nothing. Keep lifting. Your goal is to recomp your body. As you build muscle you will natrurally burn more fat. You are skinny fat because you have no muscle. You so t need to bulk, but just keep lifting. Also add 20-30 minutes of moderate cardio a day for health and some fat loss.
Accept that this doesn't happen overnight. You just started lifting and your wondering why you haven't reached your goals yet? Should be obvious.
WhichIndependent5060 4y ago
You need to bulk then cut, by bulking you increase your caloric requirements and your physical size, then cutting comes a lot more effective, quicker and easier, because you will require less cutting in order to achieve the same results. But if you're satisfied with your current muscular state, you need to find out your current caloric intake to maintain weight and eat around 500 calories less than that amount.
rahrahrudy 4y ago
Could be your calorie intake or maybe try adding in some cardio if you aren’t already.
InevitableWasabi69 4y ago
I’m 5’9, 155 with 12% bf the way you shred those last few pounds is same way you took off the first few pounds: staying in a caloric deficit. Keep your diet high protein, adjust your carb/fat intake so that you are in a slight caloric deficit compared to your BMR. This way you maintain muscle while taking off an extra 1-2 pounds of mostly fat a week.
UniversalFapture 4y ago
Def taking tons of protein! I don’t mess with sugar anymore
