Yes, it makes you retain water. Which is not a bad thing, just don't go overboard or you'll get that "puffy" look
AnabolLecter 7y ago
No. It does retain water but it'll not make you more fat and by fat I mean getting an increase in adipocytes.
moltenw 7y ago
Alright, that makes sense.
One thing I do want to ask about salty "snacks", for example chips. Other than them being useless calories etc, are they really bad then? I'm avoiding these things like plague at the moment, but unless I'm mistaken by the vibe of this thread, then there is practically nothing bad in snacks like those, right? The only thing I need to avoid is sugar then...
anal_coke 7y ago
No, you'll retain an extra couple pounds of water but you won't be any fatter

Salt is very important to your diet, its crazy how its made out to be the devil when its one of the best things for performance you can take in.
VasiliyZaitzev 7y ago
In the correct amount, not shaken out of a salt cellar like a snowstorm onto food like too many people do.
moltenw 7y ago
What is the correct amount if I may ask?
menial_optimist 7y ago
I think I remember its anywehre between 1000-2500mg per day.

Did the testing and it says I have %10 body fat. No way with the small belly that I’ve got, trainer says it’s water. How to get rid of it completely while working out?
SickBrains 7y ago
Fasting will work 100%
moltenw 7y ago
Can you "Fast" while remaining at the same weight? Let's say your daily calorie intake needs to be 2600 to remain at the same weight - can you get the 2600 calories in until 6PM, and then not eat until the next morning? (for example, until 7:30AM) ?

Would this impact your body fat % while at the same time, you wouldn't be losing weight?
patchyshawbo 7y ago
Fasting will impact your body fat, either in a minor or moderate way.
The fasting routine that I go by is feed between 2:30pm and 10pm
I lift 4 days a week, very little cardio. Don’t know my body fat percent but I’m very lean atm, prob 7-8%.
The fact that I eat a carnivore only diet has to do with my body fat % as well.
SalporinRP 7y ago
Makes you hold more water weight which can sometimes give you the appearance of being more "fat" but no it doesn't.
moltenw 7y ago
> Makes you hold more water weight

So basically... having no salt in your diet is actually bad then, right? If the goal is to look as aesthetically good as possible, then you wouldn't want to hold more water in. Also, I need to pee a lot more without a salt diet, which gets pretty annoying.

I noticed this a few weeks ago. A few months ago, I used to use 0 salt all day every day and drank min. 4 L of water daily. On some days even 6. Nowadays, I salt my food for a bit and I drink normal quantities of water. Just don't overuse it.

I swear to god, Steve.
Musicgoon 7y ago
No...
Ramp_Up_Then_Dump 7y ago
No. But try not to eat much salt.
goblinboglin 7y ago
no it doesn't
contrary to popular belief, having an enough sodium intake hydrates the muscle and helps you chase the pump in the gym you are after, water retaining from sodium is fucking minimal, seems like an urban legend to me, same as with all internet bro science
