Social anxiety is holding me back in life to a ridiculous extent. As an example, when I read about Machiavellianism for the first time, I realized I already had some of those traits as indicated by my way of thinking. Unfortunately, as I think back in life I now remember plenty of times when something I wanted to say was on the very tip of my tongue but the anxiety just could not allow it to come out.
I am pissed off at the amount of potential I have wasted so far and I want to kick social anxiety in the dick. How can I finally overcome it for good?

Confidence in your abilities is the biggest thing. If you are in great shape then social anxiety will be diminished.
Additionally, meditation is a cure for anxiety. Daily meditation for 8 weeks should give you a phenomenal reduction in anxiety.
One other thing I would add is to cut out porn and masturbation if you already haven’t. If you are serious about ridding yourself of anxiety try focusing on these things for the next three months and I guarantee you will see great results. They require a lot of discipline at first but can really make a difference.

I’d echo 1 and 3. 2 sounds like something I should also do.

Anything that requires discipline is worth doing.

How do I meditate?

Install “calm” on iPhone. Might be on android too. I started using it about two weeks ago. It has a few free courses, after which it’s £35 a year. I know it sounds like a lot but that’s the cost of one night out..but for a year. I thought it’s worth it.
There’s loads of other free resources though. Just google it.

There is a post on TRP from a week or two ago about meditation. Very insightful and I would recommend following that advice. For a quick guide:
You can sit however is comfortable. I sit indian style with my right hand overlapping my left. I then close my eyes and take a couple deep breaths and basically sit for a period of time just observing my breath. The sound, how it feels, etc. I like to set a timer and do it every morning and night.
You should look up the post though because it is much more in-depth and will give you a greater understanding on how to properly meditate.

“Appreciation is the antidote to anxiety”- Headspace App.
Go meditate, watch some YouTube videos on overcoming social anxiety- just enough to be educated on the topic- and then go out and face it.
With almost all types of anxiety, the solution is to lean in towards the thing giving you anxiety. Do you have approach anxiety? Well then the only solution is to approach until it doesn’t make you anxious. You need to create new memories with the thing making you anxious. Have public speaking anxiety? Take a public speaking class. Until you realize that there’s nothing to be anxious about and it’s familiar. A lot of anxiety comes from inexperience or bad experience. Create new experiences.

You think any motherfucker in the range of your voice is better than you?
If so, fix that first. Anxiety is a symptom of you believing in your own inferiority.
If not, why would you give a stinky post bachelor party Mexican tap water shit what any subordinate asshole thinks?
Realize you're the best man in the vicinity. Then there is absolutely nothing of concern.

Do you lift? Are you properly fatigued afterwards? Try giving a shit after a really intense workout
chachaChad 8y ago
Is social anxiety impacting your lifting?
imaginethegainz 8y ago
Nope. I am already lifting but I still have a long way to go

Take a class in public speaking. (e.g. community college)
Check into Toastmasters (never tried it, but it's in a bookmark folder of mine for reference).

I have tried NoFap before and my longest streak was about 25 days. I got discouraged and quit because I didn't see any benefits, but I'm not an addict. I can't tell if I just need to wait longer or someone like me can't get benefits from it.
foggydew42 8y ago
You won't see any benefits for 90-180 days. It will require a lot of discipline but if you are serious then you should stick with it.
