I spend way too much time studying and still I do mediocre on tests. It's very inefficient time spent and I panic out during tests. This time lost is interfering with my progress. I spend so much time hitting the books that I am missing out on uni life.
I'm in engineering and it's really difficult to even pass let alone get good grades AND have a social life. 85% of my time is spent studying and those few left over hours are spent working out or browsing the internet learning stuff.
Seriously does anyone have any suggestions for this?

This blog (http://www.wtfprofessor.com/blog/), has some really good stuff. The guy who writes the blog posts is an engineer as well, so I think it'll be well suited for you.
Hope it helps.

career > social life.
focus on your goal first. worry about social life later. if studying were that easy and take little time, every single person would be a doctor or engineer. study more and stop being an idiot. nothing you can do til you get your degree, besides maybe, picking up on some girls at school as you pass-by or study.

Best thing is to pay extreme attention in class always relating everything you learn to past experience and making the neural link stronger so pay attention in class and take note by just writing your summary of the class down

yep. good advise. learning through relating can be very helpful if you have a hard time with remembering the material. just have to associate the new information with things you already like/know about.

hey man, i work full time, monday through friday. it might be a little more challenging during the week, but you can still do it.
even with my buddies, who have different work schedules, we still find time to hang out and do things. because the fact of the matter is, when people want to be social with others, they MAKE time. that doesnt mean going clubbing every single night. pick a night or two a week, go spend a few hours with some friends, no big deal. you can skip a work out ONE day a week, it wont hurt you. and surely, you can still workout BEFORE the day job, to leave yourself time afterwards.
yea, if you are working 80+ hours a week, its going to be extremely difficult, especially with exhaustion. but, you have to find the happy medium. i am working 40 hours a week and still have time for social settings with friends, girlfriend and my hobbies on the weekends.

Change majors.

Either change majors or study harder. I started off as a computer science major and was in your shoes. Studied my ass off but was still doing mediocre. Eventually I got tired of not having a social life so I changed majors.
Now this hurt me later in life, but I turned it around when I went back to grad school to get a better career.
All those people you see partying all the time, trust me, they are going to end up in retail or selling cars after school. Those are the kids that will be crying about how much debt they are in how college was a huge waste of time. Those are the kids that will be crying about why they can't find a job. And I know way too many of them.
Unless they are geniuses who don't need to study and can pass just cause.
Now maybe you have some bad study skills or something, so I strongly suggest joining a study group or getting a tutor. But honestly maybe the major isn't for you.
If I could go back in time, I'd sacrifice some of my social life in college for a better degree. Because trust me, social life after college is Faaaar better then college.

It's why I never studied except for a good cram session the night before.
You don't go full in until you need to.
