"I find you attractive." If you can hold eye contact (I stare into left pupil) while you say it, you'll do great. Something tells me y'all are texting or IM'ing though at this point, but you can state the same thing it just won't make her panties as wet.
Don't add anything else like "I find you attractive and heard you didn't have a date." I think being direct and brief is the perfect response in this scenario.

Anyways, you just have to gauge the situation and the type of girl she is. If she kept asking why I chose her, I would have said something along the lines of "This offer is up if you ask anymore dumb questions" or if she's insanely hot, "Because you're ugly looking and in contrast you'll make me look good". Said with a smug face of course.

Usually I give backhanded compliments or playfully insult whatever they are fishing for a compliment about. Most of them pick up pretty quickly that I'll compliment them when I want not when they ask for one or give me one.
