Last night I was downtown with a friend bar hopping when I got a text from a plate saying I should come to the club she was at. It was close by but I wasn't down to pay for cover or leave because I was having a good time.
Later, she tells me she's going home and I ask her what her plans are. She says she's going to go to sleep unless I come over. Then she says 'only if you want to though'. I told her I can get dropped off at her place but she'll have to give me a ride home the next morning. She then replied 'Yeah if you want', then 'I can drop you. It's up to you though'.
Is she just trying to act indifferent for plausible deniability? Does this happen often to you guys?
Ultimately I didn't want to sound desperate as I had things to do the next day anyways. Also, didn't want to ditch my friend so I passed and told her I'll catch her next time. Just new to everything so I'm curious if this is a common occurrence.

Shes acting indifferent, possibly so she doesn't come accross as clingy. She obviously wants you to comeover, but doesn't want to sound to desperate herself. You can tell with how she constantly adds "If you want". The invitation shows she wants you, the "If you want" is her not wanting to come on too strong.
Shes basically just playing it cool, and you should just let it be. Shes interested and its no big deal man.

Indifference is no response. Or not offering to meet you at all.
