If you haven't heard by now, Pokemon Go is quickly becoming a worldwide phenomenon. It's one of the first games in history that actually connects people socially in real space rather than digitally, so there's a lot of potential here for meeting women or just making new friends.
I have younger family who started playing it the moment it came out, and some of my younger friends and I went for a bar crawl the other night and EVERYONE was playing it, my friends and I included. Before long we were meeting women left, right, and center and the impact of this little game was not lost on me from a TRP perspective.
I strongly recommend installing the app and finding a Pokestop or 2 near a bar or some other venues you like. Drop a Lure and just hang out playing the game and enjoy yourself as people start to arrive. You're going to meet a TON of women, likely surrounded by very weak, young, nerdy guys, and approaching them is as easy as pie. All of the hard work, such as breaking the ice, is already done for you. All you have to do is show up and spit your favorite day game.
Lastly, holy shit the quantity and quality of women this game will put you into contact with is astounding. I was debating even posting this thread so I'd have them for myself and to keep this under the radar, but it's too good not to share. Plus the general social impact this game is having is unparalleled. Forget the mental picture you might have of the people who play this, because it's going to be wrong. More people installed this game 1 week than have installed Tinder in the entire 5 years it's existed! That's translating to men and women of all ages from kids to the elderly playing this on the regular. This isn't your standard pimply faced nerd game. Oh no, this is big, so big you'd be a fool not to leverage it to its full potential.
Gotta catch 'em all indeed! Just be sure to wrap it up so you don't, you know, actually catch 'em all.
[deleted] 8y ago
Thanks for this thread. I had this idea when the game first came out but was worried I'd end up in jail as a child molester. Good to know it's mostly people my age playing. Some bitch stole my entire card binder in 6th grade. Time to fucking catch em all again.

How many of these girls were legit fans if the show or games before this app though ? I want to weed out the fake gamer girls.
Dr_HoaxArthurWilmoth 9y ago
This sounds like an ad.
It reeks of "viral marketing".
Transmigratory 9y ago
"Pokemon Go?" is an amazing ice breaker with this.
panopticake 9y ago
This seems great. The girls that normally don't venture out much now do.
Dl'ed it today and took a 4km walk with a plate, its was 4pm afternoon in not-so-busy residential and park areas. Saw around 25-30pokemons, 5-6 dudes playing and 2 girls playing. One of the girls opened us, "are you playing? i saw X-type was around here".
I can see on the map that the downtown park is filled with blinking shit i assume to be lures. Will check that out tomorrow. Also planning on parking my ass w/ lure at some hot coffeshop where you sit outside.
Transmigratory 9y ago
I was just about to piss away all the lure modules I have till I read this post.
Take advantage of this trend while it is strong.
PedroIsWatching 9y ago
As a UX designer, I installed the game primarily to check out the interface since millions of people are going to be using it and it could influence future trends. I found the actual gameplay incredibly shallow, and I was planning to uninstall until yesterday.
I took a walk along a paved trail near the river in my city, and literally everyone that had their phone out (at least 50 people over the course of an afternoon) was using the app. Later that evening I passed a spot where someone had dropped a lure and sure enough there was a group of 6-8 people that had gathered there, just like the OP describes.
Every time I would run into someone that was using the app, there was an immediate connection like we were members of a secret club or some shit. Running into a cute chick using the app was like having an instant ice-breaker.
Also, I have not seen any stereotypical "gamers" using the app. It's only been fairly thin and attractive people. Possibly because it's very hot in my city but also due to the physical requirements the game has - if you don't physically walk, your character doesn't walk. I've seriously walked 20 extra miles over the past 4 days, purely from playing the game. I've also seen no one younger than 19 playing it.
I went walking on my lunch hour today, and it was the same deal. Every college age person was using the app. I got the number of a cute HB8 by asking her where a Kingler I was looking for was. I've gotten numerous FB adds from other dudes with shared interests that I met playing GO - running the gamut from fellow lifters to business investors.
Nintendo has really struck a cord here with 18-28 year-olds, people. I don't think it's going to last once it gets too cold to walk around outside, but in the meantime if you're looking to meet new people or talk to girls, there are a hell of a lot worse ways than this.
bsutansalt 9y ago
BINGO! It's an instant commonality and you already have something to talk about. "Catch anything good?" is all it takes.
It's a running joke in our community that Steve Jobs is the world's greatest cockblock for inventing the smartphone because of how disconnected it's made people in bars and clubs. This game single-handedly undoes that.

Perhaps I'm out of touch and I suppose it is somehow possible to pick up a woman with this but how about not? Just think of someone you admire or respect, maybe not quite an "idol" but someone you at least admire and/or look up to....a man who exists today or at least recently. Would HE play Pokemon Go? Dicking around with bullshit like this also seems intrinsically opposed to what this subreddit (i think) promotes: physical health and fitness, knowledge through reading, mastery of emotions and mind and the lifelong journey of emotional (and/or spiritual if you prefer) growth. Doesn't seem masculine or productive. Seems like a waste of time. Kid shit.
StoicCrane 9y ago
You more or lessed voiced my thoughts and I grew up with this franchise. It's a money grab aimed at millenials since they're beginning to enter the workforce particularly college graduates.
The app features the first Generation of pocket monsters the Generation I grew with. I'm in my mid-20s. Nintendo has an agenda in mind. People around my age who are enticed by this are going to wind up wasting alot of money on microtransactions and alot of time instead of developing Masculine Polarity. It's a Beta trap disguised as social networking.
Eyeswears 9y ago
That was what I thought. The voice of OP seems completely out of line with the voice I'm used to hearing in this thread. It's so lacking in any skepticism and criticism whatsoever to the point of being sycophantic. Sounds like a paid marketer trying to infiltrate one of the most notoriously rigid communities to me. Or we could both be out of touch. But I think I'll spend my time in the real world. Nice try, though, Nintendo.
Canadaismyhat 9y ago
Things like this make me not want to read red pill content. That's a delusional line of thinking and it's concerning it was upvoted to +9. 10 million users and you think they've dispatched a marketing team to infiltrate the red pill sub? Bro, are you serious? I'm active on Reddit and have been active in the pua community for a decade and I barely know what TRP is.
I was out fishing today and talked to a handful of sets walking around a usually empty park without trying to. I don't even know what the game is and it made it easy for me! You would definitely have to be retarded not to realize hey, a metric fuckload of women are standing outside, kinda bored, and holding their phones. This could be useful.
inmemorieswetrust 9y ago
Pokemon Go does expose you to real world. That's the whole point! :D
bsutansalt 9y ago
I never got on the Nindendo/Pokemon hype train, but my boy loves that stuff getting all the different games for the DS. I installed it and by happenstance found that Pokestop with the lures and by god there were a lot of 18-22 year old women all over the place. When I saw that and experienced the social aspect during the bar crawl, I'm all in with leveraging it for all its worth for however long it lasts.

I'm really glad TRP is seeing the value in this instead of putting it down for being a video game about Pokemon. This is seriously a great opportunity to bring people together and meet new people. TRP rookies, this is a great place to start!

Yep, I thought exactly that. It seems like an awesome tool for pickup, since it both provides a place with a high concentration of people and a conversation starter.

PedroIsWatching 9y ago

bsutansalt 9y ago
I'm guessing he means a group chat via facebook messenger. It's what I was going to do so I can keep tabs with the people I've been meeting through the game.
Darkone06 9y ago
Just a chat on Facebook revolving around Pokemon. Just a play on the word.
whats_the_deal22 9y ago
I'm still trying to figure out how this game works. Doesn't seem to have much interactivity with other players. How has this led to meeting girls for you?
ChrisBenRoy 9y ago
Real world locations are used in the game as places to collect items or 'control' via battling the ones the catch and train. Thus, people have to physically go to these locations to do so.
bsutansalt 9y ago
Drop a Lure on a Pokestop in an area with a lot of foot traffic and watch the people pour in.
PUSSIES_WILLBE_RAPED 9y ago
What does a lure do?
Darkone06 9y ago
From my experience it lures more people than Pokemon, it is supposed to be an area that had an increased of Pokemon appearance.
bsutansalt 9y ago
Completely agree, and it's a good thing too.
We're also talking to venues in my area about incentivizing dropping Lures around bars and whatnot to get specials. It's already starting to happen around the country, but not everyone has caught on yet.
It's just fascinating to me that this game is so popular (and it's only just begun) that bars and restaurants are already starting to cater to the crowds it draws.

PUSSIES_WILLBE_RAPED 9y ago
Thanks for the response, but this reply is absolutely worthless in helping me understand anything.
Fedora_Tipper_ 9y ago
Lol I'll simply it even more. It makes multiple Pokemon pop at a specific location than the usual rate. Other people see that and then youve got lots of new faces to mingle with
bsutansalt 9y ago
Did you not read the link I posted above? You drop a Lure on a Pokestop and it's supposed to make more pokemon come to that vicinity so you can catch them in-game. Lures also allow everyone else in the area to share in the increased Pokemon appearance. This ends up making areas with active Lures hot spots for people to congregate to, which is where you meet the most women.
PUSSIES_WILLBE_RAPED 9y ago
I thought you explained it well. I was just pointing out that that a lure "Brings Pokemon to a stop for 30 min" only serves to confuse, and adds nothing. I thought he meant it stops the game for 30 minutes.
need_cake 9y ago

Pokémon Go is a trap! Nintendo is very crafty in terms of marketing. They know Generation one Pokémon fans are in or around their near 20s. Many which are college graduates and most are entering the workforce. It's a well devised scheme to make a quick money grab by playing off of childish nostalgia under the guise of social networking.
Anyone who plays this is going to wind up wasting alot of time and alot of money in microtransaction. Time that can be used to lift, read, engage in useful hobbies, and develop Masculine Polarity. Coming from a former Gen 1& 2 Pokémon player and a man who studies the effects of mobile game designs that induce addiction and rampant spending this is a Blue Pil Trap! You numbnuts are falling in it head over heels!
[deleted] 9y ago
The game isn't actually all that great. It's a fad that will die down. The paradigm is here to stay, but don't be surprised if you can't meet as many people playing these types of games in the coming weeks/years as you can at this moment.

bsutansalt 9y ago
I have younger family that turned me on to it and then some drinking buddies hit me up and we bar crawled while playing it the other night. It didn't take long before I realize the potential for this from a TRP perspective.
PaperStreetVilla 9y ago
yes 99.9% of the sub glossed over the approaching women part, and are still talking pokemon.
legion327 9y ago
Can confirm. A buddy and I did this in the middle of the square in our downtown area on Saturday. Dropped lures on two side-by-side pokestops with a pokegym situated within range as well. It was just us there when we started. Within 20 minutes, over 40 people had shown up with about a 50/50 M/F ratio. We chatted up several of the women. The social engineering aspect of this game is amazing. We even found it incredibly easy to chat with them because the icebreaker is already there. You see them walk up with their phone out and immediately can ask what team they're on, etc. etc. You instantly have something in common.
We later went to lunch at a nearby BBQ joint that had a pokestop next door. Spoke to the owner who said he had been dropping lures on his place all day and had done at least twice the business of previous lunchtimes on Saturdays. This is a cultural phenomenon at this point.
edit: grammar

Not to mention the 10+ miles we walked, dozens of local landmarks and historical sites we discovered, and the two new restaurants and an awesome local Australian bakery we found. Overall, a really great weekend with a good buddy that I haven't spent good quality time with in a long time. If you'd told me I'd get all that out of a stupid mobile game as recently as last week, I'd have laughed at you.
bsutansalt 9y ago
Same here. Also, "Pokemon leg" is now a thing. All these kids who haven't been physically active most of their lives are now complaining via social media about how sore their legs are. This is a net win for society, if a bit sad that kids are getting sore from just walking. Still, gotta start somewhere.
legion327 9y ago
100% agree. There's already a sub called pokemongofitness, which is a testament to how positive this is for all of us as a whole. Personally, this is the first pokemon game I've played as it was never the kind of thing that interested me when I was younger, though I know it was really popular then. However, the sheer number of benefits are too good to be ignored. The only downside I've seen so far is an increase in traffic accidents. I can't definitively say that the large number of accidents I saw this weekend was related to POGO's release but... let's just call it a hunch.

CQC3 9y ago
The social aspect of gaming has always been the draw in the past 10 years. It's only now that people are starting to see it in tangible forms. I'm a bit disappointed because gaming gets shit on by so many shortsighted people on TRP. Understandably this has some obvious benefits (pokemon go) compared to plopping down all day in front of a screen, but when something like this comes along everyone is all on board acting like they haven't been calling it the devil all along.
But I get it, it either gives a benefit now or fuck it in terms of efficiency, but as someone who has been following gaming culturally for most of my life it's really cool to see this transition. Gaming is the future IMO, in ways people are beginning to see. Reality and fictional spaces are merging in some good and bad ways, and have been for years now. Fascinating stuff.
CurtisAxelmania 9y ago
Do you even fight the pokemon you catch? For all its social.aspects these seem less like games more like click bait. It makes me think of someone perceiving Wii Boxing as a better fighting game that Killer Instinct.

He probably slept with both of them. It's not uncommon to sleep with a girl you meet the same day.
EDIT: I see what you mean. I disagree, I think sleeping with her once and seeing that she's hooked is enough to say she's a plate.
corsega 9y ago
I'm quite familiar with single-day lays. I'm calling bullshit on the fact that /u/Synzael met two girls in two days playing POKEMON GO and hooked both of them hard enough to call them "plates".
Also, the word "plate" is just incredibly misused on this subreddit in general.
Synzael 9y ago
I agree man. Appreciate you making the distinction while I do think both girls qualify as plates unless they flake the next time we are supposed to fuck
Orig_analUse_rname 9y ago
Exactly. Let's not get to crazy/lazy here folks. A plate is a girl that you invest almost zero effort in but can lay regularly, not once.
naMlliPdeR 9y ago
I agree with you. But very little is accomplished by calling people out on it, especially when they gave no details. Either take their word for it, or ignore it. It's probably one of the reasons we have endorsed contributors, who's words you give more weight to.
But again, even if they're not being honest, calling them out won't get them to admit to it, so it serves no purpose other than to start a pointless argument.
It's how I treat online conversation. If there's no reason within the post to doubt what they said other than an ad hominem "I doubt he could pull chicks that fast, never even heard of this guy", why bother responding?

I took over the gym at the Space Needle for a good 20 minutes with a Pidgeot named "Trump 2016". Hope I triggered Seattle SJWs by doing so.
Anyway, its a fun game. Don't think that because its Pokemon, that its for kids, or for nerds, and by playing it, you will be seen as one.
Pokemon was really, really big when I was in 5th/6th grade. Everyone liked it and I mean everyone. The last bastion of our childhood, right before we became teenagers. Of course once we got into middle school and started turning 13 everyone started to hate Pokemon and trash it because it was "for kids". But myself, while I trashed Pokemon with my friends, I secretly continued to like it and play it. I still buy all the games to this day. I guarantee I wasn't the only closet Pokemon fan all through high school and college. That's why I think this game is catching on, its popularity is giving people an excuse to drop the charade for hating Pokemon because its for kids, and allowing people to reconnect with their childhood and nostalgia.
OP is right. I thought it would just be a bunch of nerdy rainbow dyed haired thick frame triggered glasses feminists playing it. While I have seen plenty of them playing it, I have seen a lot of non-geeky or non-SJW/feminist looking HBs playing it as well.

I just moved to Seattle and it really is just swarming with SJWs holy shit. Can you give me some tips on some of the best places to meet women?
TheYoungPatriarch 9y ago
Seattle is great if your okay hitting on tourists and foreigners. Also the talent around UW campus is palpable. The best bar i've seen is in Belltown called Ambèr and another across the street called Osaka.
RedditAdminsSuck_88 9y ago
There are hot women, sure. In your normal places like bars and such.
The difference from where I am from, Texas, is that in Texas you can walk into a bar and spot 20 women worth banging within the first 30 seconds of walking in.
In Seattle, you might spot 2 or 3.
The ratio of hot-not hot is much worse in Seattle. Hell, even Iowa, another place I have lived, had a better ratio.
Okla_dept_of_tourism 9y ago
Prarie Bomb! a beer brewed in Oklahoma is consistantly rated one of the best beers in the country. Shiner Bock, brewed in Texas, is one of the worst
PedroIsWatching 9y ago
I'm from large midwestern city, and I guess it sucks here because when I visited Seattle to see my sister I was struck by how many attractive people there were and how there seemed to be so few obese people, especially compared to home. There was just this health-conscious attitude that there that really gelled with me.
RedditAdminsSuck_88 9y ago
I used to live in Iowa, there are exponentially more attractive women in Iowa than in Seattle and its not even close.
I have no idea what you are smoking if you think there are more attractive women in Seattle. Unless rainbow haired feminists with tattoos and triggered glasses is your thing.
There are obese people here, you just are not looking hard enough. No more or less than Iowa or Texas. There are also a shit load of skinny fats. I view skinny fats as WORSE than obese. Skinny fats are at higher risk of health problems than obese people are. I have pity for obese people, but I despise skinny fats. They have all the health risks associated with being fat, and yet think they are healthy.
There is no health concious attitude here. It's just skinny fats who think they are healthy because they aren't a bed ridden 600 pound whale.

I tried "Pokemon Go and chill?" yesterday on Tinder, It was super effective!
Doc_redpill 9y ago
This comment made me laugh and cringe ... So here have a point haha.
ChrisBenRoy 9y ago
This is somewhat a trend, but it's completely amazing and incredible if this is the direction gaming is going. The fact that it uses the real world as it's playing arena is amazing, and really is the future. Imagine and MMO where instead of sitting in a chair in front of a computer to go on a quest or something, you have to go somewhere on earth to do so. That's completely incredible to me.
Drive anywhere around a decently large city or town and you see flocks of people outside playing this game, however, wonder how that will change in the winter time or places where it's ball shrinking cold.
rebuildingMyself 9y ago
Oh expect a lot of go-killer apps to come out very soon with this idea in mind.

CQC3 9y ago
Minor incidents. I'm just hoping some story of some girl getting abducted while playing Go doesn't break out because that's going to make approaching a bit more awkward as all these people are going to get a bit paranoid and defensive for no reason.
StarDestinyGuy 9y ago
A truly innovative experience!

A dozen people were actually robbed playing it when a few guys lured them to a Secluded area using a Poke-stop. So that happened
bebopdebs 9y ago
im pretty sure that would happen if more people were out of their house in general. Are we all just going to live in a fucking cave and be scared of the world around us? wtf type of redpiller are you?
p3n1x 9y ago
That is not a new idea. Its like saying World of Warcraft was the first MMORPG. Pokemon branded better and simplified what the predecessors had done.
[deleted] 9y ago
It's not a new concept. Ingress was the first one I believe
based_judge 9y ago
You know Pokemon Go is made by the same company that did Ingress right?
Nogoodsense 9y ago
the first game-ified one was ingress, yes, run by the same comany that doesn PoGo.
before all of this was Geocaching, though, which was around before even smart phones.
focuses on wilderness treks and treasure-hunting aspects. so it:s more of an outdoors-y thing.
TakeruDavis 9y ago
And let's not forget Munzee. Less know geocaching-like game where you scan QR codes instead of digging for dirty boxes :D
[deleted]
Nogoodsense 9y ago
another benefit of the PoGo experience is that the key spots are usually culturally/historically/artistically significant. do some reading up on the ones around you before heading out. it's conversation starters that even a brain-dead person could navigate.
winter will bring in the era of pokedriving. guarantee it.
bsutansalt 9y ago
Yup. As I stated elsewhere in the thread, I've learned more about my area in the past couple days than I did in the 10 years I've lived here.
greatslyfer 9y ago
Nah imo this is somewhat specific to Pokemon since one of the main premises of the game is SEARCHING and CATCHING a creature.
Pokemons most popular phrase is "Gotta catch em all", so people are mainly anchored by their love of the show and its ability to become a part of people's actual lives.
I highly doubt that games such as WOW or MMOs translate well in real life games. I mean it's not a basic premise in those games to SEARCH and CATCH creatures so the awesome challenge is not existent. In fact, I fucking hate travelling very long distances in those games, let alone real life distances.
Japhysiva 9y ago
Whatever, can you imagine a final fantasy or zelda competitor, could be incredible, even skyrim could do something like it. Or DnD, WOW, etc you could set up your own dungeons and others could come conquer them, etc. this is just the beginning of real augmented reality gaming. We will look back and laugh at how simple it was and that everyone played it
Kingoffistycuffs 9y ago
I think that most people think the show is garbage and that team rocket are the only good characters. The games are what bridge generations together for there consistent quality and playability. Can't believe they swapped turn based combat for the gay ass swiping thing though. That sucks.
[deleted]
greatslyfer 9y ago
Yea that's the weird thing about the combat, don't know why they did that.
ImperialDoor 9y ago
This isn't the first game to do this. This real world arena thing has been around since there were smart phones.
JihadDerp 9y ago
What other games? I haven't heard of any until Pokémon go. I was thinking a bunch of other game developers would jump on the real world concept asap though.
dpape39 9y ago
Ingress was released years ago, developed by the same studio as Pokemon Go and served as a foundation for it. Other than that though I don't know any mobile AR games either
CQC3 9y ago
As another commenter said, Ingress is the foundation for many of the portals in the game that are tied to IRL locations. I know the head devs of Niantic have their credentials in working on Google Maps since it's inception, so that is a big reason why this works so well.
Another reason is that Pokemon was and still IS a cultural phenomenon, but I'm having serious flashbacks with GO from when the OG pokemon came to the west from Japan, that's the level of impact I'm feeling atm which is nostalgic as fuck.
The only reason this game is working as it is, is because everyone is on board, most people remember pokemon, it is iconic. You're not just catching some shit mouse on another app, you're catching a Pikachu. People remember.
UniversalFapture 9y ago
Man how awesome would this be if they had a Dragon Ball Z version of this game ?
JihadDerp 9y ago
All I've been catching is ratatatata and podgeon. Where's the good shit?
[deleted]
ImperialDoor 9y ago
Turf Wars and here are some more.
Pokemon GO is sorta late.
JihadDerp 9y ago
So basically what this concept was missing was the established name of Pokémon? Or Pokémon was missing the expanded ui? I'm very curious about this breakthrough

NaughtyFred 9y ago
I see this working for 2 groups:
Established pua/rp's looking for a novel game scenario to get girls, as opposed to bar/street etc pickups.
For inbetweeners like myself it's pretty meh in terms of usefulness or appeal. Still a fun read though.
[deleted] 9y ago
I always find myself at a strategic loss with shit like this. It's like GoT. I don't watch TV. but I miss out on a lot of opportunities to open because I lack a shared experience with half the fucking country. I have ZERO interest in trekking around chasing cartoon animals, yet I keep hearing that the networking aspect is off the charts.
NaughtyFred 9y ago
You need 2 things:
A funny ending to the phrase "The only thing I know about (thing you know nothing about it) is..."
RPFlame 9y ago
You can play off your ignorance as a plus.
"The only thing I know about Pokemon is that yellow rat" and the girls that are interested in you will fight tooth and nail to make you learn more.

trpjnf 9y ago
Gonna go ahead and play devil's advocate here. I haven't downloaded the game. Not a Pokemon hater by any means, I (still) own at least one game from every generation. But to me, this seems like a perfect storm that's gonna die down soon.
Combining the good weather, the nostalgia value, the fact that it's "cool" to play the game, the newness factor and the social aspect, you've got an incredible product. But as soon as those first four wear off, the fifth evaporates with it. Not by any means saying don't try and take advantage right now; certainly, strike while the iron is hot. But don't expect to be having the same success come October/November.
Nogoodsense 9y ago
yeah winter is going to be a big wet blanket on this whole phenomenon. Niantic/Nintendo need to be very careful with pacing of new content to keep people interested.
bsutansalt 9y ago
I fully expect it will. Right now is the time to act though while the getting is good.
trpjnf 9y ago
For sure. Just wanted to point out that guys have to be realistic about how this will play out.
spacecase89 9y ago
It will definitely get boring like every pokemon game. They need to do something completely new to get it to stick. Im thinking theyre gonna have to strengthen the social aspect. You want people to go on raids together like WoW
bsutansalt 9y ago
It's coming. Apparently they're planning a big NYE event in NYC where people will have to work together to take on Mewtwo. Events like that were you've got thousands of people playing together has the potential to be awesome or aweful, depending on how the logistics are coordinated.
There's a 1500+ person event in DC on July 30th at the National Monument I'll be going to. I flipped through the "going" list looking at the women. Holy crap the women are hot by and large. Some fuglies, sure, but tons of hot women are RSVP'd as going, may of whom I know from my promoter days so they're not just fake accounts spamming the event to generate more interest.

Apart from some of the fictional field reports, I've never seen honesty on the scale of what I've seen on RP, your post especially. It's refreshing. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before some of those phone numbers lead to more plates.

It's important to Game them only IRL. They usually have a ton of orbiters on social media/twitch/Steam as they spend most of their free time online. Adding them on social media will instantly drag you into their orbit. Use only text messages to set up meetings.
vengefully_yours 9y ago
I have a 19 yo who is "offended" I won't friend her. Yet every time she hears me show up online, she cheerfully says hiiiiiiii... Yeah, unless I decide I want her out of my view, she won't get added. Besides all I use Facebook for its car shit. Zero pics of me, only my cars and my dogs, only family and car contacts as friends.
wont_tell_i_refuse_ 9y ago

JihadDerp 9y ago
This x7. Also don't forget to hit up real gyms (as opposed to Pokémon gyms) so you physically stand out from the orbiters.
[deleted] 9y ago
IMO Game is actually a thing that will make you stand out from other guys.
This Pokemon thing is good ice breaker, takes away awkwardness that cold approaches usually create, but it is also a trap that can land you into friendzone if it's the only topic you discuss with a girl.
dareealmvp 9y ago
'Friend zone' is underrated. Can give you good preselection and help expand your social circles.
[deleted] 9y ago
After moving to a new city recently, friend zone doesn't sound bad. I need to expand my network.
CurtisAxelmania 9y ago

No joke. I was able to open a group of 5 people (only one guy there) with little resistance compared to normal day gaming, it's like day gaming on easy mode because this whole socially awkward generation now has an excuse to socialize (as if we ever needed one). bsutansalt 9y ago
How many numbers of women up to 21 years younger than you did you get the other night? Hmm?
CQC3 9y ago
What sort of places have you been going to? I've tried a few places and opened some groups which was really fun in general, but I noticed most of the girls I'm running into seem like at best they may be 18 or 19 which is a tricky field to navigate because if you're wrong well...yeah.
bsutansalt 9y ago
There's a plaza next to one of the community colleges that has 6 pokestops next to it, 3 of which you can access at once if you sit in the middle, so it's always packed with 200-300 people from teens on to people in their 40s. It's been like this since Saturday all day and night. People who I talked to said it doesn't die down until 3am.
Another area I go to is a couple towns over that has the best bar crawl around and is smack dab in the middle of a historcial area, so it too has about a dozen Pokestops and 4 gyms sprinkled throughout. One of the bars has 2 stops and a gym inside, so we sat there drinking the other night talking to women inside and out. That's where I got all the numbers and facebook adds.

Note the shaming attempts.
'Creep'
'only loosers say stuff like that'
You're still a dark shade of blue friend.
[deleted] 9y ago
im not trying to shame him, i just think hes being a fuckwit
Organicdancemonkey- 9y ago
So you called him a creep and a looser to shame him into behaving in a way which you deem to be appropriate. A common tactic for those still stuck seeing the world through the blue lense is to attempt to police behaviors with buzzwords. 'Creep' is a great one for men as no guy wants to be the creep.
The man above you was shaming the guy who now has deleted his post. Why? Maybe in part to make himself feel good, but more likely to shame him into pushing himself, to push that weak minded attitude out of him.
You let your fee fees get in the way and attempted to shame with lame buzzwords the shaming which should motive him to cut that weak attitude out and go for it. He's a man, he should be able to take it.
[deleted] 9y ago
Thnks for the wordwordwordwordwordwords of wisdom. I never called him a looser. Just called him out for being a punk. "fee fees"!? LOL way to speak like an absolute internet pussy. Try getting off the internet, calling me a darker shade of blue, i wonder if you have ever been outside to get any colour at all? The only internet police i see in thgis thread is you, like a fucking goon, writing up a report on what you think happened. fuck off.
atlastrabeler 9y ago
Im not sure about you guys, but i get mad pussy. From my wife. Its pretty rad. Though women are bitches, yada yada (true story)
Organicdancemonkey- 9y ago
Coming from one who didn't and likely still doesnt understand what shaming is I'm not suprised you feel the need to lash out so. Funny how you go from telling one they are a creep to another admonishing another yet you pretend you are not policing. Your kind is usually rife with hypocrisies, such is what happens with the fee fees is hurt, but hey, I guess if you're *trying to contribute that's all which matters... right?
i_forget_my_userids 9y ago

It's interesting to see a real turn in gaming and see it brought into real time social environments. Nintendo's really onto something. Personally I grew out of Pokemon and got more into Magic The Gathering and D&D for gaming stuff, but grew out of that too.
If they had a game with a similar engine but a fantasy RPG like Elder Scrolls or WOW where you can create a character and go on adventures, I would soooo be all about that.
pedler 9y ago
That's pretty funny, I was thinking since I installed this game it's distracted me from approaching women.
Maybe it's because it hasn't been released in my country yet, but I haven't run into anybody playing it. Obviously I know other people are because they are taking over the gyms.
I think video games are generally a turn-off. I don't think this is really an exception, it's not going to help your SMV, but I guess it may not hurt either depending on the girl.

Pokemon go is gay and so is anyone who plays it
NightwingTRP 9y ago
I saw this at the weekend. My main plate is obsessed with this game. As we went out to get some food, we passed another couple. I swapped looks with the guy because both our women were looking at their phones. It was a look that said "seriously, these women are in their 20s." It's amazing how women flock towards any fad and trend instantly. The women in their 20s now really are the most worthless women we've ever had on this planet.
leftenant_t 9y ago
Is this sarcasm or for real?
[deleted] 9y ago
I wondered to. This is getting ridicolous
Eyes_Of_The_Dragon 9y ago
A plate has the game. Yes, it is insanely popular. We drove through a local college campus and I saw nothing but women about age 20 playing it last night, and many people playing it in parks and near landmarks. There was even a spot inside a Taco Bell.
ghengiscock 9y ago
That's what most of these old guys don't get. A lot of chicks 18-24 grew up on Pokemon and love it as much as the guys. Not surprising in the least to see these girls riding the trend.
tallwheel 9y ago
OK. You just convinced me to install this. It's not available yet in my region, so it will be interesting to see what kind of people I meet who are savvy enough to install a game without using the playstore or app store (probably nerds). Heh. Maybe I will try it again after it has been officially released here. :)
[EDIT: Oh crap. After playing past the first catch, the map is empty. Googling tells me that this is what happens when you try to use the game in a region where it hasn't been officially released yet. Oh well. Guess I'll wait.]

Porn's no good but films and games are an artform and should be respected. Just because some people abuse them and let them consume their lives doesn't mean you or I have to. well that's wild speculation if i ever saw it.
there is very little reason why they would let players sell in-game items for IRL cash. all sorts of legal problems with that.
They will add TRADING pokemon between players, though.

Yeah and you will be able to be motivated by cash in order to trade .
They never had an official way to sell cards yet people resold them save with the original games. When I was in school I would sell the Pokemon that would only evolved from trading since I was the only one with the cable.
You might not be able to do it online but nothing stops you in the real world.

This is becoming a worldwide phenomenon I wish I could be a part of but can't bring myself to go back to. Ever since I saw all the hours I logged into Steam Games, I added it all up and realized I'd been leveling up monsters and characters (pixels on a screen), while giving money to developers that are getting rich off of our time and in game purchases.
This is an awesome idea, but I'll stick treating my life like an RPG on hard mode ;)
But I'll leave with this:
"Wild plate appeared!" "Chad used Pokemon Go!" "It's Super Effective!"
[deleted] 9y ago
Same. Im legitimately curious and want to try the game out, but gaming just bores me and I dont have much interest. Might be fun to try out just to meet some new people though.
PedroIsWatching 9y ago
If you live in a densely populated area you don't have to spend money at all. There are plentiful PokeStops (where you get free supplies on a timed basis) so unless you get super into it you don't have to buy anything (yet, that will probably change in a few months.)
But yeah, it sort of a waste of time. If I wasn't meeting people with it I wouldn't even bother.
[deleted]
Seoul_Brother 9y ago
True, but I've spent too much time on video games in my teens/early twenties. All those logged hours into leveling up something or playing some game technically are zero sum and no matter how leveled up I get in it, I personally won't benefit from it long run and will have wasted all that time. Most mobile games have a fun factor for a couple of days to a couple of months even, but once it's over, it's over.
I wouldn't derive much utility from knowing that simple fact about video games. I also logged like 500 hours in Skyrim and those are hours I'll never get back.
For me personally, it's better to level up my career, body, health, etc. (because I also know that if I play a game, I'll undoubtedly get super into it).
I can definitely see using Pokemon Go as a way to plate nostalgic/ nerdy girls though. All my friends and their mothers are playing this so it's bound to reel in some success stories.
___Jamie___ 9y ago
You could apply this logic to sex and only have sex when you're trying for a baby since all that other sex is just wasted time you could spend improving yourself, getting money, working out at the gym. Go celibate?

vagbutters 9y ago
Just go with proper daygame instead of this gimmicky shit. Not like nerdy beta males orbit any decent looking women most of the time, anyways.
Nogoodsense 9y ago
PoGo is no more gimmicky than going to a gym/club/bar. it's a social vehicle and a venue targeted at prime demographics (people aged 18 to mid-30s, but mostly college age).
Like going to the gym, or your preferred hobby group/club, the context implies that everyone there has a shared interest. so conversation is much easier than cold calling at girls in clubs/bars.
also there is no money necessarily involved, and the meeting locations are potentially anywhere.
corsega 9y ago
I was going to comment the same thing when I first read this thread, but after thinking about it, this is daygame.
Not every guy wants to take an hour out of his day to walk around and approach women on the street at random.
Might as well integrate it into your normal activities.
bsutansalt 9y ago
And pokestops with lures gives you a target-rich environment with which to do the day game at.
vagbutters 9y ago
Playing video games on your phone shouldn't be a "normal activity."
I love how all the fat/scrawny losers on this subreddit downvoted my comment and upvoted yours because their feel feels got hurt. Tough shit, get a better hobby than staring at your smartphone doing juvenile shit
corsega 9y ago
Grow up and show you're a true alpha by not caring so much about what others are doing.
I'm a competitive athlete, I have no need for Pokemon Go. I installed it, played it for a minute and uninstalled.
But I also don't judge and insult others that have different hobbies than me.
vagbutters 9y ago
I really don't give a fuck, but I know blue-pill hobbies when I see them. It's more a matter of probability than anything, and I know that most of the guys here using it are definitely overweight/scrawny loser types who haven't swallowed the pill fully.

Pokemon was made for 12 year olds in 2004. It's now 2016 and those 12 year olds are now in their early 20s and are having a hard time looking down at their smartphones through their massive tits.
Nogoodsense 9y ago
what 12 year olds have access to credit cards to make in game purchases?
what 12 year olds are regularly allowed by their parents to wander around at odd hours into new places by themselves?
the game is targeted mostly at the college demographic.
StoicCrane 9y ago
It's unbelievable you can't put two and two together man. Nintendo is making a quick money grab off you suckers. Now that you're age group have access to credit cards and are on the verge of entering the workforce Nintendo is making moves to cash in off of this new app under the guise of it being for social networking.
Nogoodsense 9y ago
Nintendo isn't pretending the app is for social networking. And there is nothing offensive or underhanded about them trying to make cash off of their IP.
TRP is just realizing that it can be used as a stupid easy vehicle for meeting potential plates with a pre-built-in icebreaker.
StoicCrane 9y ago
If you watch the promotions that's exactly what it implies. Nothing underhanded, eh? Pandering to a demographic they know is about to heavily enter the workforce with a cheap undeveloped isn't underhanded? Right. Enjoy your Pokéman. Just means less competition for me.
Nogoodsense 9y ago
lol why the fuck does this bother you so much bro? god damn.
StoicCrane 9y ago
Because Pokémon Go is clearly a government surveillance app. Though this guy goes too far with Masonry and Color conspiracy there's no denying that Niantic was developed by a government agency and sold off. Pokémon go essentially shut's down the personal rights of users regarding privacy, location and the like all in the fine print. Seemed wrong for a reason and that reason was right.

Video games are for children . Just my opinion, being on trp long enough to realize it's still a waste of time . What are you gaining from getting virtual Pokemon...
And no I'm not some old fag, am 22. You could spend that same Time on something actually productive .
Nogoodsense 9y ago
ah, youth.
you gain nothing from getting virtual pokemon (except entertainment, if that's your thing).
what you gain from this is an extra social vehicle and venue to meet women who you already share something in common with.
it's no more or less useful than going to a bar/club. it's a tool.
how you use it, and how it benefits your RP lifestyle, depends entirely on you.
BlueBlus 9y ago
Theres something called free time that people can you to their own avail.
Late30sMasculist 9y ago
I'm around the same age as OP. I never played Pokemon anything because it was popular when I was too old. Nevertheless I am going to give this a try since I've been trying to date more younger women lately. I put the app on and set up my character in 15 minutes. I'll try playing it a little after work today.
This guide seems to explain it well if you have no idea WTF it's all about or how to play.
chances_are_ur_a_fag 9y ago
in the last week I've seen probably over a hundred images online from all the social media showing massive groups of people playing it outside. it's almost exclusively nerd beta males and some of the women that I did see were the female version of fat nerd beta male. I suppose if you're an introvert and need to work on your social skills it may be good. I personally see this as a teenager thing at best and for complete toolbags. if you're over 25 playing this you have much bigger problems than becoming "alpha" or whatever the fuck reason you have coming to this sub.
bsutansalt 9y ago
Go to bars and areas where you're going to have women in droves, such as your local colleges. It skews the numbers and gender ratio in our favor.
chances_are_ur_a_fag 9y ago
I go to those places without Pokemon and get results

Let me just say that two nights ago, we had so many "teenagers" (16-16) on the green in the center of town, that police had to come and ask them to leave. (which is pretty dumb, kids playing Pokemon had to leave)
But that proves how crazy this is. So many young women attracted to these areas, so many nerdy guys orbiting them
rockinhard130 9y ago
It's pretty cool technology. It gets people off their asses and give you an opener to chat people up. Can even break down barriers. I think it's great.
Tamazin_ 9y ago
I will try this in the coming weeks or so to just try it out, but i sincerely doubt there will be more than a scarce number of women who'll actually play PokemonGO, especially when they're out at a bar. But might just be my age span (22-32-ish) and country (Sweden) i guess. But hey, here's to prove me wrong! :P

Was downtown last night with a buddy and a couple of friends of his and, as someone who had played the Pokémon games from a very young age, the experience was surreal.
I was surrounded by hundreds of people of all ages and types all playing Pokémon GO. Especially loads of cute girls. Unfortunately I didn't escalate enough with any to get anywhere substantial but the potential here is pretty interesting.
But for those of you who want to take advantage of this then I say strike while the iron is hot because this a trend and in a couple of weeks I just don't see this being nearly as popular.

True story. Was at a concert the other night. Before the main band came on stage, everybody was playing it. My friend and I were playing it and we were able to strike up conversations with everyone around us just because of the game. It's a light topic, gets you in a playful competitive mood, and allows you to connect to people and have your own fun at the same time.

Entrefut 9y ago
Really though. Took off my shirt, jumped on my Longboard and just went coasting down the street stopping off at parks, food places, pokestops, every single one had groups of 5-6 girls all sitting around their phones giggling and playing pokemon. The ice breaker is the game, your game is everything else. It's never been this easy to get a group of 4-5 girls to just follow you around from place to place building rapport and gathering numbers. The best part is that I'm actually enjoying playing the game and it doesn't eat away at my life, it ads value. I never thought I'd see the day.

Bulk_king11 9y ago
Maybe it's just me but if you have time to be wasting staring at your cellphone playing pokeman go then you need to re-evaluate your time. Especially if this is taking up a huge chunk of it.
Go experience the world we're on our phones enough. I don't know why but this fad really is annoying to me. I watched some old lady struggling to get her groceries in her car today while 4 people walked right past her staring at their phones to catch invisible shit. There are so many other things you can be doing with your time. If you need this to get you laid then you probably need to work on yourself or find a hobby before you need this app. This isn't doing anything to improve your life. Just wasting data, time, and allowing the government to track you and everything you're recording. Just my two cents, maybe I'm being a party pooper here but all I see is a bunch of zombies glued to their phones walking around
bsutansalt 9y ago
I've learned more about the area I live in in the past 4 days than I have in the last 10 years.
Dayman_ah-ah-ah 9y ago
Then it's sad it took a video game to do that.
bsutansalt 9y ago
It's the little things. A tree that I thought was just one fo the many for decoration, a small stone that had a name plate I never noticed, stuff like that. All are pokestops and are there for a reason. Or the stuff that's off the beaten path that nobody visits because they're out of sight out of mind.
The game is essentially a new form of geocaching with the added bonus of meeting people, which happens to include a ton of 18-22 year old women.
[deleted] 9y ago
Pokemon Go, takin' ur "Game" to a whole 'nutha level!!
rot_barth 9y ago
This gave me the best laugh I have had all day. Right on!
Cmyers1980 9y ago
Didn't know that many hot girls play Pokemon Go.
bsutansalt 9y ago
Law of averages. This game has such widespread appeal EVERYONE is into it. Once the newness wears off or the weather gets cold it'll probably die down in popularity where only the True Nerds play it, in which case the quality of the woman will likely decrease, but for now let's ride that gravy train for all it's worth!
pkg_chicks 9y ago
The thing here is that Hot Girls in the age range of 18~26 were not Hot Girls when Pokemon was popular. They were <= 13 years old or so at the time. The nerdy crew that still plays modern Pokemon (before Go) are obviously into it but this one is the "bringing back the old players". My only warning is that this is probably a fad and will no longer work for pickup in a few months. Ride the wave and pull as many numbers while you can...!
Source: I'm 32 and my wife is 26. She's hot (heck, seddit in part helped guide me to landing such a wonderful lady years ago!) She's played a bit of it already, no shame can name every single Pokemon. I was too old (bad ass teenager) to play what the pre-teenie boppers were playing. I was too busy getting drunk, high and laid at 18~19 years old... not collecting Poke cards.
DarkuSchneider 9y ago
OMG There is no escape from Pokemon even here heh. I know tons of hot girls that play this and roam about town. It is actually quite genius for getting people mobile and socializing in person. Unless they listen to the petition us uncool Windows phone users are screwed. At least were not one of the hundreds of thousands of PGO players that mistakenly installed a root kit malware version instead of the real one and are getting data raped right now =)

Yeah, that's not how this works. Whoever told you that doesn't know what they're talking about.
Someone did get robbed when some enterprising young teens put up a Lure in a secluded location and robbed some people at gunpoint though. Cops caught them not far away because they were dumb and stayed put. Smart enough to use the tech, dumb enough to get caught.

Yep, the social aspects of this game are rather amazing. Every time I'm out and about, I see people stopping, gathering, and talking just because they are there.
It's a great opportunity to perform pick up or just to work on one's approach techniques.
Likewise, I can confirm that people of all ages and demographics are playing the game in Jacksonville, FL.
heslaotian 9y ago
You realize nerd culture is mainstream right? You said yourself everyone is playing it.
bsutansalt 9y ago
Law of averages. Most of the people playing are still going to be overweight or obese in about the same ratio comparable to the country at large. However, it's also like a bar with a lot of hotties going out as well. The dudebros who are in shape however aren't coming out in any meaningful numbers like you'd see at say, a bar or club. Very few of the guys going out I'm seeing are in good shape. I saw 3 in maybe a thousand people over the last couple days of doing day-game with this app.
heslaotian 9y ago
That's an absurd statement. If it was the mid 90's sure maybe you are right. It's 2016. Twenty years later. The main demographic playing this game is 18 to say 36. We grew up when Pokémon was a cultural phenomenon and the nostalgia draws nearly everyone in. Nerds aren't the obese losers you saw in the 90's. I was out with a bunch of friends last night and we got a noise complaint because we were taking a gym. The cops showed up. Both our age and when we told them what we were doing they started talking shit about how we were on blue and they were red. Everyone plays.
