It should be no secret to the more advanced and well off members of this community but for those who haven't caught on:

Black Friday is a pitiless consumer cash grab holiday.

If it isn't Black Friday yet where you are, I challenge you to one of two options:

  1. Buy nothing: Don't give in to mass pressure and buy shit.
  2. Buy One thing: Sometimes there is one thing you need and a good deal is what it is. But pick one thing and back away from the mall/computer until the sales weekend is over. That is a more mindful shopping practice- buy what you need. Also make it a big ticket item, so the savings are a bit more tangible and it feels like an investment.
  3. As a reward: If you know that you busted your ass to lose weight, get a new wardrobe. If you put in sleepless working nights , get a new bed. Some theme that rewards you if you genuinely accomplished what you set out to accomplish. If you are lying then you are only lying to yourself.

And always remember, if you truly need it, then it's probably worth the full price/regular sale.

Do not think for one second that the deals will never come again. They will always come back..each...and...every...year. Here are some of the tricks that stores use to keep you shopping.

In fact here is a better option: I challenge you to what I did last year. I saved money from the last Black Friday and saved money throughout the year and gave myself a vacation. Think for a second- A vacation to Montreal, New York, French Riviera, wherever your hearts desire...The chicks of whichever exotic location you desire literally could be yours. You & your buds on an adventure.

Use it as a final exam of sorts each and every year. How good is your Game? With your spouse, GF, plates, etc. Treat it as a challenge or an excuse to try something new and make memories for your lifetime.

And for the discerning buyer, it can be had for the price of one or two 4KTV's.*

*Depends on the location, travel season, and a bunch of other factors but it's definitely doable.

Now what sounds better?

An opportunity to get laid, push yourself and grow?

Or TV/Furniture that you'll get adjusted too after a month and have its value decrease quicker and quicker?

The beautiful mountain ranges of Alaska through a 4K screen or feel the cold crisp air and be there for yourself.....

The choice is yours.
