I was a typical gym goer. I had a decent base of muscle but my diet was trash but it wasn't too bad and i thought i looked decent.

I didn't. You don't. forget the mirror and take a pic and you will notice immediately how out of shape you are.

I was walking around at about 21% bf and thought i looked muscular and broad. Post break up my first goal was to get sub 15% bf. It took me about 2.5 months to get to ~13% and the change was remarkable.

I managed to not lose that much muscle but i certainly didn't put any more muscle on.

My friends, their gf's, and women i work with would comment and i noticed women's attitudes change significantly towards me.

People were saying i "got jacked". I didn't, in fact i lost a bit of muscle but being significantly leaner gave the appearance i had put on significant muscle.

Summarizing Body recomp recommendations (if you already have a decent base of muscle)

  1. RUN. if you don't run then you better start! The human body was built for running. 20 mins a sessions is fine. Start slow and watch how fast you make progress. I started at 3.5 miles/hour for 10 mins now im at 6miles/hour for 20 mins and it feels great.

  2. Keep lifting heavy. If you don't chances are you will lose more muscle than is necessary.

  3. Count calories and then times by 1.10. Chances are you are under counting calories. Had a fried eggs? calories in an egg are ~70. But you didn't include the olive oil etc.

  4. Try to get .75 grams of protein per pound of lean body mass. '

Bonus Anecdote:

I have seen numerous threads about "how do you know if a woman is checking you out?" and the questions are typically "i never notice women checking me out are they really that sneaky or am i not being checked out?" and the responses are "women are master of checking guys out discreetly etc."

That might be true to some degree but i can say since getting sub 15% bf i have clearly noticed women are checking me out and if i haven't my girl friends or guy friends have told me when one was.

EDIT: Guy's i am in no way a personal trainer or qualified in anyway to give advice I'm just telling you what worked for me. That being said, the spirit of this post is to say that getting better clothes, new hair cut, reading all the red pill stuff is great but my opinion is that if you are not sub 15% bf that should be your first real goal i you already have a base of muscle (although you can do it in tandem with the other stuff).
