I recently wrote how water fasting can improve a mans SMV.
The haters came out hard. When you are taking flak, you must be over the target so Ill keep going.
15, 18, 20+% body fat isnt turning heads on the beach. I dont care how much you bench or squat, you will look better leaner. I definitley lift and lift hard. Im in no way suggesting otherwise. But whats the point of having broad shoulders and thick legs if they are buried under a layer of fat? If you cant see abs and veins in your neck and forehead and arms then you are a fatty. In clothes, you look like shit compared to what could be if you cut down.
Also, its well known that fatties have high estrogen so cut down for your masculinity. A sharp jaw makes one look younger and more manly. Sexual attraction is about polarity. The feminine desires leanness and soft men are women.
And dont guess your bf. Go test it and learn it because its always way higher than you think. Most guys cant believe what it takes to get to 10%.
TRP is about increasing SMV and getting leanasfuck is a fast track to do it.
Dont bother writing me that you are higher BF but very strong. You sound like the hamsters at MRP who think having a great job makes their wives pussies wet. It doesnt and neither do love handles so cut down on your BF and lift hard and enjoy the success that most men wont ever know
Constatine7 6y ago

good point bro..will have that in mind....need to lose 5 kilos ...trt is the key as user /u/NotMeAtAll2091 has noted

No one at 15, 18 or 20% body fat has fat on their forehead. It's literally one of the last places to store the fat at.
I don't see how a vein neatly separating my forehead in two is going to improve my looks.

And THAT is how you do it.
I'm going through a similar process right now having just started back in the gym. I'm going 4 days a week doing the Kinobody "Superhero" program, slightly modified.
My biggest hangup is my diet, which I've cleaned up considerably. It's basically Keto + intermittent fasting. Weight and inches are dropping off my waist surprisingly fast. 2" down, 8 more to go.

Wow dude, im seriously impressed...How did you achieve that?
Been trying to get shredded like this for long time and despite having good muscles nice chest i just cant get a nice six pack...I have an alcoholic tummy...Im lifting heavy weights, squatting (my ass got slightly bigger which is very important) i do push ups and my chest is pretty nice, i do a 3mile run every morning...But my tummy is still there, it doesnt get flatter and i have no idea why...

You're looking fucking awesome btw.

How long have you been on TRT and what's your dose? HCG? Anti E? I've been on TRT for 5-6 months now but sometimes I feel like nothing has changed and not really feeling full benefits. I'm on 200 a week.

You'd be immpressed how much your physique would improve if you shave all that hair off, to me it's a bigger change than going from 15 to minus 10 bf.
Edit: Just saw your trim, sweet. Also be careful to the advice you give in here to people as you are on PEDs, we are playing different games.
[deleted] 6y ago
[deleted]
anabolic92 6y ago
Well TRT is still a taboo imo, complicated issue.
I've been B&C for a while already, other than some potential fertility issues I might face in the future, I regret nothing.
I think you already got my comment about advice, we're simply playing another game and we can get away with some stuff naturals dont.
[deleted] 6y ago
[deleted]
anabolic92 6y ago
Most of the time I have been cruising @ 250mg Test E weekly.
Right now I'm on 500mg Test E + 500mg Tren E weekly, might start cutting soon so I could drop the Test E to 250mg and add some oral.
Regarding fertility, during cycle it is easy to go infertile, yet it seems that people always recover after a while. Heck see some of the bbers having kids and those man barely ever come off, there is some Boston Loyd (I think its his) fertility protcol that seems to work fine.
How is the GH? To me it's the biggest next game changer together with insuling, not wiling to use it yet because it's also kind of expensive.

What about for skinny fat guys like me? I'm 6'1 at 17% bodyfat and although I don't look fat, I wouldn't dare take my shirt off. I used to weigh 135 and I looked like a holocaust survivor with how skinny i was. I "bulked" and i'm currently at 176. However, my arms and legs still look like twigs despite me making a lot of progress at the gym (Increased my squat 100 pounds since last year and bench by 60 pounds). I know I probably fucked up on my bulk by adding too much fat. Should I continue bulking and adding strength or should i shred the fat? My lifts are by no means impressive but I'm finally hitting some milestones like 2 plates on squats and I know that cutting causes strength loss

Of course you can. You'll do it easy, and laugh after. It is not a big deal. It seems so bad only because all of the discomfort associated with fasting is present no matter what, between when you begin it and when you end; but it's up to you whether you want that discomfort all in one go within 24h or you buffer it over 48h. A 24 hour fast is not much easier than a 3 day one. The same thing becomes stretched out more and the more days you're fasting the less the hunger bothers you in reality day-by-day.
If you go to 3 days and more, you might want to include a ramp-in and ramp-out for best results. Same number of days as the desired fast. Day 1 of the ramp-in you might begin by cutting down your portions a third, eliminating salt and meat. Still eating normally besides that. Day 2, eliminating fish & chicken and most solid food, portions smaller still, eating lots of quality greens, small amounts of nuts, porridge, making fresh pressed juices, herb teas as much as you want. Day 3 eliminating everything but the fresh juices (not store bought) and herb teas. Ramp-in finished. Thel fast starts next day, only water for 3 days straight.
Follow up with a 3 day ramp-out, exactly the same only in reverse order. The quality of produce you use during the ramp-out is crucial and the ramp-out stage itself is more important than the actual fasting days, so spare no expense to grab the best foodstuffs available. It all gets instantly incorporated all over the entire system, stressed by hunger it grabs anything and is not picky about it as it might have been normally, so the tolerance for pesticides and nasty stuff along these lines is dramatically lowered, but on the other hand the uptake capacity for quality nutrients is hugely boosted.
This method allows one to skip most of the unpleasantness of fasting, there is no particular hunger pangs or pain when going through the 3 days of only water, and that feel when you finally sip a little juice at the beginning of the ramp-out is priceless.

SkorchZang 6y ago
You're very welcome man. Amazing transformation pics, keep up the good work.
That theory about supplements might be well and true, but whatever else is in those pills will also be exaggerated, and if something about the supplement is not 100% trustworthy that might've been OK during normal use, but during the ramp out it would be poised to do you some damage.
The bottom line is that you'd do best to avoid anything artificial during that short time. Even innocent seeming shit like toothpaste, instead of you slushing it around and then spitting it out, some of it will be hungrily absorbed through the mouth, tongue etc. So instead of toothpaste on the ramp out days, you can intensively chew a big green apple, letting it massage the gums and generally around the mouth - then spit it out into the trash. Don't swallow even a single droplet of the apple juice, spit it all. Or brush with no paste.
A good vitamin supplement during that time would be nice organic berries, various fresh fruits, pomegranate, plain yogurt you trust, kefir. Try small amounts of bee pollen, once a day in the morning gather 1/2 of a teaspoon of the stuff, tip it over right under your tongue. Let it sit in there until it completely disappears (10-15min). That stuff is instant-absorbing energy and said to be the best supplement you can get during the ramp-out. Tastes a little reminescent of salty dried fish, if you like that - not too bad as long as you don't chew, just let it sit under the tongue and get broken down & absorbed by saliva. You can increase it gradually to up to a full teaspoon over a couple weeks. Some people get allergic reactions if the pollen quantity is too much too soon. It's a great supplement to continue as a baseline habit even when not fasting. I still pop supplements on the regular myself, like magnesium, just not during ramp-out.
Lefeudufou 6y ago
Great reply. However I would advise against cutting out salt. I find fasting much easier, and enjoy better cognitive performance while drinking salted water. Obvious you need quality salt for this.
[deleted] 6y ago
I sprinkle salt in my water during fasts. lemon drop or 6 wont hurt too
[deleted] 6y ago
clearly you know what you are talking about....why do you fast? how often?
SkorchZang 6y ago
The same as you bro. What they call "intermittent" fasting has been the natural norm for me for a long time, happened by itself. Beyond that I would add a 24h fast weekly on Friday, just for general health and that feeling of inner celebration.
I go to 3 or 4 days maybe every 6 months, or whenever life isn't going too well and I want to push the reset button on everything. With these 3-4 days water fasts (plus 3 ramp in, 3 ramp out) I'm still splashing in the safe, baby part of the pool and that makes me feel like I can get max benefits out of it, with the least amount of health risk. It's a serious thing, you are setting a fire to yourself and burning from the inside out, but it's a good and purifying fire too. As you found out, some of the benefits are difficult to put into words altogether, you start to think and feel differently, most stress seems to fade away as childish and unnecessary, many things that I would not label as positives or have a word for, have later become who I feel I am, so I don't want to not have them. I have a plate who always notices when I fast and excitedly claims I even fuck her better & more ruthless. Ha ha.
[deleted] 6y ago
yea I do it only for my physique and try really hard to find times when I can be working and excersizing only. Being busy help the time go quickly and it makes me less hungry the following few days. a reset on cravings and snacking for sure.
Not sure I like the phase in and out as it prolongs the pain but perhaps it makes the 2 to 3 days much more tolerable. At any rate, as you say, 3 days is nothing and those claiming its unhealthy or muscle wasting have no idea what they are talking about. As a matter of fact, the biggest and best I look is after a fast and a couple meals. It's like the first fluids go right to muscle first and pump you up.

Don’t we all have cancer floating around as damaged cells? Or perhaps better said, those cells become cancer once they accumulate and develop a blood supply. I’ve done no research but I’m curious how HGH affects these cells. Elsewhere in this thread you referenced accumulated DNA damage at your age (my age too) and I believe encouraging the death of damaged cells is one of the main benefits of fasting (and IF). Rhonda Patrick ftw!

still tho, much respect to you regardless man. again: inspirational.

Well what have you learned? You're hot shit. Tell her you want to have her help manage the meat market.
Anyways, your post is obviously an inspiration for men everywhere. Consider making a whole post, talk about yourself and the changes, both physically mentally. Relay to men what you did in this small comment.
Your post drips with authenticity. Lots of guys like to sling around how great they do, but few post with the ups and downs and give an accurate portrayal of what it's like to be a man who is almost 50 in great shape.
Well, you can still pull 20 year old women. And plenty of 30 year olds, easily.
Rollo's SMV forecast was never proven wrong.
Again, it'd be great to see a whole post. Sometimes guys just need to see what it can look like if they're discouraged or cynical about the idea that they could be spinning plates in their 40s.

The TRP thing to do is what YOU want to do. If you'd rather travel the world with your multimillionaire LTR instead of spin plates, more power to you.
It doesn't sound like there are huge downsides to getting married to her if she's wealthy; she'll probably even ask YOU to sign a prenup.
BTW great info, thanks for answering all these questions.
r4nd01 6y ago
dude, rethink that, its totally a trap.
if he doesn't make the kind of money she does, and starts accepting "gifts" or letting her pay for expensive trips and dinners, etc, he will be entering her frame. by throwing her money around, the alpha woman seeks to dominate and humiliate every man she can. she likes that OC (original commenter) is hot and improving himself and wants to see if she can tear him down.
for background, i recently divorced an alpha woman. i was showered with gifts, given a magic money card, taken on trips, all in exchange for validating a lunatic and allowing her to attempt to dismantle everything about me that she initially found attractive (aka "challenge" me). I could even be getting alimony right now if i had discarded my final shred of dignity and surrendered to becoming a fully feminized man.
All I'm saying is, don't marry a woman for her money. get your own money, its way better.

I find that TRP advice is hit or miss. The older guys and endorsed contributors are usually pretty good but beware, most of the board is early 20 somethings that have read the theory but have little to no experience.
r4nd01 6y ago
honestly, I might be making a lot of assumptions based on my own biases. also you're probably much better prepared for the situation at 47 than I was at 25, given that you are here on TRP which didn't exist when i got into that relationship.
Have fun, and just don't compromise anything about yourself for her
redpillbanana 6y ago

This is very true. I used to go to the gym a lot, took roids and got 'big'. But I had body fat. So I just looked large, not ripped.
Fast forward 10 years, after giving up all that gym bullshit and getting into hard road cycling, I am about 6% body fat, ripped, tanned and fit into a small T-Shirt no problem. I am technically skinny, but Tour de France skinny. And I get a LOT more women than I used to when I lifted all the time but stayed fatty.
There is bit of a vibe on TRP that you need to lift. You don't. You need to be fit. This can be achieved through whatever exercise you want, but you need to do a load of it.
Slim and fit > Bulky with fat. Just look at how mad women go over pro footballers... they are never that bulky, rather they are light, fast and endurance based.

Haha, yeah what a bastard I am. Not sure why my comment got downvoted; it is the truth of what happened.
Low body fat is very attractive to women. I don't care if the fatties don't believe it. I'll just carry on having success with women.
trplurker 6y ago
So your in the hospital right now doing all that cycling, got it.
[deleted] 6y ago
Don't know much about cycling, do you mate?
trplurker 6y ago
So your cycling in a hospital bed, got it.
At 6% actual BF you've crossed into the territory where the lining between your muscles and nerve endings has started to vanish. The human body really doesn't like being under 10% actual BF, it's not designed for that. Under 8% the layers of fat that act like buffers and insulation start to vanish which cause's all sorts of negative health effects. Muscle aches, tingles, chronic fatigue, constant soreness, inflammation and so forth. Exercise starts becoming impossible to do and any sort of impact will result in hospitalization.
Take cycling for example, your body weight is centered on your gluts and hands. The gluts, like all muscles, have a layer of fat between them and the various nerve endings and even your pelvic bone. That fat serves to cushion and distribute pressure and impacts across a wider are to reduce injury. Now that layer is practically non-existent so every bump on the road, however small, is being translated directly into your body weight impacting a small portion of bone, muscle and nerve endings. Your entire ass and hands would be covered in bruises after a short bike ride down a regular road.
So no your not at 6%, your actually around 10~11% depending on genetics. Our last 4~5% of BF is essential BF required for us to breath, without that your a corpse, the next few percentage points is all the padding between muscles, bone and nerves, after that is actual fat used for energy storage. The trend on the internet in the last couple of years has been to entirely ignore the essential BF and pretend it's not there while doing measurements. It's like women using small numbers for their sizes, makes you feel better but has no actual impact.
What bodybuilders do is hover around 10% and then prior to going to competition do a fasting diet where they lower their BF into dangerous levels for very short periods of time. During that time they are weak as fuck, seriously small impact will cause a huge ass bruises to form and extremely pain from nerve endings being hit. After competition they go back to the 10% level to maintain their health.
You want to see what real 6% BF looks like, go find some starving people in Africa who look like walking skeletons. Sustained sub 8% BF with muscle isn't possible because the body would of cannibalized that muscle to replenish the lost fat buffer. But hey keep up with the Muscle Magazine madness, it's like Cosmo for men.
[deleted] 6y ago
Thanks for the essay.
Whatever the % of body fat you want to think I have got, I am still out there hammering through the winning alpine races, am lean as a mother fucker, and am there pulling the women.
Google Peter Sagan, and see the kind of physique a pro cyclist gets. This is the kind of thing that the women flock to.

General rule of thumb I’ve found. you can only hook up with girls that have similar body fat percentage as you. Don’t expect to nail down someone who looks great in a bikini if you look like shit with your shirt off.
Unrelated note... look at the difference between Johnathon Rhys Meyers before and after his little alcoholism binge. He was a good looking guy in his film career and he looks like shit with a few extra pounds. That is how people perceive you

I don't understand how men can deal with seeing their wives get fat. Good thing am not getting married. It is pathetic
RedPilledGodEmperor 6y ago
Yeah, marriage is not worth the risk. I mean my mom and dad both keep themselves in good shape, but I have seen/heard so many examples of women who just gain weight in a marriage and the man basically has to deal with it.

I used to have an attitude of "give everyone a chance, everyone deserves respect." But after seeing the hard work my dad did to lose 50 pounds, and how much work I put into my own diet, I straight up have no respect for fat people. If you can't stop stuffing your face with McDonald's or fucking twinkies I don't have time to spare on you.
[deleted] 6y ago
My sister has been on the heavier side her entire life. I keep telling that her she needs to eat healthy AND exercise properly to lose weight. She claims to be doing both of those, but is still fat as ever. She also tells me because she's a woman it's harder to lose weight, and tells me to mind my own fucking business because I have no idea what it's like being fat. I have absolutely no respect and only disdain for her.
doodo477 6y ago
Calories in is what only matters. Maybe she will be fat her entire life, maybe she won't why does it matter to you what she does? Shes a women after all.
sircomeseyesd 6y ago
Ive learned that saying this out loud with ppl around is a dangerous move.
OneRedSock 6y ago
Once you spend the amount of time to dig through the facts about diet (not fad shit, but actual nutrition balance) and spend the time finally reading nutrition labels, measuring and weighing your food, limiting your alcohol and sugar intake, and forcing yourself away from your previous addictive eating habits (oreos and goldfish for me), you really and truly begin to lose respect for people who just complain but never attempt to fix their shitty diet and physique.
You can give these people all the correct information -- whether in pages and pages of data, or truncated to a page of the most necessary bullet points -- and they would never, ever have the discipline and mental fortitude to reach the same outcome.
They are simply weak people. They are losers, because you cannot lift them up to better themselves. They don't want to, because bettering themselves requires agency that they either can't understand or don't want the responsibility of.
doodo477 6y ago
From the scientific journals I've read we all have the same active metabolic cost once you control for lean mass and fat mass [http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0040503]. So if you remove the variable of exercise from the equation. Then the only variable left is calorie intake.
Control your calorie intake then you will lose weight, its that simple. Yes you can do it sitting on your ass.
AlexDr0ps 6y ago
Women only need to do one thing to be treated like royalty - be skinny. And yet somehow, we see whales on legs whine that they are treated unfairly by men. So dye their hair blue and march for equality. The fat acceptance movement is probably the only thing worse than feminism. Encourage being a lazy sack of shit and blame men for not wanting to give you their time. What a joke.
GalcomMadwell 6y ago
It really baffles me how our culture has let obesity become a "body type" instead of a preventable disease.
I guess it helps companies sell more fast food and unnecessary medicine.
bipedalsentient 6y ago
I think being skinny is just as problematic as the whales. Your hormones aren't at the most efficient level, and chances are you probably dont have any structural integrity.
empatheticapathetic 6y ago
Because women can only function with a victim mentality.
StickguyMB 6y ago
Yeah, but I keep seeing whales that complain about how many guys like them and who reject any decent guy that talks to them. I don't think it matters unless she's like 500LBS or sonething
Gidanocitiahisyt 6y ago
Yeah my ex is 200lbs, when our 5 year relationship ended she immediately went and fucked Chad on Tinder (she described him as 'really, really, really hot'). Before we broke up, she always complained about how many guys hit on her.
So now it's up to me to put hundreds and hundreds of hours into lifting and dieting so I can hope to attain an SMV anywhere near what she can acquire just by sitting in bed eating icecream playing with her smartphone all day.
CaspatheGhosty 6y ago
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and rise up. It is the only thing we men can do.
Kalidane 6y ago
No, put hundreds and hundreds of hours into lifting and dieting so you feel fucking awesome. The good stuff comes because of this.
If you were alone on an island for 2 years, which somehow had a sweet gym, would you even lift?

It's so true. All of that. I'm fucking tired of it.

Cmdrj-nice 6y ago
My suitemates are two fatties. All they do is sit in the dorm all day and watch movies. These two are the reason why I hate fat people now. Disgusting af
soulcatcher357 6y ago
I can't recall the name of the show, but there was a British documentary on Netflix where they do an autopsy on an obese person pretty gross and at the same time enlightening. I think it is actually motivating me.
cappadocianhawk 6y ago
I used to be fat, lost 100 pounds. I know it can be done, since I've done it. Fatties have no one to blame except themselves.
Turns out if you don't eat all the time, you lose weight. Who would've guessed.
trancedj 6y ago
Told a fatty at work the same thing. Apparently dudes wife has been on his ass about losing weight. I finally gave in and told him “I know how you can loose that weight”. He starts making excuses before I even tell him. After telling me he can’t exercise because blah, he can’t diet because blah. I’m like dude. All you have to do is stop eating so much (IF). He laughed at me. I stopped talking. He’s still fat as fuck. No discipline. No drive.
cappadocianhawk 6y ago
Can't get anywhere in life without discipline and drive. These people are doomed to stay mediocre or worse.
HappySmaug 6y ago
Last month I was walking into the gym with one of the trainers, he was carrying a box with him. As we pass the receptionist who is a lard ass the trainer turns to him and say "hey man...I've got some protein and creatine in here if you want some." Lard ass shakes his head and says "NO"! Here we have a dude who could workout for free, get free supplements and free fucking training. After seeing that I can't even look at lard ass when I scan my gym card.

Yeah. It wasn't anyone else's fault I didn't exercise much for 20 years and ate way too much pizza. I ended up weighing over 320 pounds with diabetes and a heart condition. I had weight loss surgery to jump start things but that only gets you so far (its considered successful if you lose 60 or 70% of your excess weight). I got down to 230 pounds fairly quickly. Now I'm having to ramp up my workouts to make further progress (lifting -- mostly basic heavy compound lifts -- and HIIT). I'm now 215 pounds and starting to look pretty good -- about another 30 pounds of fat to lose. I'm off all diabetes and heart medication. I'm 53 years old.
[deleted]
reluctantly_red 6y ago
Thanks. I trying to save some money for possible plastic surgery -- but so far not that much excess skin -- pleasantly surprised given my age.
hack3ge 6y ago
If you don’t mind me asking what were the surgeries and the cost?
I was 355 at my heaviest and I’m 155 right now.
I’m pretty sure I’ll need to have surgery to fix some of my skin around my chest and lower abs. I don’t care about the money as much as the recovery as I hate sitting doing fucking nothing.
p_and_q 6y ago
Im in the same boat but haven't had surgery yet. How much did they cost and was it worth it?
cappadocianhawk 6y ago
Yep, people keep asking me how I did it, and I tell them "I don't eat sugar" and leave it at that. Weight control is another red pill all on its own.
So many times people told me I was starving myself and was going to die. Especially after my bf dropped below 20%. The crabs are real.

I ate at about 70% deficit for 4 months with Keto. It helps with feelings of hunger and cravings, but you obviously can't eat above or at maintenance and expect to lose.
ace15klos 6y ago
A calorie is a calorie. Shit you can lose weight by just eating pizza, just make sure your caloric intake and protein intake (if you going gym) are on point.
[deleted]
sam_the_dog78 6y ago
People are shocked to learn that I’ve lost 50 pounds and eat massive chipotle burritos all the time. Yeah because that’s all I eat for dinner and they have an excellent nutrition calculator on their website
ace15klos 6y ago
I really love pizza and treat myself all the time. People are like you eat so much how are you not fat?
I just dont eat breakfast and go gym and drink a protein shake + pop some multivitamins and vitamin d on top of whatever i eat(usually junk food) and it works. Some people actually get pissed when I start explaining that a calorie is just a calorie because "muh health guru said otherwise".
johnbranflake 6y ago
Keto works though because he won’t feel as hungry all the time and it will be easier to eat less.
Neddy93 6y ago
Oh, but he will. Keto works because most of the cravings people have is for sweets, and when all that is prohibited, you just tend to eat less.
sirbassist83 6y ago
but he still has to eat less. he doesnt understand that. he also doesnt understand what a carb is. i tried to tell him to eat a pound of either chicken breast or fish, and as many green veggies, black beans, or lentils as he wanted to go with it, and 2 eggs for breakfast, but nooooo.
i gave up around that point
zmazo98 6y ago
The stupid is hurting my brain, could you stop? XD
Stron2g 6y ago
The irony is that you're the stupid asshole for telling others to eat fish when it's loaded with methyl-mercury. Also, you can easily eat all you want cooked vegetables and still lose weight. It's all about never eating sugar, gluten, processed fats, etc all the garbage basically.
sirbassist83 6y ago
its like you just saw "fish", locked on to that, and completely disregarded everything else.
some other things: not all fish is loaded with mercury, but it pretty much is all low calorie and high protein. gluten is only bad if youre legitimately allergic to it, and most people arent. sugar is fine in small amounts. i suggest you find some peer reviewed scientific studies and stop getting your information from fitness blogs and infowars
you are right that you can eat as many veggies as you want and still lose weight though, because of how low the caloric content is.
Kwantuum 6y ago
No it's not. Ever heard of the twinkie diet? The Mc Donald's diet? For health, sure, quality of food matters, for weight, no, it really doesn't.
zmazo98 6y ago
Yeah, Not eating mixed with exercise helps. But how in the hell did you do that? I want to know, not going to lie, I'm a fatty! However I work on an asphalt crew as a shovel man. I can't find anything that works for me. Now low metabolism runs in my family, but it pisses me off when anyone who knows the family gives me the excuse that its genetics, because as everyone knows thats bullshit.
cappadocianhawk 6y ago
Keto and intermittent fasting. It wasn't even hard. Did it all in 4 months, didn't feel the need to touch any carbs the whole way.
Now I eat much more carefully, obviously. But lifting heavy is your friend if you like eating a lot.
zmazo98 6y ago
I know I need to start lifting, I like food too much to not be.
JamesBeanbore 6y ago
Low metabolism doesn't run in your family. You're just fat.
zmazo98 6y ago
Wow, thank you for restating the exact point I was trying to get across, impressive reading comprehension skills.
JamesBeanbore 6y ago
I said you're just fat. Your metabolism isn't slow.

Life changing dude seriously. If you are fat you can literally fast four weeks and weeks and weeks and the fat (not muscle) will melt away. I'll be here if you need anything
zmazo98 6y ago

[deleted]
RP085 6y ago
Being fat is caused by food addiction.
Research shows that at the core (physiologically, psychologically), all instances of addiction are identical regardless of what the substance/activity is.
Are all people who are addicted to something losers?
ddponti 6y ago
Yes. Addiction can be overcome. Otherwise, they have lost to addiction, thus losers.
RP085 6y ago
So in that case, anyone who's addicted to something (the overwhelming majority of people) are losers?
ddponti 6y ago
Absolutely. We're talking about being the best version of yourself. The weenie hut is that-a-way.
hawkeaglejesus 6y ago
if one is so weak that they have no control over their impulses, yes that makes them a loser
[deleted]
[deleted]
jimbad05 6y ago
That's a pretty fancy definition for what most people would call a "bad habit."
I used to be in the habit of swinging through the Taco Bell drive-thru every night for dinner. Was I "addicted" to Taco Bell? No, I occasionally went other places, or ate some frozen crap at home if I was trying to save money. But most of the time it was a big meal from Taco Bell. It's just a routine, like brushing your teeth at X time or taking a shower at Y time.
JMW1237 6y ago
That's not true. Sugar and carb addictions are absolutely a real biological process. Does that mean people aren't to blame? Of course not, anyone can power through. But it is a real biological effect not just a routine
RP085 6y ago
Yeah. You're not wrong. I didn't pick the words that best describe most cases.
What I meant to do wasn't to excuse people who have a weight problem; my intent was to point out that these guys are saying "fatties are losers" not because their particular problem (weight) is uniquely different from other problems people have, making them especially "loser-like", but simply because they don't like fat people.
ndestruktx 6y ago
Yes and no. While we all are losers in some way, being fat is one of the worst.
I'd much rather be losing at video games than losing to food. Losers in both situations but definitely different.
[deleted]
RP085 6y ago
Are you sure people choose what the dysfunctional aspects of their minds are like?
[deleted]
Jyontaitaa 6y ago
It’s very easy to shift between addictions. People who do lose the weight often manage to do so because they become addicted to exercise and or the side effects of fasting instead of food and drink.
hugeveinycock 6y ago
i am a rabid weed smoker but i feel like it holds me back in my life.
it's like the psycho hottie that you can't stop fucking, even though she brings chaos and distress into your life. the high is worth it when she's swallowing your dick.
so can I ask you, what made you decide to quit? And, what happened in your life afterwards?
RP085 6y ago
But the same can be said of any problem.
My point is, you guys don't actually believe fatties are "choosing" to suck shit. Like a person is going to "choose" something so irrational. You just feel gratification out of spitting on them.
FredDroppedCornbread 6y ago
I think a large part of it is a defeatist attitude. You begin blaming someone/something else on your condition, and it continues from there. I was never overweight, but I was a heavy drinker, spent years sniffing coke, bombing MDMA, blues/yellows, anything I could get, within reason. I realised I was a peace of shit, ruining my body, and left it behind. Someone else was always to blame, and I didn't care who I was blaming, as long as it wasn't me. You might not always be to blame for getting yourself into a situation, but you're completely to blame if you stay there.
[deleted]
Toxik6 6y ago
Can confirm. Tried coke. Didn’t like it. Tried E. Was cool but quit it. Food is my weakness because you need it. I can’t just quit food.
[deleted] 6y ago
agreed. My follow-on thought is a little different but similar -
given the recent-decades discovery of keto (low carb, Atkins, etc.) there is no excuse to remain fat. none at all. doing Atkins eliminates cravings entirely, and people drop fucking weight. A person has to be either not looking at all for weight-loss solutions (ie, lazy), or, they just don’t give a shit. no respect for that.
Random_throwaway_000 6y ago
It's not hard work? Being skinny is so easy it just comes naturally. If you know how to cook (Every self respecting man should), then you are in full control of your own weight. No one becomes obese eating vegetables.
party_dragon 6y ago
I've never needed to eat breakfast. I recently discovered that I don't really get hungry throughout the day if I don't eat. So skipping both breakfast and lunch has become my go-to cutting strategy (we'll see what the longer-term effects are, but so far it's going well).
There are so many diets because people's minds work differently. You need to figure out how to hack/train your own mind.
Fragosus 6y ago
You are fine. You are basically doing your own version of intermittent fasting, and that shit works wonders for a lot of people.
chloness 6y ago
I am like you. Once I start eating I am hungry. If I just skip till evening then I can enjoy a larger meal which keeps me going. Only thing I do is protein powder after morning weights.
Drumcode-Equals-Life 6y ago
I’m the same way, no problem skipping breakfast and a light lunch, just eating one big meal a day for dinner. Works wonders for staying lean.
[deleted]
TunedtoPerfection 6y ago
Yup and winter time is the best time to figure this shit out in my opinion. Once i figured out my diet the gains came in strong and most the fat burned off pretty easy. Now it's just the small amount covering my abs and mid section.
TimPartendale 6y ago
I thought I was the only one! I’m never hungry in the morning and I’m very rarely hungry by time lunch. I could probably sustain myself off of a yogurt or a piece of fruit for most of the day.
If I’m hitting the gym I’ll have a protein shake post-workout. I feel like I have to force myself to eat otherwise.
Coworkers and friends will ask me constantly how I’m not hungry.
[deleted]
Neddy93 6y ago
I didn’t eat breakfast all through middle and high school - you’ll be fine. That whole “most important meal of the day” nonsense was just a campaign by the cereal companies in order to get people to consume more shitty breakfast meals.
party_dragon 6y ago
Exactly. I don’t understand how anyone could think that cereal is healthy... or tasty, if it weren’t for the sugar. In general, why would your “breakfast food” be any different than your “lunch food” or “dinner food”?!
iknowthewhey 6y ago
There is a diet called the "warrior diet" out there that advocates this diet. It states that the most natural way of eating is the way you eat and that it has to do with primitive instincts and insulin sensitivity. The author advocates one meal a day at night and "under eating" during the day which is basically eating nuts and fruit and such until your evening meal.
I agree that breakfast is unnecessary. I don't do the whole diet though when I workout in the morning because I believe its important to have fuel for your workout and protein sources immediately after.
[deleted] 6y ago
For my morning workouts, I just drink 25 grams of protein before, and another 25 after.
omjagvarensked 6y ago
To me I am skeptical about this. Isn't your body essentially just always in starvation mode? Can you still think clearly or have as much energy to go about your daily tasks at optimum efficiency? Doesn't your body tend to use up muscle mass instead of fat when you enter starvation mode?
As I am only just starting to look into diet and exercise myself, I am also wondering about the complete contrast of this diet found in Asian cultures, where you eat between 7-10 small meals throughout the day and basically have you metabolism constantly grinding. This is apparently the prime reason why there are fuck all fat Asians in the Eastern world.
Please give me all your insight
party_dragon 6y ago
No idea. Some people think starvation mode is amyth. Others say that it’s all fine if you’re “resetting” your hormones every so often by having cheat days/refeeds. Recently some have been promoting fasting as a way to achieve autophagy, a process where your own body destroys damaged cells, as a way to slow down aging.
Who knows. Experiment and figure out what works for yourself. Personally, I do just what I said above - skip breakfast and lunch. I still snack, but mostly low-calorie fruit; I just snack less, because skipping lunch makes me less hungry. It also prevents me from getting sleepy during the day (I don’t drink coffee). I also avoid sweets, as consuming sugar makes me want to consume more sugar. Finally, I’m having cheat days often as I don’t let my diet interfere with my social life, so if someone invites me for lunch, I’ll eat lunch.
So far so good. I lost 4lbs in a week with minimal mental effort. Some of that might be muscle, but I’d prefer to be lean rather than muscular. Still have like 10lbs to go!
CHAD_J_THUNDERCOCK 6y ago
The long term effects are fantastic. Its very healthy. If you can fast for 20hours thats when autophagy and anti ageing effects kick in.
r / intermittentfasting
[deleted] 6y ago
20 is great. 30 is too. as is 48.
all of this is short fasts and your own body and lifestyle and goals determine optimal length.
Personally, I like a few days a week of normal eating and drinking ao a day or two of nothing is necessary
360_no_scope_upvote 6y ago
This is also a great way to lose muscle mass though. Unless you're hitting your daily caloric intake at dinner and night.
ace15klos 6y ago
As long as you get the protein you need your muscle mass loss will be minimal. 150 grams of protein on a cut and you should be more or less sorted.
party_dragon 6y ago
Well yeah that's what happens during a cut.
360_no_scope_upvote 6y ago
Losing a little bit is normal if done correctly, losing alot is a sloppy job
wooksarepeople2 6y ago
Yea people don't need to compromise that shit.

https://examine.com/nutrition/how-much-protein-do-i-need/
I gained strength and muscle mass while on a daily 1000kcal deficit last year. I lost 14lb in that month while adding muscle and numbers to my lifts. Its possible. I fasted 20 hours a day and had 160g protein a day inside my 1500kcal calories. I also only cooked once - a huge 50litre curry. It was extremely efficient but took huge focus and I had the bandwidth for it at the time.
tlaatonmai 6y ago
what a horrible way to live life lol
CHAD_J_THUNDERCOCK 6y ago
Its not as bad as it sounds.
Fasting is great for losing weight as you have less ghrelin spiking - the hunger hormone. Days 4-10 were toughest but you adapt quickly and it got surprisingly easy.
Cooking a huge batch of food at once was useful as getting 150g protein in 1500 Cals is actually quite tough unless you plan it. And I hate calorie counting. I also fail more when I calorie count.
This method really was the pain-free and lazy way to lose fat very fast without any muscle loss.
I did a write up here if people want to learn more: https://archive.fo/nSxNN

You're not going to lose lean mass if you keep reaching muscle failure at least once a week. There's a million different theories, but Arthur Jones was onto something, and so was doctor what's his face that wrote the book body by science. On a 100lb cut I did nothing but get stronger and stronger, and get larger and larger muscles while the fat burned away with IF/keto combo. Muscle failure jumpstarts muscle growth and strength building regardless of what fuel is being used, there were weeks were consistent water fasts had me growing stronger, not weaker. But people tend to think you have to do 5x5s every day and eat broccoli for the rest of your life.

This is some of the biggest horse shit I've read on here. If you're muscles aren't getting fed they're going to deplete. I don't care if you run backwards faster than Ben Johnson. There is no magical exercise.
Just because some lifts go up doesn't mean that you are gaining muscle. My bench went up 10 kilos 3rd week of my cut. Doesn't mean shit, in my 12 week strength will go down.
In your case your fat was the fuel, for a normal non over weight person it won't work that way
warrior5597 6y ago
You do realize body fat is an energy source, correct?
360_no_scope_upvote 6y ago
Only when you're in keto and keto isn't permanently sustainable, especially when you're not fat. Bodybuilders cut carbs until show day and they still have to refeed (cheat days.)
warrior5597 6y ago
It's certainly sustainable, and are we trying to compete in shows or be in shape?
360_no_scope_upvote 6y ago
If you think you can out train a shitty diet or a lack of one then you are clueless is all I have to say.
warrior5597 6y ago
How the fuck is keto a shitty diet?
Entropy-7 6y ago
I don't disagree but have to make a sideways comment to put it all in perspective.
I recall some agency saying that something like 15% to 25% is reasonable for a guy. In other news, guys who are overweight but not obsese tend to have higher n-counts than slimmer guys, so go figure.
We say "lift" because 2/3rds of guys are overweight and a good third or more are obese. You don't need to go crazy on this but watch your diet and hit the gym 3 times a week to get your BF% to 15 and BMI to 25 and you are top 20% right there.
I am Canadian. All your rippling abs don't mean shit when you are wearing a parka. If you are in SoCal or Miami then there are certain subcultures where beach wear is the norm and pipes and 6-packs will get you somewhere. I live in Shenzhen, just north of Hong Kong and at the Tropic of Cancer. It is rather conservative here and there is no beach culture. A simple 0.9 waist to hip ratio will get you where you want to go.
[deleted] 6y ago
I recall some agency saying that something like 15% to 25% is reasonable for a guy.
Ok go have a reasonable life.
Ill be in the hot tub drinking champgane with your wife
Entropy-7 6y ago
Maybe my ex, because she is an idiot, but certainly not my wife.
The American Council on Fitness says 18% to 24% is "acceptable", and 14% to 17% is "fitness" while 6% to 13% is "athletes".
Lifting and fitness and getting down to 12% or 10% or 8% certainly has its benefits. The thing of it is, going to extreme measures is the refuge of guys with no game. Lifting, exercise, diet and such takes drive and discipline but it is straight forward, which is one reason it is so appealing.
Social skills are much more difficult to explain and learn. The reality is that as long as you are not a fat fuck you can get along fine with good game and a strong frame. In fact, if you have the touch of the blarney it might make more sense to leverage that rather than obsesssing about diet and fitness.
Yes, lift. But 4 hours a week is all that it takes. Toss in a 5k morning jog and some intelligent eating decisions and getting in that "fitness" range of 14%-17% is perfectly fine to slay like a warlord if you have the other markers of high value.
[deleted] 6y ago
So many of you love to bring up...game! Money! Career and charisma!!!!!
All are important yet leanness can be added to that easily by stopping eating a day or two a week til ur also cut
Entropy-7 6y ago
Well yes. All I am saying is that it is not essential to have a single digit body fat percentage to be successful with women. About 15% is probably the tipping point to min-max your outcomes for most guys.
If it gives you a rush to be significantly lower than that, then power to you and it will increase your SMV. For the majority of men they basically have better things to do with their time and energy.
1by1is3 6y ago
I think you don't understand how BIG the difference it makes in your facial aesthetics when you are 8-10% as opposed to 20%. Visible, sharp and defined jawbone, and slightly hollow cheeks increase SMV even if you are under a parka half the year. The facial expressions are also more pronounced as the muscles in the face are not hiding behind a thick layer of fat.
Entropy-7 6y ago
Well ya, if you are porcine then that shows in your face, but if you are in the normal range and your have decent facial aesthetics you are doing fine. If you are ugly then hollowing out your cheeks is not going to help much if at all. Sure, don't be jowlly or have a double chin but a nice hair cut and properly groomed facial hair will do way more for you above the neck than getting down to 8% BF.
1by1is3 6y ago
You don't believe in evolutionary psychology then if you don't think that a lean face is more sexually attractive than a non-lean face. Anything over 10% bodyfat is actually unnatural with pre-modern diet and activity levels.
And the whole point of losing fat is that you don't need gimmicks like a nice haircut or groomed facial hair to create an illusion, low bodyfat is sexy even if you are shabby.
Entropy-7 6y ago
Again, if you are not a fat fuck you are doing ok. Pudgy faces obviously look worse than those on guys who have their weight under control.
The only seemingly credible reference I found online says Body fat attractiveness had a bell-shaped curve. The most attractive men had 12 percent body fat.. That would imply that anything under 10% is just as unattractive as anything over 14%.
1by1is3 6y ago
No that is an extrapolation only you made. Nothing in that study suggests less than 12% is less attractive, infact the study is arguing against higher fat % as attractive.
If you want real world examples: Most male models are lower than 12% bodyfat. Most Hollywood actors shaping up for a role are also lower than 12%.
You are simply hamstering your 20% bodyfat now.
Entropy-7 6y ago
1) No I am not hamstering because I know I have to drop 10 pounds and add some muscle.
2) Do you understand what a bell curve is?
According to the results, less than 12% is sub-optimal.
I dunno, if you can find any credible studies to back up what you are saying, I will read and evaluate them.
TRP isn't about how male models do things because those guys are doing things just fine.
I will grant you that you have a sub 10% BF - and man to man I applaud you.
My point is that your strategy is not the optimal strategy, at least for not most guys.
Most guys are not male models and will never be male models (are you ?)

Upvoted for the water fasting, it's my go to method while cutting
[deleted]
MormonRedPill 6y ago
That's not nitpicky. It's common knowledge in the bodybuilding community that you look worse in clothing at low bf, even for the huge guys. For further info, here's Jeff Nippard talking to AlphaDestiny about "bear mode". When I saw low, I'm talking about 8-10% vs 14-16%, not 15% vs 25%.
refusewool 6y ago
I looked great at 15 when I was cutting down from 18. I suddenly hit 10 and everyone said I looked ill. Much better shirtless, ten times worse in a shirt. 12-13 is my sweet spot.
TunedtoPerfection 6y ago
You weren't wearing tight enough shirts at 10% then. As I cut down I constantly lose more and more wardrobe, I'm giving myself 2 months till I need to revamp everything.
I'd suggest getting back down to 10 and getting some new shirts, you'll probably have to tailor them and just deal with tighter T -shirts
ddbsirt 6y ago
You don't want tight tshirts, just get tshirts that fit well.
Nothing looks worse than a tryhard in a tshirt that's obviously tight to show off muscles.
TunedtoPerfection 6y ago
Definitely want fitted over too tight try hard. But fitted shirt will feel tight, at least they did for me, because I was use to such baggy clothing for 30 years of my life.
refusewool 6y ago
You’re probably right. It’s a hassle having to maintain two wardrobes worth of clothes.
eccentricrealist 6y ago
Just reached 40 lbs dropped, the difference in how people treat you is insane, and I've still got like 15 to lose if I want to really look lean. Trust me, life is more delicious than any cheeseburger you could eat when you look good.

wooksarepeople2 6y ago
If you want to drop weight and keep it off go on the KETO diet. Fucking works wonders.
[deleted]
ddbsirt 6y ago
Yes. Or do any of the other available diets that are in a calorie defecit.
To keep it off, eat at your TDEE.
Keto is no more effective than other diets.
tnegaeR 6y ago
Underrated comment
Keto takes IRON willpower
wooksarepeople2 6y ago
I have a cheat day once a week with whatever I want. I'm still setting personal records in weight lifting. I'd say I've probably gained muscle since I started and I still get to keep my abs. The willpower is nothing when you see the results. If people can't handle that they don't deserve a six pack and solid muscles. They can starve themselves like chicks do.
ATPsynthase12 6y ago
Keto is almost impossible to maintain long term without going on cheat day binges. For most people anyways.
Go ahead, never have pizza, beer, bread, sugar, or anything like that ever again. Or be that guy that has to bring 3 chicken breasts from home when you go out with family because you can’t eat the same foods as normal people. I’ve been there. It fucking sucks and I’ll never do Keto again.
IIFYM and a calorie deficit has worked well for me. It may not be as effective as Keto in the short term for shedding lbs but it’s maintainable for long periods of time.
basebool 6y ago
I ccompletely agree. I don't think you should be depriving yourself for short term gains. Find a diet that you can actually be on board with and dont go overboard with cheat days. You may not see results as fast as keto but fuck I'd rather not be as miserable.
giggity23 6y ago
Keto is the only diet that works with my autoimmune disease. So I am prepared to do it for the rest of my life
CalfReddit 6y ago
Cheat days without huge binges are fine. Just don't overdo it and definitely don't do it in the first two months because you're still adjusting
wooksarepeople2 6y ago
Most people are fat. I have a cheat day every Sunday and don't go over. People who can't do Keto lack will power.
marplaneit 6y ago
Holy fuck I could never cut below 14-15% It was just hell, I lost a lot of strength and size, and felt like shit, I was so damn hungry all the time. Now I cutted almost 30 pounds down to 10% (And the leanest I have ever been since I was a teenager) and I never felt hungry, I actually won 5 pounds on my bench press, and almost didn't lose any strength on my squats and deadlifts.
wooksarepeople2 6y ago
I'm a month in and can see my abs again after getting a beer belly. I've been continually keeping personal records in weight lifting without a problem and if anything I look more muscular.
miserablesisyphus 6y ago
I've done Keto, but I get the best results with just a low carb diet. I eat fruits and vegetables, but still do a high fat diet. I'd say my carb intake is about 100 g a day, which teeters on keto. Each person is different and one of the main reasons Keto is hard for me is because i'm lactose intolerant. If you can eat dairy than keto is a lot easier.
wooksarepeople2 6y ago
Fucking cheese is life in Keto.
[deleted] 6y ago
15% is the max. Get down to 10%-15% and then bulk up. When to cut? When you go over 15%
[deleted] 6y ago
Don't focuss too much on %, just trust the mirros. Some guys are stage ready at 8% some are at 5%. My point being two guys looking equally shredded can have very different percentages depending on genetics and fat distribution.
Lawojin 6y ago
Agree with your point. But don't trust mirrors. They are deceitful bitches. Your physique varies wildly during the day. Meal Bloating, pump or no pump, water retention due to carbs or sleep deprivation, bad lighting, it's better to trust statistical data
[deleted] 6y ago
That's true as well! Bottom line eat clean, lift heavy, track macros and keep moving forward!
btrpb 6y ago
My abs are out to play in the morning. Then I'm eating for gainz all day long. Bloated throughout much of the day :)
ddbsirt 6y ago
Disagree. It's better to get to know your body. I know when I've got a pump or if I'm retaining water due to carb consumption. If you can't track your progress without getting tested then you're doing something wrong.
The mirror is all the matters. Girls don't know your body fat %, they can just see if you're lean.
If you're in a defecit and eating enough protein, you'll lose fat. Stick at that until you're lean enough that you're happy. Body fat tests are a waste of time.
[deleted] 6y ago
At 14ish my clothes dont fit well. Everything is tailored so I have no choice but to stop eating til they fit again
uwey 6y ago
Get it refitted?
[deleted] 6y ago
Sure, if i were a lahooooooser
verotx 6y ago
you recommend cutting first even if you got little/no muscle mass?
[deleted] 6y ago
Yes for two reasons:
1 the biggest thing holding new guys back from gains is lack of faith. If you'd gotten ripped before, you would wait patiently for the gains. You haven't been ripped before. You're going to need to see gains as they come in or you will quit. This is only possible with a low body fat %
2 you have higher level of testosterone when you have less fat. Gains will be bigger as well as more readily noticable with a lower body fat %
verotx 6y ago
thats what i thought. I probably have my newbie gains a lil (i lifted casually for almost a year now) but my bf was a little too high for my liking so im cutting pretty hard. i just dont wanna look like a stick.
Thotwrecker 6y ago
If you are skinnyfat and untrained, you should be putting on muscle and losing fat at the same time. Noobie gains are legit - and so are "I got fat as fuck after being in shape" rehab gains.
For example, in 2015 I was 225 lbs at 6'2', and about 24% bodyfat. Fat, but I had been rationalizing my weight because I was strong and still felt like I looked solid, and I was still getting female attention. Hamster overdrive.
At this point cutting is the obvious answer, but even on my cut, I gained some muscle mass because I increased by volume and intensity on the cut too, and I was only cutting about 400 cals a day. (Leangains / 16-8 style protocol). So in about 8 months, I had lost only 28 lbs, but I gained strength and muscle mass to test in at 15%. By LBM (lean body mass) was up a good bit. And I was / am a intermediate lifter.
You will get some noobie gains on a cut. You will not burn fat on a bulk. So the skinnyfat guy can totally rehab his body into something respectable in 6 months on a cut. On a bulk? He'll gain good muscle but he'll also gain fat.
Cut to leanness, then stay lean. I cut to 10%, I don't like to go below 10%, and then I bulk to 14%-15% and then immediately pull the plug and get back on a gentle cut. I don't really go extreme cuts or bulks, max of 500 under or 300-400 over.
Zech4riah 6y ago
Easy to identify with this - Especially that hamstering part. I was huge and strong and my GF back then said she really liked me as I was (later found out that she wanted me to be fatter because she was insecure about my good looks) and I still got IOI's so I got positive reinforcement constantly until I saw myself in my friends wedding photos. That was the moment I realize "Ok, I'm not only big but I'm now fat too".
Cut from 240 to 205 in about 13-14 months while improving strength levels a bit.
[deleted] 6y ago
do what works for you. for me who likes a few normal eating days each week fasting works
RedPilledRoaster 6y ago
Good fucking Lord. Fuck fasts. Fuck retarded ass eating programs. Just fucking calculate your maintainence calories and eat 500 calories below that everyday for 6 months. It’s not that fucking hard.
Edit: Reason why I sound so pissed here is I’ve had to deal with people telling me they can’t this can’t that and they just say they’re going to try some special fast that loses fat quick.
A water fast will work but you’ll lose a lot of muscle in the process plus it’s not realistic for people who didn’t have the discipline to not get fat in the first place.
FatmanO 5y ago
Worked for me something like that, with about 56lbs lost in 7months. I easilywent from 3 to a 6 with that
Tie5o11 6y ago
This isn't what the sciences says at all. The human body evolved to induce autophagy and ketosis (breaking down fats and dead/dying cells during periods of calorie and carbohydrate restriction). Muscle is basically preserved until you fast for a very long period of time. It would be very difficult, if not impossible, to grow muscles during a fast, however.
I intermittent fast quite often (16-20 hours), and swear by it. I'm around 10% BF and have been able to maintain most if not all my muscle mass from my 15%+ bf days.
ATPsynthase12 6y ago
Not to mention it’s not maintainable for long term weight loss or maintenance. When you go back to eating like garbage you’ll just pack the weight back on.
You mean to tell me you’ll never eat carbs again or keep fasting until you die? fat fucking chance.
[deleted] 6y ago
500 cal deficit a day works. I never said it didnt.
I did say there is another way tbat suits my lifestyle very very well
KekistanRefugee 6y ago
Finally some fucking sense in this thread. I inadvertently did intermittent fasting for 2 years. Granted I never gained weight even after eating like a trash compactor, but I realized it’s all about calories in, calories out. Eat less than you need = lose weight. Eat more = gain weight.
Just gotta find that balance.
eccentricrealist 6y ago
Every diet is a way to reach this deficit anyways
avngr 6y ago
You're right. There are plenty of ways to loose weight. If there are two things I tell people they have to try in their lives : mushrooms and water fasts. My last 7 day fast was a game changer for me. I don't do it for the fat loss. I do it for the profound mental clarity. It's a deep, spiritual experience for me but, also keeps me lean. Regularly I do intermittent fasting. I eat once a day save for training days where I have 2 eggs after the gym in the morning. I would recommend looking up info by Dr. Peter Attia, Dr Dom D'Agostino, Dr Rhonda Patrick, Coach Charles Poloquin, Martin Berkhan. There is also some interesting research being done at Johns Hopkins on psychedelics and fasting. me@176lbs bw right now
rainbowstalin1234 6y ago
actually, you dont... your body eats PROTEIN, not muscle. Big difference, your body eating protein is stuff like lose skin, bad junk cells, etc. . .
also fasting increases HGH by A LOT which helps retain muscle
See Dr. Jason Fung for more info.
Youtube and google is a thing, there is no excuse to be this ignorant now. come on.
RedPilledRoaster 6y ago
That is the most retarded shit I’ve ever heard. Not even worth arguing
RedPillHorse 6y ago
Med student here, all of your cells contain protein, not just your muscles. People that do extended fasts tend to metabolize literally anything, including scar tissue. Read up autophagy. Though it sounds silly, what he says is true.
Water fasting doesn't burn any more muscle than any other weightloss method, it fundamentally wouldn't make any sense for your body to discard its muscle during a time it needs it to gather food. I don't get why people argue otherwise since literally no one here has read up on fasting.
Research has also shown a link between fasting and an increase in HGH, so your reaction is entirely unwarranted.
RedPilledRoaster 6y ago
Don’t say “Med student here” and expect me to give a shit, when I have doctor who tells me that creatine kills your liver and whey protein has similar effects to oral steroids.
“It fundamentally wouldn’t make any sense for your body to discard its muscle during a time it has to gather food.”
This doesn’t make any sense at all. You’re putting your body into STARVATION MODE, meaning it will burn anything necessary for energy. Food being first, fat being second, and muscle being third in terms of priority. Your body does not give a shit about preserving muscle if you aren’t eating enough.
If you cut out calories your body is going to burn muscle and fat much faster than if you just lower them. This is common knowledge in the fitness world. Hit the weights a bit more than you’re hitting the books. Then you’ll see what I’m talking about.
RedPillHorse 6y ago
https://idmprogram.com/fasting-and-muscle-mass-fasting-part-14/
Are you autistic? I'm telling you how it is, you don't lose muscle beyond normal diets when fasting. It's heavily researched. Being a med student has direct relevance over this topic because it's something that is taught. You're not taught about supplements and bodybuilding.
There is no such thing as starvation mode. It doesn't exist. There is such a thing as adaptive thermogenesis, i.e. your body producing less heat and slowing down its heart-rate ever so slightly as you eat less. But that also happens during normal diets, and it's barely significant, 5-10 percent of your tdee. Certainly not a "starvation mode" as some would think. I've done weeks on water fasting and ketogenic, in addition to strict calorie counting and aside from cutting carbs, which makes you lethargic, you don't feel any different.
"Bunch of people believe it therefore I believe it"
t. you
You're wrong, stop arguing.
RedPilledRoaster 6y ago
You are actually retarded if you believe that not eating anything at all equates to the same amount of muscle loss as eating under a slight caloric deficit.
Actually. Fucking. Retarded.
By the way some random blog post doesn’t count as a scientific study. You’re a med student but they teach that in middle school. Lol. Nice work there buddy.
Also, I’m not talking about how you feel, I’m taking about fuckin muscle loss. Ask any experienced bodybuilder and they will agree with me about what I’ve said.
Stop making things more complicated than they have to be and fucking lift some heavy weight instead of expecting some crazy diet to answer why you haven’t made any progress.
Humans are meant to eat. Not starve themselves.
Keep looking for an easy way out. I’ll continue making actual gains.
RedPillHorse 6y ago
That random blog-post is well sourced throughout, I've provided sources for my claim, now show me studies which show that there is more muscle loss per calorie when you fast vs slight calorie deficit.
That's all there is to it. Experienced bodybuilders bodybuilders aren't scientific research, and you're asking me to ask them? You gather the data and show me, the same that I did for you.
You are delusional if you believe that water fasting is "an easy way out" because it's tremendously difficult.
Here is a fact you cannot refute: fasting is equivalent to normal diets in muscle loss to the point of being insignificant. If you can't refute this with actual research then we're done here.
inb4 no reply or "hurr i don't need to refute it cuz its so stupid durr" you fucking pussy
chronogumbo 6y ago
Ah quality argument. I don't like to water fast because I find it too uncomfortable to get work done, but I'll not eat every other day. Due to muscle memory, any strength I lose I end up getting back the week or two after I stop the cut.
Marr0w1 6y ago
Clearly someone has never heard of the effects of fasting and catabolic/anabolic states.
Once your body has expended ATP stores, it moves onto glycogen (sugars), then fats and protein, but if you're fasting that will definitely include your lean muscle as well as your fat stores.

Raeksis 6y ago
Completely agree in all aspects.
Also, the point of redpill is becoming the best version of yourself that you want to be. If you feel better at a higher bf because you look bigger in clothes and are more stronger and powerful then why the fuck does it matter? Girls will sense that confidence you have in yourself and be attracted to that.
Some people on here are too obsessed with what other people think about them and that's beta as fuck tbh
trplurker 6y ago
It's the never ending game of one-upmanship. Just being 15% isn't alpha enough, now they gotta push it lower and lower and just make up bullshit cause interwebs. The latest trend has been removing essential body fat entirely from the equation and thus artificially pushing their BF% down about 4~5%. Someone who was a "fatty" 15% BF can now with a simple recalculation be a "cut" 10% BF without leaving their computer desk.
Anything under ~12% starts being unattractive due to looking inhuman. Under 10% it gets worse and around 8% it's now into the grotesque territory. Under 8% and serious medical issues start happening due to insufficient insulation between the muscles and nerves.

Found skeleton mode “body builder”.
Bro you know body building and powerlifting are relative goals right? You can be lean and power lift just like you can be a fat ass “body builder”.
In fact, at my leanest points (10% and 13%) in my almost 10 year lifting career I was on powerlifting regimens.
Im naturally a bigger guy even with my muscle and strength I’ve accumulated over 10 years. My body naturally wants to hover around 15-17% (mind you 15% looks much different on a trained weightlifter than a couch potato) with a controlled diet of constant macro tracking and weight training. It’s just how my genetics are. So it requires a lot of sustained low calorie dieting and cardio in addition to my weightlifting regimen just to shed weight and get below 10-12% and it’s near impossible to maintain long term without being in a 1200 calorie almost keto diet indefinitely. It’s different for everyone.
It fucking sucks to have to do that for months just to get “sub 10%”. And when I do diet that low as I said before my caloric intake is so low that I have “dieter’s fatigue” symptoms of: fatigue, muscle weakness, mental fog, joint pain, depression etc. And currently I’m at a stage in my life that I cant afford the luxury of dealing with all of that. I’m in medical school and I have commitments that require me to be functioning mentally at my peak.
It sucks, it’s unpleasant and frankly unnecessary as it hasn’t affected my ability to get laid whatsoever.
Should someone who has never stepped foot in gym try and get fit before he tries to up his game? Yes.
Should we use blanket statements that everyone above an arbitrary threshold be labeled as a fat ass? No. Because it is incorrect.
St1ngray00 6y ago
Totally agree, I don’t know why ppl sacrifice power for a shredded look. I’d rather have 20-30% bf putting up major gains then be a twig
ddbsirt 6y ago
You don't have to be 20-30% bodyfat to make major gains lol

The only excuse you should have if you're at a heavier body fat is if your bulking, and only if you are going to burn it off later.
clon3man 6y ago
As someone who doesn't put on weight , I'm tired of this kind of advice. Being overweight is a fucking easy problem to solve and isn't an SMV dealbreaker at all for men.
Come back to me when you have cocktail of crippling health problems that have absolutely nothing to do with weight, then tell me about how being fat hurts your SMV....
Jesus christ stop eating sugar and bread and do IF the info is out there; it's not fucking hard compared to what lean people have to do to get ripped.
naIamgood 6y ago
I cut the first year and went from 156lb to a very lean 140lbs but I had skinny arms and looked really weak at just under 5'10. Second year I started lean bulk and went from 140 to 165 plus. Still bulking around 170lb. My belly size is decent but got a little chubby on face. I will eventually cut in a year or so hopefully after I get to 190lb.
I definitely like the lean look but I also believe that it only looks good on you if you have decent size muscles especially arms and good height to go with that otherwise you look like a skinny faggot.
Point is your life is long enough to try both and then make a judgement. What is this fight about?
[deleted] 6y ago
there is no fight here...I lift hard. Im just saying without low bf, its not as good as it can be. not even close
ddbsirt 6y ago
Don't waste money testing your body fat. Girls can't tell what BF% you are, they can only tell if you have visible abs. Your scales and mirror are the only things you should hold yourself accountable to.
[deleted] 6y ago
Yea my gym has a scale with bf test so its pretty easy.
ddbsirt 6y ago
Those are incredibly inaccurate. Not worth your time.

Shit is true. As a junior in high school I barely lost my virginity to a decent looking chick. I was 250lbs at 5’9” but I could squat 500 bench 405 and deadlift 500. But like op said I was fat as hell. My senior year after football season I decided to go on a hella hard cut. At the start of senior year I was 240lbs and had been with 1 other decent looking women. By the time graduation cane I was a lean 175 and all the girls who wouldn’t give me the time of day started hitting ME up. All I did was get in shape and that alone got me women. I started college lean and had at least 10 women I could call for sex whenever I wanted. As college progressed I got fatter and soft and guess what I lost the ladies. Low and behold I cut again and the women came back.

Water retention plays a big role too. Being a fat planet certainly makes that worse, but you’d be surprised how much fatter 1-2lbs of water can make you look, especially on your face. The most attractive guys usually have faces that make it almost impossible to look fat, even if they actually are fat elsewhere. I’ve had people ask me if I had a face lift just from losing less than a pound of water weight from water retention in my face.
exscionewhuman 6y ago
Your message is similar to "Most of you are too short to have high SMV". There is some truth to it, we know height is an advantage, but we also know some short dudes are killing it at life. Fat dudes too.
Real talk. I know nobody wants to hear this but, some of us just have way better genetics. Some can eat like shit and it turns into muscle. Some of us look at a hamburger and gain a couple pounds. The variance between human beings is insane, and completely unfair. You can't change it. You could never hope to ever compete with a natural, nor fake being one.
If you want to be happy, first learn to accept and love yourself. The only person you should ever compare yourself to is your past self. Are you doing better or worse? When you find yourself comparing yourself to others, realize it can only ever result in a false high, or an equally false low. All that really matters is how you feel about yourself. No one can change that but you.

This bf scale only applies to beach towns. In a place like ATL i get complimented by ladies at 18% bf
altlegend 6y ago
I would say I have a good case of 18% bf because I look proportional af. My calves are the same width as my neck and I’m 215lb. Undoubtedly it’s not enough but I am aiming at 12% or less. I could still win a hb with what I say and the Honda I wear on my neck. Still room for improvement.

While working out is important, it is not the most important thing. Building power is. I know countless guys with beer bellies who have their pick of the hottest women, because of the position of power they are in- rich, successful, influential guys. Now of course these guys are usually smart and confident as well, but sometimes fitness is not in the equation.
If choosing between studying for your degree/hustling at your job, and getting a few more hours at the gym each week/eating perfectly clean, choose the former.
Now that doesn't mean you should neglect fitness altogether- not at all. You should eat healthy most of the time and go to the gym at least a few times per week with a disciplined routine. A strong, healthy body is a catalyst for a strong mind. Also, as people have mentioned, if you are visibly fat people will immediately lose respect for you.
My point is that you should not go chasing 10% BF unless you have a lot of free time in your schedule or you are ridiculously disciplined. It is not worth diverting focus from your professional ambitions. If you can do it all, great, but it is not a realistic standard that most men should strive for.
If looking swole and cut is the number 1 priority in your life, you are no better than the makeup instagram thots.

As someone who plays a bunch of sports, is strong, but has a higher BF(%) - I totally agree with you.
Having high body fat is like being 5 foot tall, you're NEVER going to be chosen over someone who manages their weight.
I've been moving in the right direction recently, but still have a decent way to go. Once you start caving into dumb excuses, you're committing to being a fat c*** for life.
On a side note: I automatically have far, far less respect for overweight people.

Fat people give more excuses than any other IMO. They blame anything they can to infer that they're not responsible for their size. Granted, some people are naturally a bit bigger. Does that mean you're destined to remain on that path? Nope. You're accomplishments are limited by your motivation (sorry for the cliche). Not happy with your weight? Eat less, get some exercise. Nobody is asking you to eat 6 carbs a day and run a marathon, but reduce your consumption and increase your expenditure. I don't buy the whole 'I tried dieting and it made me fatter/miserable'. Motivate yourself, and act on that motivation, you'll see a change, and feel better for it.
Do what you want. But don't blame others when your lack of effort makes you unhealthy.

Truth be told, my confidence is still there, but when I out a muscle shirt on, I my arms look like fat shit. When I was lean, you could clearly see my delts, biceps, triceps etc separation.
Not to. Mention mid section. Going from a 6 pack to flab is fucking gross.
Edit: and I'm saving this for motivation. Thanks op.

6'4" @180lbs. I have the opposite problem.
Gotta get to lifting, I know...
iknowthewhey 6y ago
I'm glad you made this post. There's too many fat guys out there thinking they are tough and big. You're just fat bro. Any man above 15% body fat needs to lose weight as their primary goal. I constantly hear the excuse of "bulking" but you build the most muscle around 12% anyway. Anything above 15% is just lack of self-control.
The best thing you can do is buy a body fat scale on amazon. I got one for under $30 that records and tracks every stat such as body fat, muscle mass, etc. They aren't exact but they can get pretty close. Every day there are people claiming to be 10% Bf but they have never even measured their body fat.
[deleted] 6y ago
Of course bro, we’re all gonna make it. But it’s still best to just eat at maintenance and recomp when you’re starting out in the gym. I made the mistake of cutting when I started, looked like a skeleton and made slow strength gains.
If you start off bulking, you’ll gain more mass, but it will fkin jiggle. Maintenance until hard plateau in gains, lads.
0mnipath 6y ago

What the heck does mean "lift hard" for most of you? Everyone says LIFT HEAVY AND HARD, but in what percentage? 70%? 80%?
[deleted] 6y ago
I do 18 to 25 sets each workout. Approx 5 to 7 reps per set. All compound movements
ViktorCage 6y ago
Today I had leg day, so for the warm-up I banged 30 reps. By the time increasing the poundage, I did 15, 8 and 7 reps. By the time I started to do leg press, I triggered a huge migraine and I left the gym because of it. I also mention that I took 5g of creatine and that made me nauseous and I felt a huge pressure around the side of my head. How bad that could be?

What about muscle loss? I’m trying to cut down but want to retain as much lean mass as possible. I have a solid 30lbs of fat to lose
360_no_scope_upvote 6y ago
Hit your protein intake for your lean body mass and lose fat slowly. If you're losing over 2.2 lbs a week you're also losing muscle. Calculate your TDE and hit those calories religiously, count every calorie, anything that goes in your mouth except for water.
[deleted] 6y ago
Ill be honest. When cutting you won't make strides with the weights but if you keep lifting hard you will maintain most if not all if the muscle and strentgh.
And you will look way bigger
[deleted] 6y ago
The longest I’ve ever fasted was twenty hours, how often should I fast? And for how long?
Proto_Sigma 6y ago
A lot of people highly recommend Intermittent fasting. Have a 16 hour off period when you don’t eat anything at all and an 8 hour period where you take in whatever you need ( less is more, you are cutting after all). Do that every day.

Nothing wrong with jumping on a treadmill on its higher settings and going on for 20 second sprints, and taking a 30 second breather in between and jumping back on.
Gets the body flowing nice and provides a decent enough after burn to carry you when you are done lifting.
I always looked forward to the after burn and sweat. Followed by a cold shower.
That’s when you know your burning and rocking a flaming core.
ddbsirt 6y ago
That, but mainly HIIT is fucking incredible for heart health.
LISS does basically fuck all.
wayneinthegame 6y ago
When your body is flowing, you enjoy the after burn of a rocking, flaming core?
pevans12 6y ago
When you are maximizing your heart rate without stimulants you can feel the hot blood rush through the body. That’s called working hard. Your entire body is warm but the core is warmer. It burns fat.
dumbkidaccount 6y ago
The real attraction starts at around % 10 bodyfat..
trplurker 6y ago
This is incorrect, fatty is 25% BF for males 30% for females. Males want to be under 20% to have an attractive look. The 12~15% area has been demonstrated to be the most attractive with anything under that starting to look more and more grotesque and inhuman. Women don't walk around with calipers and eyeballing is horrifically inaccurate so that idea is dead in the water, instead they are judging the general health and ability of the male. So looking inhuman is a huge negative and bulging veins and muscle magazine physique is unattractive to the vast majority of females, instead a well muscles healthy appearance scores the highest in every study ever conducted.
What's likely happening is you are removing entirely the essential bodyfat needed to keep yourself breathing and thus reducing all your numbers by 4~5% to make them look more shocking.
Zech4riah 6y ago
I agree with you.
Usually people estimate their BF wrong. You can almost put +5% to estimates.
At 15% you can look good and your abs and veins may show if you have the genetics (I guess I'm the few lucky ones).
Although now closer to 10% things look so much better. (And yes, getting from 25% to 15% was easier than getting from 15 to ~10%).
It's funny how girls notice veins in hands and forearms and think they are sexy.
aolders 6y ago
I'm kind of in a dilemma.
I'm lifting, but I'm still rather skinny with 73kg. According to my measurements and the information form several calculators I have 13% bf, but at the same time I still have a small belly that looks like I'm becomming pregnant. Do I now have to "eat way more" like everyone says here or do I have to cut to an even lower weight first?
Viramont 6y ago
I honest to god want to see someone who’s doing the water fasting meme and post actual results.
I always hear about all the weight they lose but I’m 100% sure they look like a flabby deflated bag of shit and put the weight on immediately when they start eating again. And it’s only obese fatties that promote it, just like keto.
[deleted] 6y ago
Why not try it and see for yourself?
Viramont 6y ago
Would rather do it the legitimate way instead of taking the fatty shortcut and completely ruining my body
[deleted] 6y ago
Why do you think not eating 1 to 2 days will ruin your body? Where did you learn this nonsense? Why not try and see for yourself?
Viramont 6y ago
Kek I thought you were endorsing the retard method of fasting by going weeks without food. I’ve done this fast before.
[deleted] 6y ago

RedPilledGodEmperor 6y ago
I have been doing intermittent fasting and it's been great for not just my body, but my skin and other aspects of life. Definitely recommend it. Stop eating at 8:30PM - 9PM and start eating around noon or 12:30 PM
washington_breadstix 6y ago
And let's not forget that many of us are also too skinny to have high SMV. Fat people at least get the occasional overt reminder that they are not attractive. But no one ever tells the skinny guys that it's not good enough for a man to not just be fat. You have to be lean and have some visible muscle.
TheDialecticParadox 6y ago
This is the first time I've heard of 'water fasting' and I've had skin in the game for a while. Sounds like another crock of unnecessarily stringent dieting protocols that will just lead to a yo-yoing physique. It shouldn't be that complicated. Having a good physique is as simple as putting in the hard work. No fasting bullshit required.
I imagine that half the lifting/diet posts on TRP would be invalidated if pictures were to go along with the post. Most are probably by chubby 'powerlifters' or skinny DYEL bros. OP if you posted pictures I would certainly be more receptive to your suggestions, especially before and afters.
[deleted] 6y ago
and TRP sounds like misogyny but we here know very different
[deleted] 6y ago
I actually dont give a fuck what would convince you. If you dont believe, then piss off.
TheDialecticParadox 6y ago
Well if you didn't care what people thought, why bother to make the post in the first place?
Don't get me wrong, I agree whole heartedly with this post. Being lean does make you more attractive. The other one was crap. That's all I was saying.
Also, the 'I don't give a fuck about anything or anyone' attitude doesn't impress anyone.

ElijahBurningWoods 6y ago
1.5 months ago, I met a personal @ the gym. I became friends with him and thought: why not give it a try? In just one month of lifting 4 times a week and eating pretty clean, I went from 16% fat to 11.3%. I was pretty blown, how fast that went. I started seeing my sideribs and abs again.
[deleted] 6y ago
why not give it a try is a great outlook to have for all sorts of things
ElijahBurningWoods 6y ago
True, before TRP I used to think about things, but never take action. You should always try new thins, even if no1 is supporting you.
r4nd01 6y ago
the only way i can fast and still maintain mental focus at work is if I take amphetamine tablets. with that nugget of dark magic, I can easily get through days with only 1000-1200 calories. Pretty exhausting though, and much discipline/moderation is required. Hippies are always talking to me about fasting, but they probably don't have demanding jobs or obligations so they can pull it off without my kind of 'help'. ...but they usually look like shit anyway, and fast for 'spiritual' purposes.
[deleted] 6y ago
I do well fasting when busy. to each his own. I avoid when my kids around as i have a short temoer2
Wolveryn 6y ago
Don't forget the 'skinny-fat' dudes thinking this doesn't apply to them :)
tibikush2012 6y ago
13-17% body fat over a body that can lift heavy weight doesn't look bad at all. When I was with visible abs my success with women was lower than when I simply had a flat stomach and some fat.
In a healthy male with normal fat % the fat goes to the belly and the shoulders and it looks good. I don't find the veiny look attractive (and so do many women atleast where I live).
[deleted] 6y ago
Hahahahh
tibikush2012 6y ago
Why did you add the 15-25% to my quote? I said 13-17%
Red_Faust 6y ago
My normal state if I don't lift and fast is around 21% bf. Given my height, build and facial aesthetics, I look good with that bf. Good enough to have several MLTRs at each given point in time and enough rotation to lead a happy sexually varied life.
A few months ago I resumed lifting (after recovering from a serious injury), made my diet a couple notches stricter and started fasting hard (warrior diet, I eat only once each day, after lifting)
Long story short, I'm at around 16.5% bodyfat now, with some muscle below it. In pubs & clubs my IOIs go through the roof, and my last Tinder date, the very second thing she told me was "wow, you're handsome".
I've made my personal crusade to lower that to 12%. Why?
Because science, bitch:
http://rspb.royalsocietypublishing.org/content/280/1751/20122495.full
From the article: "All facial and body measurements were linearly related to attractiveness, except body adiposity, which showed a curvilinear relationship, peaking at a body fat percentage of 12 per cent."
So 12% BF seems to be the statistical best bf% in terms of attraction (some women may prefer higher or lower but surely one won't go wrong aiming for 12).
So I've made my personal crusade to reach 12% body fat, whatever it takes.
And I would recommend anyone else to do the same if you really really want to turn girls' heads and trigger a sea of IOIs you can capitalize on. Or just to look and feel real fucking good because you deserve it, you tiger!
P.S.1: I measure it using a normal bathroom weighing machine with bf% capability. Inaccurate as fuck but useful for tracking your trend (up or down?). However comparing my body to reference pictures on the intarwebs it looks that the measure is not that far off. Optimization with more accurate and expensive methods shall come later (when I can see my abs). First the foundation then the details.
P.S.2.: I've kept two plates during the whole transition (meaning these two have known me the whole time, while others came and went). Now both of them orgasm faster and harder. Coincidence?
P.S.3.: Notice that I am a former fatty and even as a little kid I was a fatty. T2 Diabetes runs in my family, I am very insulin resistant and normal food makes me fatter than the average person. Also I'm in my early 40s.
With this I mean you don't need to be as spartan as me to achieve the same outcoumes. I play the diet game in Nightmare mode. If I've done it, you have no excuse.
[deleted] 6y ago
If I dont lift and fast, I look like Seth Rogen

tibikush2012 6y ago
What build and what height do you have?
Red_Faust 6y ago
In imperial metrics, 5 ft 10 in.
(Currently ~74 kg, 16.5 % bf)
I put on mass quickly, be it fat or muscle, so being relatively ripped looks good on me even with a little body fat.
(Though this is not an excuse to cheat, and I am working very hard to lower my bf to the most attractive levels)
NitricTV 6y ago
Yo where can I read more about the warrior diet? I’ve been stuck at 17% for the longest.
Red_Faust 6y ago
Leangains - https://leangains.com
I do leangains (but with a specific weights routine since I have an injured back).
I lift fasted, eating some BCAAs to prevent catabolism.
I eat once a day, after the gym. I eat paleo (veggies and lean proteins). You can get results with a bigger Intermittent Fasting window. "Warrior diet" is just an intermittent fasting where you eat once per day (i.e. instead of 16/8 or 20/4 I basically do 23/1).
If you want to get over a plateau you can do a 48-hour fast. I read about them from Ludvig Sustrom, here:
https://www.startgainingmomentum.com/the-2-day-fast/
I've done 3 of them to push my body farther, I'm not doing them anymore because my stomach seems to have shrunk down and my single food intake seems now small enough to keep losing fat.
If you wanna try it, don't do the 2-day fast when you go to the gym! The day when you don't eat is recommended to be a rest day.
Addition: the 2-day fast is really hard on the psyche. That's why I save it for breaking plateaus, reverting a setback or special stuff like that. Normally I prefer to just eat once a day (which by itself is already a willpower challenge) and enjoy it and keep it going for longer.

Train your neck too, it's one of the most underrated part. A thick neck boost your manliness and smv tenfold. Always exposed, always in sight.
FuckMichaelMcCoy 6y ago
As someone who has been on /bodybuilding forums for a while now.. it is basically known knowledge that a buff neck is genetic. For example I got a buff neck. I dont do neck curls. The "neck curl" fad is new and only been around for a few years due to Alpha Destiny hyping people up. Im not sure there are any legit evidence of neck exercises working for people. Shrugs seems to be the only legitimate exercise to show neck gain results in a safe way but its a byproduct of gaining trap size.
Theres the old adage of wrestlers strengthening their neck for their sport, but even then it seems a reach to say they added size. The argument is that you have a higher chance of damaging your neck than gaining size on it.
S-Blaze 6y ago
I've never been a big believer that genetics plays that absolute role. Muscles will grow as long as you train them and feed properly and the neck is no different. People with pencil necks probably just never exercised it enough through sports or training. Mine grew exponentially in the span of 1-2 months just doing neck curls with no weight on the side of my bed.

15% body fat means I'm to fat to have high smv? I know husky guys, who look good with a little belly, in fact women flock to them.

ATPsynthase12 6y ago
I think what he is trying to say is at what point is the trade off not worth the gain of a little extra pussy and superficial validation from vapid sluts?
Dieting to sub 10% body fat for me is fucking miserable. I’m looking at cardio 3-4x per week and my normal weight lifting program on a 1200 calorie diet that is borderline on Keto. I couldn’t maintain that for extended periods of time even with the iron willpower of a god, frankly it wouldn’t be healthy. There is a reason why body builders don’t stay near contest weight year round.
I don’t think it’s worth it to turn an couple extra heads.
Personally I’ve been training for close to a decade and my body fat tends to hover around 15%. I’m in a relationship with a 9/10 and I get laid multiple times per week. I’m not hurting for pussy because I look good and I take care of myself.
Your post means well, but a lot of people are getting irritated because you’re saying “this works for me, therefore it is gospel. Do it or your a blue pulled beta cuck”. A better approach is to get them 15+% bf couch potatoes in the gym.

If you are over 15% body fat you are too fat. Period. No red pilled man should be above 15%. Bulk up to 15% max and then cut. The higher your body fat %, the more caloric surplus gets partioned as fat instead of muscle.
Spare me this "herp derp all that matters is getting big herp derp" garbage. Any man looks better the closer to 10% body fat he is. Show me a man who looks better at 20% than 10%. Yet I see so many guys here on TRP claim they get more pussy at 25% body fat then they did under 15%. Either you drastically lowered your standards and are getting low quality women, or you are lying.
It's like the guys I see at the gym who wear muscle cut off shirts and act like they are all big and muscular because they are big. Dumbass, your arms aren't big because of muscles, they are big because they have more blubber fat on them than a walrus.
Lastly, if nothing else, lower body fat has its biggest impact in your face. Your face at 15%+ body fat is soft, less angular, less defined and therefore comes off as far less masculine and attractive. Lose the weight if nothing else for the sake of your face aesthetics.

After a week of mostly just protein shakes, I got significantly leaner. I'm like 8 pounds lighter and look bigger than before.
Now I'm excited to load my glute with tren and fast for another week or so.
LiveAFTSOV 6y ago
A skinny fat guy who weighs 150 lb at 18% body fat. If a guy like that cuts he's going to go from looking average or normal to being a complete scrawny twig don't think the cut is worth it in that case.
ATPsynthase12 6y ago
A trained weightlifter at 15% body fat looks much different than a guy at 15% body fat with no muscle mass whatsoever.
But for the general population what you say is correct
meaningintragedy 6y ago
A man who doesn't have much muscle. 10% on him is like anorexia.
I was so much better at 17 with muscle than at 12 without muscle.
[deleted] 6y ago
keep the muscle and lower the bf
meaningintragedy 6y ago
That's the plan. I'll do a slow cut and keep getting stronger until I can't get stronger anymore. (I do powerlifting)
Black_m0ngoose 6y ago
Girls didn't even start snapping me unsolicited nudes until I reached 9% bf, despite my lifts staying relatively the same.
Girls don't like fatties who can lift heavy, they want to feel rock hard abs as you slam that cheap pussy.

Most women don't even give a shit about muscle JUST TALK TO THEM.

yomo86 6y ago
Bodyfat is overrated such as BMI when you lift. Look in a mirror and just ask yourself is that really what I want, can you see at least a 4-pack then everything is fine. Some guys look like an Auschwitz tourist when they go under 10% some guys look like an aspiring sumo champion when they hit 15%. My take on it is, be fit for your sake only.
[deleted] 6y ago
sure...you go be fine, ill be fucking awesmome
Blanketsniffer 6y ago
The difference in the face when compared with %15 to %10 bodyfat is insane. You can make your body look leaner by designer clothes but not your face.
Hussy68 6y ago
here we go guys this is the EC that says he is fine with only lifting 125% of his body weight. You want to build muscle properly eat alot of food. Give your muscles all they can take. After that if you reach your desired body weight, recomp.

Cut the carbs, the beer, the sweets.

Abs are great if you have the V taper and low BF%. If you're over 10% BF (unless youre like 6'5 and your bodyframe gives you leeway) don't train abs everyday or you will look like a pregnant man and you will be praised in the subconscious minds of the SJW drones who believe you are trying to be gender-edgy with your bigg tubby.
This is especially worse if you're say 5'7 And you don't have a well developed chest because buff abs with a minimal layer of fat will be even with/ or protrude beyond your pecs when viewed from a profile and will make you look like a fucking lawn gnome.
If you're doing the 'Big 3' properly and regularly, that will give you a strong enough foundation and definition without having to do crunches in the crossfit cuck corner for 16 mins of every workout.
And for any tv-watching, magazine believing drone people out there, for the record, you cannot spot-reduce your abdominal region.

Hip bones wider than shoulders crew checking in - shit sucks ;p
lapdawg100 6y ago
a lot of guys are pretty athletic and strong. you may have good performance in the gym / whatever sport you're into, but unless you're competing at a professional level, no one really cares. how you look matters. being lean and fit means you look good in a suit, in a t shirt, and naked. i love this post. BMI doesnt matter as much as leanness does. if you're 6 foot 190 but a fat piece of shit, you dont stand out and no one cares. if you're 6foot 190 and look like adrian peterson, then yeah you're gonna turn heads. stay lean folks
Son_of_lakes 6y ago
Where can you get BF tested?
BornShook 6y ago
Look it up online. You do a bunch of measurments, height, weight, muscle cirvumfrence, etc. and type it into a calculator
PhaedrusHunt 6y ago
How accurate are scales that tell you BF%? I was surprised by one recently. Because although I've been leaner at times, I was surprised to see I was a bit over 20% as I can still see my abs.
Gotta go easy on the IPAs ????
Viramont 6y ago
What the fuck are IPAS? And the scale is most likely off. I remember a kid I knew claimed 6% body fat when he had manboobs after a dreambulk
PhaedrusHunt 6y ago
Indian pale ales. A delicious yet fattening beer. Switching back to vodka.
RedPilledGodEmperor 6y ago
Yes, IPAs are delicious, but are more calories. If not drinking those, I prefer whiskey on the rocks.

Great post to start April off, Now is the time to cut down and switch to Hypertrophy based work outs to have the right body for the beach during summer.

Obesity is truly a huge problem when it comes to SMV, but don't overlook the other side of the coin: being skinny. I have been a skinny dude for most of my 20's and the side effects are not great. I hardly had any strength, was bullied all the time, couldn't concentrate on anything, and girls would repel from me all the time. I could only get lad if a girl had some interest in me. I was the typical skinny Blue Pill nerd.
Then I started lifting. I learnt how to swim. I tracked my diet. I gained 15 pounds in the last year. Ever since I started lifting, Ive gained a lot more attention from girls, and more opportunities have opened for me.
Bottom line is: LIFT. Whether you're a fat behemoth of lard or you're a skinny praying mantis. If you want that slice of the sexual market cake, you need to look the part. Just turned 28 today but I feel like I'm 20!

What if I have abs but no veins for some strange reason

kasper138 6y ago
What does BF have to do with getting ass? Or a relationship? Or anything? I guarantee I'm better looking than you, I can also guarantee the fat bass player of any popular band is getting more ass than the both of us. Go eat a fucking hot dog and chill out.
[deleted] 6y ago
ill dumb it down for you dummy
SMV up when BF down
Alchemist_XP 6y ago
I remember one time I was sitting at a table with 4 of my friends from high school. One friend says “(my name) is the only one here who is still in the same shape as he was in high school... I think he’s onto something!”I’m usually 8-10% on average year round and it takes a lot of work. Some of these guys have a huge gut, but some are sorta fit, but as you say, fat on top. It felt good to get recognized, since it is a lot of commitment to stay lean!
BrokenHero408 6y ago
I Defo got more ass while I was eating like shit, drinking, hitting the clubs while blowing money than I am now focusing on the gym, internships and bettering my self being lol many many variables but being obese def isn't good for you mentally or physically let alone your ability to pull a broad.
StickguyMB 6y ago
I went to the gym to bulk up. I was only 147LBS with a gut too for some reason, but I could look normal if I sucked my belly in. I started eating more and drinking lots of protein shakes. Basically consumed twice as much at least.
I still lost 20 lbs in my first few months hehe
Cmdrj-nice 6y ago
Mfw when I don't even have a good diet but am 145 and I also have a six pack. I lift like 5 days a week I normally play basketball after.
upyoars 6y ago
You don't have to be fit or have a good body to have high SMV. You can be short as fuck, ugly as fuck, fat as fuck, and still be alpha/incredibly successful with girls. For guys, it's a lot more about confidence, behavior, tactical knowledge, and personality than looks. Admittedly.. it's much much easier to feel confident and have an alpha personality if you have good looks, because humans rationalize the fuck out of everything. So basically, it helps, but it's not absolutely necessary. There are other ways.
BornShook 6y ago
If you're a fat ugly guy who never works out, youre not getting laid plain and simple. If you groom and wear really nice shit maybe, but probanly not
mental_models 6y ago
SMV comes from having value and having game.
Value comes from 1 of 2 places Looks or Status. To have 'high SMV' you need to be exceptional at one of those 2.
Game comes in with market positioning and leverage and proper strategy. Not talking about game in the sense of pickup artist talk. Game is basically applied strategy.
I can tell you that even though I have superior insight into SMV, that I have low SMV. It's a market place out there, not a classroom or a debate club. You have to actually have value and then use it.
BornShook 6y ago
Sure thing you can have game as a fatass ugly fuck, but there are barriers to entry into the market. You need social proof to have good game, and a fatty with no game is going to be constantly rejected, thereby never allowing him to fully enter the market.
redpilledcuck 6y ago
Oh yeah? Then how is fat fuck David X able to slay so much pussay?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTOEIBsJuEI
XiriKaro 6y ago
I have to disagree U could have the body of a fucking greek god but it's worthless without game I know enough fat fucks, who are funny and confident and get laid on a regular
altiro15 6y ago
Shit i low a lot of weight but I'm still fat and get laid pretty often cause of confidence and game. TRP taught me confidence and game are the most important but the body could take you to banging 8s and 9s.
[deleted] 6y ago
Show me where I said game isn't important
Red_Faust 6y ago
Yeah.
The golden triad really is:
Why would you neglect any? Specially because the newbie gains in each of them are really low hanging fruit.
Andrusz 6y ago
You can neglect one of your others are off the charts.
[deleted] 6y ago
all those are key to SMV
FreshWhile 6y ago
15 is fine. At 15 percent body fat you should have a flat stomach, no love handles and at least an outline of your abs. Anything less than 12 percent is diminishing returns anyway.
At the end of the day what really matters is your face and height. A 6'4 guy with a good bone structure who is 20 percent body fat will always beat out a shredded ugly guy/manlet.
Zech4riah 6y ago
So are you saying that grow up to 6'4" rather than get your BF to 12%?
[deleted] 6y ago
15 is fine so stay there while I bang your wife
FreshWhile 6y ago
Not married, never will be.
Enjoy eating nothing but skinless chicken breast and broccoli while I eat whatever the fuck I want and look bigger than you in clothes and still have a flat stomach/chiseled face (which is all that really matters)

Go tell this to Leonardo with his dadbod and all the supermodels he is having fun with. I am sure he will take you very seriously.
listenhereboi 6y ago
He has money and status so doesn't need looks. Probably the same reason they lust after guys like George Cloony even though he's like 100 years old.
