Disclaimer
Let me start by saying that I know people on this sub have differing opinions on the effects of masturbation and porn. I'm not trying to encourage anyone to do one thing or the next, I just wanted to share what I've learned about myself from NoFap and eventually TRP. Why aren't I posting this in the NoFap sub? Because chances are I will be deleted for going against their goals or whatever.
About me
I'm a 17 year old junior in high school. I discovered my dick around age 12 and eased into the masturbation addiction slowly. My parents were semi-involved, but cared more about the pornography than the masturbation. As I got older, they either don't know (doubt it) or just care less and less. I started NoFap on June 30th, 2017. My goal was to make it to 2018 and never masturbate. I failed at this, and will explain that later. I have masturbated to the point of orgasm two times in the last 240 days. I don't regret any of this.
Lessons Learned
It's not easy to do NoFap. That is for sure. Especially if you are a person who doesn't have a lot going on in their life, and has a lot of free time. You may have noticed in the previous paragraph I said 'I have masturbated to the point of orgasm two times', key phrase being 'to the point of orgasm'. I would constantly edge. Probably 3-4 times a week. I don't get any 'blue ball' effects, but it's clear to me that this was unnecessary stress, a waste of time, and completely contradictory to my goals.
But enough about that, I want to talk about how my social life was affected. Before NoFap, I was a good talker, okay focus, but not very talkative. During NoFap? Good talker, great focus, still not very talkative. What I mean by that is, I don't talk to a wide variety of people, and don't initiate as many conversations with strangers as I'd like to.
One thing you see a lot of on the NoFap sub is people claiming that their life has flipped 180 degrees since they started, that simply wasn't the case for me. This is part of the reason why I edged, and why I followed through twice.
This is where TRP comes in, a sub I've been subscribed to because I like the Matrix but knew absolutely nothing about. I'm a conservative guy, so it was easy for me to understand and learn more about TRP without bitching about respecting women.
Conclusion
I've been at it for a month now, and can see the things I expected from NoFap finally starting to happen because I am now taking action. I initiate conversations, and openly crack jokes with girls of all ranges and I'm constantly building a larger social circle. People are starting to like me more, because I actually talk to them now! I also take lead more, and organize time with friends, take lead during group projects, and procrastinate less, to make time for other productive things.
Now, do I regret starting NoFap? Absolutely not. Having the freedom to bust a nut when you want, but not becoming an addict is a freedom I never want to lose. But I now realize simply stopping an addiction will not necessarily change your life, you still have a lot of work to do!
TL;DR: NoFap was not showing results, and discovering TRP and implementing it to my life has helped me get those results I wanted.
Thanks for your time.

Semi involved in giving you a semi hahaha

Nofap doesn't give you superpowers. It returns your mental status back to baseline / normal you. 43 days to go for my 90 day reboot. Good luck

Doesnt constant masterbation lower your testosterone levels?
And not jerking raises T levels?
Aren't these 'symptoms' just chemical fluctuations?

Good lord.. why do you care? This forum is a free and open resource so as long as I follow the rules, I can post as a please. I stated my age for a reason, so people like yourself, who despise anyone unlike your picture perfect red piller can leave and not read it! Who would have thought!

I also went from no fap to trp

I used to have a sex with my wife once or twice a weekend, and then I’d fap 2-3 more times to hold me off to the following weekend.
Here is my experience.
After I stopped fapping, my wife became more appealing for sex. I will watch some porn a couple times a month, but it’s usually to get in the mood if she’s coming home and I know she ovulating, so she’ll want to get some. I don’t jerk it, just watch it for a bit.
I never turn down sex since I put no fap into place over a year ago. Now, I have sex with my wife 2-6 times a week, probably average around 3-4/week. (I’m almost 50 yrs old). The quality AND quality of sex have both gone up. I have absolutely no desire to fap because I don’t ever get turned down, and the sex is great.

Here's the thing - learn how to jerk off consciously. Do not do it because it makes you feel good, then you just resort to jerking off everytime you need to feel good. Sexuality is a huge part of a man's life - how are you going to avoid rubbing one out like the plague and still be comfortable slapping a girl's face with your cock? If you jerk off and the thoughts in your head are "I disgust myself, this is a mistake, I am going to regret this," then you will feel like shit and the only way not to feel like shit is to not do it. Alcoholics and coke heads do the same thing, they are so focused on the dope and alcohol and so unaware of what else can make them happy.
I did NoFap and got much more confident and strong because I replaced my massive "addiction" with lifting weights and putting myself out of the comfort zone. This past year I made it over 200 days without jerking off. Felt great. But then I realized how much negative thinking I would attach to jerking off, instead of just being aware of what it is, why I do it, and when I do it. When you are aware you are in control, it no longer becomes your dopamine fountain, and you get on with life.

Ding ding....you got it. The problems men experience from over masturbation are actually caused by negative reinforcement and poor mindset. Positive reinforcement helps eliminate performance anxiety and a lot of the ED.

Google "healthy strokes", seems a bit off, but I do realise that even if I did not have had that problem in the past, many can potentially suffer.
Gozsayin 6y ago
I completely agree. Nofap isn't all powerful but it does install a high level of self control, alot like going to the gym. Not to mention from my own experience I didn't realize how much I was unintentionally suppressing my sex urge from constant masterbation. Now I only wank the stick once ever 1-2 weeks but even then I try to stick to just edging and Kegels(Train your dick)
mamaknulare 6y ago
I believe in the nofap benefits as I have experienced them, but some people expect to just do nofap and people (especially girls) will like them more. Before I even found nofap I was improving my social skills, training martial arts and lifting to improve my confidence. Nofap was just the thing that took all these things to the next level. And also I know some people don't believe the 'attraction' benefit but for me it's 100 % true. My goal with nofap is to get to the point where I can cum only with real girls, and even though I'm not where I want to be I keep getting better and slowly but surely I am getting there.

Regardless of the negative receiving my original post got, I want to say thank you to everyone for your insights, experiences, and criticisms.
Phoenixtorment 6y ago
You were not on NoFap, of course it didn't show results.

Exactly my point. Nofap is about abstinence from Mind more than body. Even fantasies aren’t allowed

I might as well share my story about nofap and how it helped me so others in my position can learn from my mistakes. I was addicted to fapping & watching porn and used to do it twice almost every day. I got so used to it that when i was trying to have sex with my fwb, I couldn't get hard due to the image of hot porn chicks in my head. I couldn't finish either, because pussy didn't feel as good as my hand. Now I haven't touched my dick since first of january and I dont face these problems any more. I rewired my brain towards female body, smell and how they feel and i get rock hard erections now, get powerful orgasms and all the bonuses.
Nofap, itself, isn't that useful if you didn't face problems like I have imo. But it cures everything i mentioned earlier and thank god it does, because i felt awful.

No fap is underrated, people calling it bullshit just don't have the willpower to follow through.
But, only use it if you're addicted to porn and masturbation, if you only jack off once a week it's a waste of time.
RedHoodhandles 6y ago
Why not NoPorn and Fap once a week? I notice the same energy spike after going longer without a fap but after a week my balls just hurt. Why not release the pressure if you haven't had sex during that time?
infamous3238 6y ago
I think this is ideal, but for most people its hard to do it just once a week. It's like an alcoholic telling himself he's only having one drink every Sunday. Eventually you fall back into a downward spiral of every day, multiple times a day.
BurnoutRS 6y ago
Integration is my philosophy. Masturbation has its place, porn does too if you can handle it.
You can go all or nothing. Going all in and jacking off every hour that your cock isnt raw from.subsequent jerk sessions. With 20 monitors with 1000 tabs open on each one. Thats easy. Complete abstinence is another story
With porn its unavoidable. Somebody is gonna show you a pic or a link, a chick sends you nudes, you see a popup ad because youre retarded and dont know how to set up an ad blocker.
Im mostly pornfree and i do my best to limit masturbation. Sometimes i cant focus because theres a lot of pent up sexual energy and I find it way easier to go back to what im doing after jacking off. If i do this too much i notice a difference in my confidence, etc.
However Im also noticing that as my social skill increase, my confidence and frame get stronger. The deleterious effects of jacking off, or jacking off to porn, seem to lessen. This is also true the more I abstain and limit my indulgence in either.
You also have to be careful nit to establish a guilt loop. If you put it to yourself that porn is evil, watching it is a relapse thats going to rob you off your "superpowers" then youre going to feel like shit after you cum, beat yourself uo and then probably self medicate by busting off some more knuckle children.
Rebooting is important and not just for porn or masturbation. Ideally you should try going without coffee for a month every so often if you love coffee. I take frequent breaks from smoking pot. Time off increases your appreciation for things, it improves your discipline and makes you feel stronger in your resolve which lessens anxiety.
The info on yourbrainonporn about the addiction cycle, dopamine and delta fosb is crucial to understanding addiction and breaking free of it. If you cant seem to control yourself with porn and masturbation, do a 90 day reboot. Take a big break from it to.kind of reset/rewire your brain a bit.
I had to quit smoking everything for the longest time to get myself to stop using tobacco. It took me a year before i could gradually bring weed back into my life without it immediately making me want to smoke a popper. The same applies to porn. I still have "relapses" where i feel myself slipping back into my old ways of jacking off thrice daily. My ultimate goal is to pretty much never watch porn save for when its unavoidable and only masturbate without it.
So far ive got myself do wnto averaging a month between "relapses". I definitely see improvement in the past year since i was introduced to nofap/pornfree shit

Your problem. Your solution. You have the knowledge of the whole world at your fingertips for free, libraries are free, so are some HS EC courses. Take your abundant time in your youth to get ahead. I don't advertise to go monk mode regarding sexual gratification, as it is extreme. But the occasional masturbation to no-porn when you can't get a clear though due to being horny is quite healthy.
tinysackbigshaft 6y ago
I jack off when I please and nut on a slag's cunt as desired. I have sex/jack off without ejaculating, that's the secret of "nofap" (doing this for 2 years)
infamous3238 6y ago
I can't imagine this is healthy.
tinysackbigshaft 6y ago
anytime I ejaculate I feel different the next day. I wake up later and groggy for example
wokedaoist 6y ago
How do you withhold ejaculation? Do you just edge?
tinysackbigshaft 6y ago
yeah exactly. during sex too.
wokedaoist 6y ago
So you never climax during sex? That sounds like it would take a lot of self control.
tinysackbigshaft 6y ago
I limit it to every 4-5 days, I used to do 2 weeks or so but that's just too much. Yeah takes a lot of discipline

You don't stop an addiction because it leaves a big gaping hole in your life. Out of sudden, more time, more energy, more money, more everything. So, people just jump to another addiction. The AA way - replace booze with meetings - kind of works for some people. As a professional NoFapper with a clean mind and T levels rising from lifting, you can post insightful shit here, thus raising our overall awareness, get some mod points, maybe become an EC someday.
tldr; don't quit, replace.

Yep. Something I do a lot more now is work on my bowling. Joined my schools team late November and recently bowled a high game of 216. Also filling my time learning C++, Java (in school), and hopefully Python later on.
ex_addict_bro 6y ago
There are some addictions that are so prevalent that they're invisible to the eye. But stil, they take their toll.
For example, music.
ScaleRipper 6y ago
NoFap is just a way to get starting. especially true for the hardcore porn addicts. it helps you start doing new stuff and exploring. the thing is tho it is served in a super wrong way. people at NoFap are counting the days they havent fapped and are feeling guilty when they do. This is absolutelly not the point of it. There is nothing wrong with fapping. Like everything else in life, moderation is key. If you can't control yourself, then you have worse problems than fapping itself.
red_matrix 6y ago
Nofap is a challenge in self control. It's a great test of a man's ability to control himself and his desires. Conquer thyself and you can conquer the world.
Porn has been proven to be more addictive than heroine. The link between porn and dopamine is cannot be denied. There are countless studies all over the internet and that's why it's so damn hard to control or even stop. Porn addiction, keyword "addiction", is real and it is destroying many young men.
