What changes have you noticed about yourself?
Did it increase your discipline, focus, etc.?
Did it help your game? (i.e., non-outcome dependence, etc.)
Did it increase mental health? (rid anxiety, depression, etc.)
How often do you practice and for how long?

yes, meditation is the backbone of everything you do
bodybuilding = hardware
meditation = software

I love the metaphor.
stealthcreeper 10y ago
Its the best one I can think of.
But yeah, Ive been meditating for 3~4 years and its been amazing, it helps with everything.
I started with 10 minutes everyday, but now I'm doing a total of 1 hour a day.
I do 20 minutes after waking up, then 20 minutes after lunch and 20 minutes before going to sleep.

I meditate up to 45 minutes each day. Afterwards I feel completely in control and completely whole. The metaphor that is frequently used is that of the ocean. The surface of the ocean is very rough. However, as you descend further and further into the ocean, it becomes still. Your life is the same way. There is a lot of shit going on on the surface of our lives, but through mediation it allows us to go into ourselves to observe all that shit from a place of stillness. You come to realize that you're in control of your life; you are not what is going on on the surface of your life. You have the power to observe and the power to change.

That's beautiful. I had a dream a while ago where I experienced what that metaphor talks about, sinking in the ocean and all. Woke up with some feelings. I get it now.

More relax. Happier.
Yes
I think so. It certainly changed my dating behavior a lot. I stopped partying, so flings and ONS with party sluts went out the door.
I'm a lot more able to be happy now without a woman in my life, so I only bother if she is very attractive, enjoyable to be around, and not a slutty.
Yes. I used to experience stuff like that occasionally. Now it's pretty rare, and passes a lot faster. I also used to have trouble falling asleep sometimes. That never happens anymore.
Oh man, I'm pretty crazy about it. 2-4 hours a day, sometimes more. That isn't all sitting meditation though. Roughly half is Daoist martial arts and chi gung, which is complimentary to sitting and is often considered moving meditation.

Could someone give a idea of where to get some starting resources from for mindful meditation?

A great start is the app called Headspace
RPSigmaStigma 10y ago
Yes, definitely. 20-30 minutes every day. I usually do it in the morning after my coffee and vitamins before going to the gym.
eebsamk 10y ago
Absolutely. Look up a few of Sam Harris's mindfulness videos on YouTube.

Yes to all. I don't practise enough but suffice to say that when I'm clear and present life takes on a whole new dimension. Can't recommend it enough.
